The best thing is to get rid of Cox and go with u-verse or Direct TV.  It is cheaper and the program selection is better.  Cox keeps going up on their rates and what do we get?  We get 30 minutes of commercials for every 14 minutes of programming.

I am not and have never been a COX customer and I've been getting pre-recorded messages asking to call them about my account.   So far, I'm ingnoring them.  If it's important enough for them to clear up the matter, they can have a real person call and leave a NON-recorded message.  Only then, will I acknowledge their call.  It's too easy these days to find out who a number belongs to.  They need to get their crap together and stop harassing the public.

Debt Collector
WARNING TO ALL COX CUSTOMERS - This is legitimately Cox Communications' Debt Collection Dept.  I answered the call, as I did not understand why they were calling me given I pay my bills on time every month, and there's no way I owe them any money.

Apparently Cox had assigned my phone # to someone else during the same time it was assigned to me, and that person skipped on paying their Cox bill, so I was the one getting called.  It took going up the ladder to get a supervisor to help me, but it was worth it.

Cox supervisor said that this (Cox assigning same # to two or more different accounts) sometimes happens and that I had to file a police report + fill out one of their Fraud Complaint packages (with the police report number) before they could do anything about it.

You must go into one of Cox's physical offices to present photo ID to get the Fraud pkg - Please ask them for a print-out of all accounts associated with your phone number when you do go in (which I strongly recommend you do).

So Cox made an error - assigning my active number to someone else (after they had already had it assigned to me for several years) - and then wants me to jump through hoops to get them to fix their error.

SUGGESTION - If you get one of these calls, and you are a Cox customer (especially if your account is in good standing), you should definitely call them back and find out what it's all about.

If you don't call them, and if the situation is the same as I've experienced, it could adversely impact your credit score by you getting erroneously blamed for someone else's ripping off Cox.

You need it on Cox records that you called them and that you are in no ways associated with the person/address they erroneously assigned your phone number to.  It will require you going into their physical local office and presenting a photo ID to prove you are who you say you are when you are contesting it and picking up the Fraud packet + printout of all accounts associated with your phone number (which helps the police report).

I hope this helps
