Tried to do one of my free FEDERAL GOVT. PROVIDED credit checks. I was directed to freecreditreport.com from annualreport.com. I DID NOT SELECT THE RADIO BUTTON TO BE A MEMBER!!!!!! I only gave the REQUIRED INFORMATION!!!!! Needless to say I started seeing a monthly bill from them. I called 1 877-288-8059 only so Abdulala Nickonabodla and I could argue over the charges. Finally... after trying to sell me even MORE credit services he agreed to cancel the most current charge and terminate my account. I WILL NOT USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!! IF THE CHECK IS PROVIDED FREE FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WHY DO THEY EVEN NEED A CC #!! ?? THANKS FOR ANOTHER SCREWIN UNCLE SAM!! WE CANT EVEN GET THIS RIGHT!!

I signed up ONCE for a free credit report, as I do annually. A couple of years ago, and I did not experience this problem. Seems as though, FREECREDITREPORT.COM has turned out to be like most internet companies; liars and scam artists!! 877-288-8060, 877-288-8059, 877-481-6825

Dork. Too hard for people to mess that up (or have someone give them the wrong url on purpose or accident) and end up at an impostor site. People should start at ftc.gov and click link for credit, etc., then you end up at the legit place instead of impostor. Explicit and correct links are on this page:

Yeah, I signed up for the "free trial", then cancelled 6 days later (they give you up to 9 days). I later found a charge for $24.95 from them, and it was charged on the very day I signed up for this "free" service. It's a violation of their Terms & Conditions page, which has this:
Credit Monitoring Membership With Free Trial: You will be asked for valid credit card information when you sign up for the free credit monitoring trial. CIC will verify your credit card information before processing your order. An authorization in the amount of one dollar will be performed on your credit card, to make sure it is valid and in good standing, but CIC will not actually bill your card until the free trial period has passed. However, the one dollar authorization may count against your credit or debit limit. Because monitoring with Experian may take 48 hours to begin, we will start your 7-day free trial 48 hours after you enroll. Therefore, you may cancel your trial membership without charge at any time within 9 days of placing your order. If you do not cancel [...snip...]
CLEAR VIOLATION. I've reported them on ftc.gov/credit, and sent an email to support@freecreditreport.com noting that I did do and that they were in violation of their stated terms, and to fix it immediately. I'll follow up by phone during business hours (they're closed now). Should have used annualcreditreport.gov (= http://www.ftc.gov/freereports ), live and learn.

I just got hit with the same thing! I called them up and chewed them out and they tried to tell me their policy for NO Refunds I started yelling and demanding a manger and suddenly the same women got back and said they refunded my card! I'm so tired of this kind of screw ball money stealing tactics! Beware of anything that says it is free, but then demands a credit card to use it....

Hey don't feel bad! I just realized I've been getting billed for the last six months from "Triple-Advantage" AKA "Freecreditreport.com" for $14.95 a month. Wow! That really takes the cake for being the bone head move of the year! Its actually quite comical and I can't even be mad! I'm laughing at my own stupidity! My mistake for not monitoring my account more closely. What a F*#!* idiot! However, there is a number to call to cancel the subscription Its 877-481-6826 but I have to wait until tomorrow to call. Oh well, whats one more day? Its ok you can laugh! I know I'm a moron!

I too was irritated to find a $14.95 charge on my bank account from using "freecreditreport.com"s "free" service. I called the number, had to do so more than once to get through. I spoke to a very nice young lady who refunded my money with out any hassle, when I told her I had not intended to apply for any membership or any service(s)other than what was advertised as free.....
Try it and be nice, good luck....

I just checked my monthly statement and I too, got a charge for 14.95.
The thing is, I didn't even go on their site or was checking my credit for anything. What the hell!?
I need to call my bank tomorrow. It seems like something is funny going on.

I just checked my bank account and saw a charge for $15.88 from them. I cancelled this useless membership during my trial period and still got charged!!! I'm sitting on eternal hold with them right now.
krca21 2009-06-17 21:50:51 Unknown
These people are freaking robbers!!!!! They won't credit back the charge unless you cancel within the two week trial period. $14.95 that I really don't need to loose right now not having a job!!!! Thank you American ripoff companies!!!!!!!!!! FREE CREDIT REPORT MY A**

freeeeeeee really freeeeee 2009-06-15 21:19:46 Unknown
FREEcreditreport.com? You've seen their television ads. How much do you think those cost? You think they are paying for those ads with all the revenue from giving away FREE credit reports? You can bet if you're gullible enough to get taken in by this, then your name and contact info has been added to a "sucker" list and you will get more scam offers than you can count more than 10 i mean LOL.
Bulovaz 2009-06-15 21:12:16 Unknown
I'm on the phone with them RIGHT NOW and they want your card info and last 4 of SS. It's Experian. I asked them to reverse it and they said they would in 7-10 business days. Let us see...
glncal61 2009-06-14 22:49:08 Unknown
I'm getting charged for that site too! And I can't even log into the site. It does'nt recognise my user name OR my password and when I click on the icon "forgot password". It don't even know my e-mail address. (And yes, I'm on the correct site. It's the website that was sent to me when I signed up. I don't get it.
R.I. 2009-06-14 01:56:17 Unknown
How did you get the charges reversed?
R.I. 2009-06-14 01:55:52 Unknown
Whoa. I had the same problem. I saw the information right on the homepage, but did not select anything that would charge me.
I just checked my credit status on my bank's homepage and it tells me that I've been charged twice by them. $24.95 AND $14.95 for services that I didn't want.
The pages did reload a few times, and it's possible something got selected automatically, but that doesn't mean I did it on purpose.
scambuster 2009-06-11 23:07:39 Unknown
what a bunch of d****eads....my bank reversed the charges...and as for you lamet, go pound sand.
lamet 2009-06-05 14:39:56 Unknown
How come you did not read the IMPORTANT INFORMATION right on their homepage?
The credit report is FREE - the charges are for credit monitoring service you agreed to when you requested the free credit report.
ITS NOT HIDDEN - ITS RIGHT ON THE HOMEPAGE..
They even refer you to the CORRECT FREE CREDIT REPORT site. www.annualcreditreport.com
Mark 2009-06-05 13:51:53 Unknown
I checked mine on freecreditreport.com . I guess the "Free" part applies to something else. $14.95 is not a lot, but it hacks me off to get charged for something that is represented as free.
computer man 2 2009-06-05 01:13:31 Unknown
I think it is experian. did you check your credit report lately for free at one of major credit agencies?
Computer Man 2009-06-03 12:56:51 Unknown
When I called the number, all I got was a voice mail that says call during business hours of 8am to 5:30PM Mon - Fri. I called at 8:55am. These people somehow got my card number and took 12.95 off of it, and now they wont answer my calls. I don't even know who these people are.
