Survey
ryanfrommacro,

I would not scream at the person at the drive thru, because I chose to go to the drive thru.  I'm doing business there.

I would not scream at a mechanic, because I chose to go to the mechanic.  I'm doing business there.

I would not scream at a person working at the mall, because I chose to go to the mall.  I'm shopping there.

But I will scream at you if you call me, because I did not choose to get a call from you.  I say politely that I don't want to do yours or any surveys, and would you please not call me any more.  And you have the audacity to say, "Sorry, we're going to keep calling you anyway."  Well, at that point is where I might scream at you.

I get DOZENS of calls not just from your one company, but multiple different organizations all day,  The phone might ring 10 or 20 times per day with these spam calls. That is incredibly annoying and distracting for someone who works at home.  You are actually interrupting my WORK.

Most of them (unlike yours) say fine, they won't call any more, when I request that.  So even if the calls are "randomly selected" I know it's possible to add a number to a do-not-call-list, because other organizations do that.  Your organization ICF MARCO is one of few scum-of-the-earth's who say 'too bad' we're going to keep calling anyway.

Caller ID'd self as survey for CDC, said she would give web address for survey results but when pressed, gave this 877 phone number. Most questions were about smoking, chewing tobacco, etc. 1st full cigarette, last smoke - minutes, days, weeks, yrs ago? Health = below avg or above avg.
Makes me wonder if it was associated with Long Term Care policy I put in for with Genworth

Survey
i am actually a tri (telephone research interviewer) at icf macro in plattsburgh ny. these are completely legitimate surveys and affect where your tax money is being spent, your opinions in these surveys also help decide certain policies in your community. they are completely confidential. and no the market research company icf macro is not being paid by your tax money, but by the business that needs the survey done. and i just want to say that u people are very very rude when we call. we are working americans just like you, we are actually doing something good for your community and you scream and hang up on us like we are indecent people. im in a community where work is very hard to find right now and i am workin two part time jobs making terrible money. but i know i would not scream or hang up and take out my frustration at the person at the drive thru, or the mechanics i go to, or the people working at the mall. u people really need to chill out and stop complaining unless your willing to do something about it, and doing these surveys is one way, trust me

Survey
I called the CDC and finally got them to take a complaint--I hope. Unbelievable that there is no real recourse against these people. They have called me several times per day and NIGHT for four days now. Each time I have told them to remove me from their list. They have not.

Same as others; after 3 weeks of daily harassment, I told the last one I was sick of it and going to kill myself.  He sounded nice and said he'd take care of it.  It's been a weekend; but maybe it will stop?

These people have called us every night for at least 3 weeks.  When we asked to have our number taken off of the list, they said they could not take it off; that numbers are selected randomly.  They never miss a day...in fact, just had a call 30 minutes ago.  My phone displays "Private Caller".

Survey
I called the CDC tonight after receiving one of these survey calls.
National Adult Tobacco Survey
#1 It is a valid survey conducted in behalf of the CDC by an outside vendor.
#2 All phone numbers are 'randomly' selected

Ok so I called the CDC about this company and it's smoking survey. It turns out that they are officially "Working" on the behalf of the CDC. Unfortunately the folks at the CDC are almost as rude as the people from ICF-Marco, so getting these calls to stop is hard. Hey folks these are your tax dollars hard at work!! Report them to CDC at 1800-232-4636 option 1, then Option 3,then option 6 gets you a person.

I received the same letter as the previous poster.  Fortunately I have lifelock and was warned about this scam before I received the letter.  This is NOT legitimate, this company is NOT authorized by the CDC, do not tell them anything!

Political Call
Call not actually from CDC, but from a research firm on behalf of the CDC - ICF Macro. I got a letter in the mail a few days before hand on Department of Health & Human Services letterhead, saying someone from ICF Macro would be calling for the survey that would take 15-25 minutes. What I object to is using tax payers money for this survey. White House will probably claim that hundreds of jobs were "saved" as a result of this survey because they had to hire this company to make the calls. The letter gave the above ph number to call to schedule the survey at a time convenient for me.

Caller claimed to be from the CDC, he actually said"CDC, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention".  He asked how many adults lived in the house over 18 years old, and wanted to speak with an adult woman about the health effects of tobacco.  Seemed suspicious since call came at 9 pm.

got a call from this number asking for smoking related info too. Its a scam to get information they hide it in the form of a survey. Looked up and found out all 877 numbers are toll free from Smithers, BC, Canada. Im 100% sure the CDC Doesnt call let alone work in canada.

I also received a call on my cell phone from Samantha telling me to call back to answer a CDC survey.  The caller ID was marked as "restricted" when I received the call and I suspect this is the same caller as the other restricted calls I have been ignoring for the last week.

This caller identified herself as being from the CDC - makes me think it's a scam.
