I donated blood once, after I almost passed out. It was a horrible, horrible experience and after about a week (and loosing my job) I went to the doctor to find out I was I guess severely anemic and when they took the blood they literally almost killed me cuz my body couldn't function but THEY said my iron count was fine. They since have called me about 50 times, most of the time they hang up on me when I try to say dnt call me again. WORST COMPANY EVER and they're supposed to be saving lives, its really sad.

They continue to call later in the evening when we're getting ready for bed. I find this incredibly rude and annoying. They call all the freaking time. I can't donate blood. Their employees aren't competent enough to get my veins without poking me 8 times anyway.

I keep getting the phone call, I have never given blood!!!!! They need to remove me. I can't give blood due to my epilepsy meds. Please remove me!!!

Here's how you can do it right:
1. Have your organization name show up in caller ID.
2. Leave a message if no one picks up stating exactly why you called.
3. Have a system in place for people to opt out and honor that system.
4. Don't lie to us. If there is a crisis for blood, state that. If there isn't, don't pretend there is.
5. Don't incentivize bad behavior from your call center. If they only get paid for setting up an appointment, why should they leave a message?
People will respond if you respect them. If you act like every other spammer, you'll be treated like a spammer because really you are.

I also donate every 3 months until I got a new tatoo. I told them about it and didn't get one single call for over a year. They too\k me off the list until "I was safe to donate again". That is a polite way to get out of the phone calls, even if it is a fib. LOL

I finally figured out that the people calling are earning money when you make an appointment. UBS won't pay for your blood, but they pay people to bother you.

They are worse than creditors.
JJ 2011-06-06 21:04:25 Unknown
It is United Blood Service, but they call because there is a severe need for blood. They only call this often when they are in great need of your type. It's sick that you think you should get paid for everything. Just wait until you go in with severe trauma and they don't have enough of your blood type. Guess what happens then.

yep united blood services

UBS used to use a local number, and they identified themselves on caller ID.... winder where the idiots got the idea to emulate TeleMarketers - everyone knows that no one takes those calls from anyone. Wish they would (at the minimum) identify themselves on caller id....at least then I'd answer their calls.

United Blood Services- FYI: You give blood once and they will not leave you alone.
Frustrated 2011-06-06 21:04:25 Unknown
It's United Blood Services and they are relentless. They just called me three times in two minutes. Twice on my cell and once on my work phone.

This number keeps calling me and never leaves a message! Is it too much to ask for them to leave a simple voice mail?

I understand that they need blood but I need to not be harassed for it. Its always the same speech we need blood at this time. I know it is a never ending thing but they seriously need to stop and why a call center why do they not make it more personal with people from the same town.

The challenge of working to meet the nation’s blood needs is a serious one. United Blood Services is responsible for meeting the blood needs of more than 15 million Americans who live in the communities we serve. Patients in these communities literally depend upon a steady stream of blood donors to survive.
United Blood Services is committed to finding a balance between the needs of these patients and the needs of those rare individuals who so willingly give of themselves. I apologize if our outreach comes across as too strong or too intrusive.
Some blood donors want us to call them as soon as they are eligible to give again. Other blood donors don’t want to be called as often. Some donors want us to leave a message when we call while others want us to call back every so often until we make personal contact. That is why we offer options to blood donors that enable them to customize how and when we ask them to give blood.
Please feel free to contact me directly should you feel that you would like to change the way(s) we’re asking for your help. I will be happy to work with you to find a communication process that meets your needs. Blood donors are rare and wonderful people and we do sincerely appreciate the past, present, and future efforts of every blood donor.
Find the hero in you. Give blood 3 times a year.

united blood service repeatedly calls our home even though all of us have asked them repeatedly NOT to call again. We have received at least 10 calls after our initial request to stop calling. What a nuisance.

yes it is for blood drive, and once you donate they will ask again. It is for the good of all to give.

UBS: stop calling me. I give blood when the mobile unit comes to my workplace.

If they call just say you have aids. They will stop calling. It may be lying, but it will stop the calls.

yep they keep calling me and telling me my blood type is rare and they need it badly.

Sorry to say I have quit donating blood because these people won't stop harrassing me with their uninvited calling.

Don't let Mr. Finlayson fool you. This is a FOR PROFIT organization. They are only in it for the money. If you really want to help folks, donate via the Red Cross.
Sandy Bergeron 2011-04-06 19:00:25 Unknown
The calls from the above number are not welcome, please get them to stop calling.

I was in Tuesday to donate, got deferred due to low blood iron and they're calling again already. Like I've really managed to correct the issue in in two days. I even asked the receptionist to make them stop... I don't forget! Really! It makes me sad that they're doing this when they need blood donors so badly -- if not for the people who needed the blood, I'd probably stop going and tell them where they could shove their unwanted phone calls.
