Patricia, pay them NOTHING until they have mailed you (NOT e-mail or fax.) a notice of validation. As per federal regulations under the FDCPA. If they refuse, ignore them. They're in violation of federal law. If you do (or have) received that notice, VERIFY everything on it BEFORE you pay a dime. Know the Statutes of Limitations in regards to debt in your state. Verify this firms physical address & check to see if they're licensed and bonded in your state (if required) to collect debt.
NEVER pay a collector by credit or pre-paid card. NEVER give a collector access or information on ANY of your accounts. Pay ONLY by check or, preferably, USPS money order. Send all payments by certified mail/return receipt requested to ONLY verified addresses. If a collector objects to this, they're frauds. Legitimate collection firms never have a problem with receiving payment by mail. If your caller makes excuses & threats, he's obviously got something to hide.

Told me that they are a debt collector (Landmark LLC), and is handling this account. I was told that this debt needed to handle today. So I acted on it...said the creditor is offering settlement of half.  Must be sent by credit or debit MasterCard only. That would receive a clearance letter once money is received.

Got a call from my Boss saying someone called and looking for me from court house, called the number and spoke to someone saying that I have a summons, if I don't pay may debt it will cost me 1900 dollars with court and fees, but If I settle it without court appearance I have to pay 510.00.  She took my e-mail coz I requested a copy of the papers never got anything after I gave my credit card and paid the amount they needed. Called my Credit Card and disputed the amount and they are investigating the company which the 8774209911 that's on my credit card information.  Told them it was a fraud.

I kept getting calls from this place at my place of employment. I end up paying them $560 to pay off my loan. I received papers sent to my email to show the agreement and to show that I paid them off. It is for Capital, a debt collector. I was able to get through the first time I called

A compnay with thei number referenced started taking money out of my bank account.  When I tried calling all I got was answering machines and no one returned the call.  The asked me to leave my social security #, address and othe personal information on their machine.  Be careful.....I'm out alot of money and cant get it back right away.  Have to go thru all the Fraud stuff

Got a message from this number. No identification saying they were on their way to pick me up for jail unless i called back.

Samething happened to me, called saying they were going to have me arrested, asked for information on what I owed from who mailed to me, said they can't do that so they emailed me something that looked like they typed on a computer and attached to an email. They called me a couple of days later  and asked to know the account number for the loan I supposed to took out 5 years ago, who I took it out with and the judgement docket number they suppose to have, never heard back. Yesterday got a call from my county court saying I was just served, would be arrested at work, the county doesn't know anything about the check fraud charge or who was making the complaint but if I called this 1877 number I could work everything out. Called county, nobody by that name works for them.

The same thing happened to me. They told me I had 2 check charges: defrauding an instution and check fraud. They told me I had 2 court summons that would be issued to my job. I gave them 50.00 to get more information and they had all my information too. Scary.

They told me that I could do 2 payments of 215 then 215 on my card. I agreed. They promised to send the official payment agreement and arrangement, Papers never came through the mail and they would not return my calls.

i received a call from 888-215-7116 from taylor timbers and she sounded very official. she had my previous married name and lots of other personal information, and she claimed i was being brought up on 4 counts of fraud and intent to defraud a financial institution...i was going to be arrested, etc. i gave her a $100 payment knowing i could get more information from my bank and cancel the charge, and when the charge appeared on my account this phone number was attatched to it...hmmm....smells fishy. i canceled the charge, canceled the card i used, and i await their phone call so i can tell them i have repoted them to the FTC and my bank's fraud division. DO NOT FALL FOR THEM....they can sound convincing and scary, but they are a SCAM!!!!

first i got a call from (956) 429-3233 dont remember the guys name but he told me he was an investigator for me to call 877-420-9911 in referance to ace cash express loan i had in the past.. i called that number and told me if i didn"t paid in full the amount of my loan $400 plus $200 for atty fees .. thats BU%$^t that if i dont pay by today they were going to come arrst me here at my work place.. dont really understand how this pepole think sumone is going to give them there credit card info if i ask them to fax me the paper work they had for me and they refused to send it.. any time u pay for sumthing dont u need proofs first? of course u do i think this pepole are just trying to scam u..

I received a call to my job with this same number saying that i was going to get served court papers.

"John McClure" left a message on my answering machine claiming that he got my phone number because I was listed as a reference for an "Esteban Pachooka" in reference to case #100-270something.  Wanted me to call this number so that perhaps the case could be settled out of court.
