RPS called me today, and when.I called back, the woman "Blanche" I spoke with hung up after being rude. We contacting the company we owed to, and they did not turn it over to this "debt collector". They called my husband from a cell phone number only 1 digit off of his cell number. SCAM!

Sorry you pathetically inexperienced Shill! Anyone with even half a brain knows not to pay a bill unless the person or company demanding it will provide WRITTEN, VALID PROOF by MAIL proving the claim. If you cannot provide a letter of validation then you are OBVIOUSLY a fraud and have forfeited your claim to any payment. Not to mention being in violation of numerous laws covered in the FDCPA.
Get a new line of work you scam. The doors are slamming on fraudulent collectors in this country and all your jobs are being out-sourced overseas. It'll be back to dish-washing for you.

Collection Agencies are here to get the dead beats who will not pay bills they legally owe.  If a person has proof that they paid a bill then the collection agency leaves them alone.  But if the company that hired them to collect the debt proves they owe the debt collection agencies keep contacting you.  Prove you paid or pay.  That's your choice.

Pay Now or Else is not a scam. The person refusing to pay their bills are the scammers.  Pay Now or Else is the only way to get these dead beats to pay.

If you truly do not owe the money then simply show them proof and they will leave you alone.

They are NOT collecting debts.  Despite what they claim, they cold call businesses trolling to allegedly help us collect non-paying customers.  They lie, and are under investigation.

Debt Collector
Voice mail says her name is Blanch, that she is with RPS and that I had to call her back by end of day. To call 877-285-9929 ext....yada yada.
Funny thing is the number on my caller id was different? She had my first name right but not my last name. She used my maiden name and I haven't went by that name in 18 years and just recently changed it back in the last week???

Also she called me two weeks ago and left me messages on my work number same message as that I had to call her. I did answer her call only after she went as far as to call our main switchboard requesting my extention??? So her number was blocked by the transferred call. She told me that I owed money on a credit card (Discover Card), I told her that my state's SOL (Utah)  was up on that debt and that they could not collect on it....went on to threaten me with a judgement, and that I didn't know my state's SOL saying it is 7 years not the 4 years that I told her. Asked why I won't or couldn't pay since I do work??? reallly? I told her that I have not used or made a payment since the late '90's to that card. I also told her that I wanted them to verify the debt and to cease calling me at work. She then told me that my work number was the only way that she could get ahold of me so she would keep calling and she has? I did tell her that I will turn them in to the State Attorney's office for harrassment if she did not cease communication and to mail me any collections notices? She wanted me to give her my address I told her that since I have lived at the same address for the past 18 years she should already have that address if she did indeed have a vaild debt to collect. Needless to say she got very vocal at this point and I told her again to stop calling me at work and hungup on her in her mid sentance rant on my moral responsiblity to pay my debts???  This debt was suppose to have be paid by my ex husband in 1997 per divorce decree? She did tell me early in the conversation that I was hard to track down and that they had to look to my credit report to see if my current employer was listed? Regardless if it has been 4 or 7 years and well over the SOL to collect how do these people get away with this? She has called daily sometimes numerous times?

This guy DAVID KAHANA keeps calling our office, harassing, yelling, threatening that he will call the FBI for our illegal action of not giving them a payment. I couldn't handle his harassment any longer, so I told him, in behalf of my boss, to take action. Then this guy loses his temper, and I will quote his words, "I WILL BEAT YOU UP UNTIL I GET A PAYMENT!" So I repeated his word, and he responds, "no, that't not what I said." We've been ignoring his calls since that conversation, but is there a way to take legal action against this guy? David is trying to collect a payment from the company I work for, but I want to take legal actions for what he is putting me under.

Got a call from 877-285-9929, automated recording "telling" me to call them back.  OK, I did, I was curious. After giving my phone number I was transferred to some punk that was in a real bad need of oral sex.  Anyways..In his very first sentence to me he threatened me with legal action on a bill from a company I am clueless on.  I told the punk that I would not be threatened and before I could tell i would only communicate via mail, he goes off in a bad tangent, actually screaming that I didn't know the law and I was not an expert in what a "threat is"..yada yada...I then asked him to answer a simple yes or no to my next question.  He then screamed (i'm not exaggerating) that I had NO RIGHTS in asking him ANY questions...then he said.."then why don't you hang up"...and I did.....

Clearly stated in FDCPA LAWS - YES YOU DO HAVE TO SEND IT WRITING - ITS NOT A CHOICE ITS A LEGAL REQUIREMENT!

What does the debt collector have to tell me about the debt?

Every collector must send you a written ?validation notice? telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don?t think you owe the money.

you have to contact the orginal creditor for itiemized statments.. legally the law "discovery" protects collections agencies from having to send any back up documents if they don't want to. it is legal

Any time some one calls demanding PAY NOW OR ELSE is a scam - usually means they cannot PROVE the debt ever existed at all - and they HAVE NO LEGAL RIGHT TO COLLECT IT.  Bottomfeeders like this are NOT LICENSED to collect in the states they are making these calls to

Debt collectors are REQUIRED BY LAW to MAIL you the information about the debt to include ALL pertinent information, Name of Original Creditor, date of service or default, amount owed etc as well as INSTRUCTIONS on HOW TO DISPUTE it - as they are ALSO REQUIRED BY LAW to allow you to DISPUTE the debt as NOT YOUR DEBT.

Basically they are looking for ANYONE who they can SCARE into sending them money, which never goes to the original creditor because they bought it for 1-3 cents on the dollar.  They never indicate the debt was paid - so they can RESELL the debt to another JUNK DEBT BUYER and its starts all over again and if it was not your debt to begin with - they will provide your contact info to the NEXT JUNK DEBT BUYER.

Got a call from this "company" with a recording for me to call them back.  I called and was told that I owe some bill to a medical company to which I am clueless.  What they don't know was that I was recording the phone call.  This punk demanded that I pay today or they would send it to litigation.  I told him that I had no knowledge of the bill and inquired for more detailed information to which he COULD NOT supply.  I then made clear he was to send me all information in the mail and he said that was not an option.  I said "too bad" and hung up.

This company, I feel, is a scam.  They can't and won't provide any information about a bill nor mail any info out tells me they are scamming individuals for monies that probably don't exist.  If you get a call from them, have some fun and talk to them.  YOU ARE IN THE DRIVER"S SEAT....NOT THEM.

I have gotten two messages from this RPS company on my home phone. They gave me a reference number. When I called back a lady answered the phone and said that was her private home number.  So I tried to redial the number and she answered the phone again.  I don't know who I should contact to report this.

I have received two voice-mails from this number. The first time the automated message said it was a company named Liveox, the second time a company named RPM. The messages were the exact same except the name. They both gave the same account # to reference. When I called back to find out what they wanted they answered the phone RPS worldwide. That was fishy I thought... Upon further investigation I found that they were trying to collect a debt that was completely paid in 2006, for Area Circulation(Scam by the way). So I tell them I will call them back with my last payment information. Of course Area Circulation does not have any documentation of payment, but does show that the account is closed, and nothing is owed. When I call back to RPS I get a different lady and ask her what the deal is with the different names on the voice-mails and why she has old account info. She told me I heard wrong and that no other company would be calling me... My saved voice mails say different. She immediately got defensive when I told her they were saved and when I told her not to call me again and that my lawyers would handle the situation she yelled "OH YEAH WILL THAT WON'T WORK CAUSE WHEN YOU HANG UP SEE WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN I WILL CALL YOU RIGHT BACK AND WILL KEEP CALLING" and then she hung up. And then called back. I answered and immediately said "My lawyer will be contacting you, don't call this number. She hung up and then called back. So I just turned my phone off. What do I need to do here? Can this effect my credit? What do I do if they keep calling?

Thanks
