I got a call from this number saying my chase card was compromised. I didn't answer but a called my bank and they said no one called and this is not one of they're numbers. They seem to be looking for information

They called saying they were from the fraud dept of our business credit card

R'cd two calls this morning. Thanks to posts I called the number on the back of my card in question and found out that my card was compromised and fraudulent charges were made. The best advice: call the number on back of the card they will route you.

I received two calls this morning from this number. I looked up the number here and some people say its a scam and some say it is legitimate. I took precautions suggested and called the number on the back of my card.(Good advice, thanks) Sure enough it is BANK OF AMERICA and we did have fraudulent charges on the card over $l,000.00 charged from Walmart. We do not shop at Walmart ever. So now, we have to go through changing out cards. Even worse, everyone pays for this with higher interest rates and fees to cover fraud.
Sad we live in times where most work hard, pay their bills and the slackers (criminals) get by on theft and stealing off our backs. Shame.

Just never trust the Caller ID, since it can be faked. IMO, BA shouldn't use ANY Caller ID, since it shouldn't be trusted, because whatever is showing up in the Caller ID cannot be validated coming from that call.
But, DO call that number, which should match the one on the back of one of your cards.
Phone Warrior 2013-08-28 14:56:44 Unknown
CAUTION -- Only "NUMBER" called TO, not from, IS the fraud dept of Bank of America and nothing more. HOWEVER, just because this is their number, you should NEVER rely on the CallerID as an authentic owner of the number. A great fraud would be to impersonate any bank or security dept and then GET all the information from you, and then to perpetuate a fraud.
ONLY use this number to CALL Bank of America's fraud dept. VERIFY that this number is the same one as the one on the back of your card as well.
Yesterday, I did get a call from them, but from a DIFFERENT number. But, they LEFT THIS CALLBACK number, which I called and talked to them. Whoever I talked to either had THE BA computer, or it was truly BA, since they had all my records. Yes, there was a fraud, and they had charged or tried to charge six things in under an hour. So DON'T ignore a call from their fraud dept., But DO immediately call the number on the back.

I got a call from 800-871-1194 which from research sounds like FIA Card Services which told me I had a fraud alert and to call 877-451-4602, to be sure I called my bofa customer care on the back of the card and they eventually told me I also needed to contact security which they would transfer me but it was the same number 877-451-4602. Seems legit.

The first thing they asked when I called back (from a voicemail) was for the full card number. Why would Bank of America ask this? They had given me a "verification" number in the voicemail....
Chloe 2012-11-16 22:51:03 Unknown
Legit about a fraud alert on one of my companies corporate cards (I work at a church, one of the patios is in Africa and he didn't put a travel flag on the account).

Just got a call from this number which I did not trust. So I called Bank of American directly and they did have evidence of fraud on my business account. The number is legitimate.

Number is the direct line to BOA fraud department. I asked the person to confirm who they were, and was directed to call the number on the back of my card. When the customer service department answered, after verifying the account, the person proceeded to read to me a listing of my most recent charges, two of which I informed the agent were not done by me. They had already denied the charges and indicated a new card would be sent via FedX immediately. Was informed that current card would be cancelled at the end of the call to prevent further abuse. For anyone who gets a call such as this, always use the contact information on the back of your credit card to confirm the call is from who they say they are. In this case, this is a valid number, as verified by the agent I spoke with when I called the number on the back of my BOA card.

Called BOA. Number is a fraud.

Just recieved two phone calls from 1-877-451-4602 to both my places of business. Both calls indicated that there was fraudently activity on our biz credit cards and that our cards were being cancelled and that I needed to call back right away. I chose to call my bank directly and the info above was not true. My advice is that when ever you recieve an unsolicated call regarding your credit card is to hang up and then contact your credit card issuer directly (a contact number is always listed on the back of the card) to ensure you are not being scammed.
The interesting this is that our bank had recently contacted us as they were sending new cards due to "internal fraud" so it was tempting to take the unsolicated call.
Sadly, I attempted to report this to my credit card company but they said there was no way they could alert other customer's as no fraud actually occurred. Too bad that they could not send out an alert to all customers in this day and age of email and electronic communication.

It is Bank of America Fraud Department!
Albert14151 2011-06-29 16:33:31 Unknown
BofA isn't using this outfit as a contractor ... the outfit that contacted you and others here is merely a gang of thieves that *pretends to be a BofA contractor.

A person named Loretta called and said that she hasn't received a payment since December, regarding my husband's business credit card account ending in '2354'. If we're experiencing any hardship, she'll be willing to make payment arrangements for us. WE NEVER HAD A BANK OF AMERICA CREDIT CARD! BEWARE OF THIS TYPE OF PHONE CALL!
John 2011-06-06 21:04:25 Unknown
It's not Bank of America...it's FIA card services...they do services for many different banks including Bank of America...but they also do Wachovia, Regions and Edward Jones to name a few...that number goes directly to the business fraud department for business credit cards and lines of credit...when I called I was leary but they told me to call the number on the back of my card if I felt uneasy and the # on the back of my card verfied the number I called...Just call the number on the back of the card and they'll tell you the same thing

Good thing we looked into this! We actually called the number on the back of the BOA card instead and verified this was BOA and there was some shady things going down with our account! We saved ourselves some real trouble!!!
Jennifer 2011-06-06 21:04:25 Unknown
These postings are so funny! I actullay work for fia card services and we do servies several different banks. Working in the business credit card fraud department for many years, if you ever feel uncomfortable about a call ask what department they are calling from and call your bank and asked to be transfered to that dept.

This is a legitimate number from Bank of America. I was suspicious at first but the operator encouraged me to call the the 800 number on the back of my card. I callled that number and was redirected to their fraud department. Someone was using my credit card number to run fraudulent charges. Bank of America was very efficient on the way they handled the problem.
Alex 2010-04-26 21:48:31 Unknown
If you get a call from this number, call the number on the back of your card instead if you want to call to find out. It was real that I had a fraudulent activity on my card and they will issue a new card for me.

The voice mail received had the caller id blocked - I called the number to respond to a possible 'fraud charge' they wanted account numbers, billing zip etc. All normal red flags. I first checked a couple of sites... some stated it was a fraud. I called the number on the back of my card. B of A gave me the number and I called back and took care of the issue.
SHAME ON BofA for using this contractor - the business practice of blocking caller ID, not identifying them-self as BofA and requiring customers to re-verify is not acceptable. Just look at all of the inquiries regarding this number. BofA lost creditability and caused this good customer to waste time.
I faxed a formal complaint to B of A Executive Complaint Department - FAX ONLY: 888-958-2273. I hope others do the same.

This BLOCKED caller id number is the call back number for a company that wants you to give them your Credit Card number over the phone. The said they word for a lot of banks and that I needed to give them my account information. I called Bank of America, they didn't know of this, or the phone number and did not know the company name. They suggested it was an attempt to gain my number.
** WARNING - CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD - NOT THIS NUMBER **

It's the number to the Bank Of America fraud dept.

i a received call from this number stating there was a security hold on my card; i called back and they asked the following "security questions": business name, billing address, security code on back of the card aka cvv. first, this card is under a personal name, no business. i gave them the wrong billing address on purpose, but they knew it was wrong, so i gave them the right one. then, they asked for the cvv. no one should EVER ask you for the cvv, and you should NEVER EVER give it anyone over the phone. they said i can call the number on the back of the card if i didn't feel comfortable. it felt like a scam so i hung up on them.
Doug_B 2010-01-14 19:36:41 Unknown
This # is exactly what they claim to be. Like others, when called and told to call this number I called the 800# on the back of my card. They've actually improved the process... I was redirected to the fraud dept automatically. They were calling because I had entered the wrong expiration date when making an online purchase, and that can trigger a fraud call (thanks, BOA).
DO NOT think "I'm not calling because I don't even have a BOA card". The big banks issue LOTS of store and gas cards... (your Pier One card is really a Chase card, etc.) Look thru all your cards for the last 4 digits the caller gave, and call the number on that card.
