This may be a legitimate offer, but do you realize how many bogus companies call businesses claiming to be from Google Adwords?

Received voicemail message from Kay Mitchell of "google adwords blah-blah-I need-to-speak-to-the person-in-charge-of"  Appeared that she wanted me to think she was calling from Google Adwords.  Claimed that she had some info on "how to keep our click rate consistent."

Guy names "Peter" has been stalking me for weeks. Finally corners me at a weak moment so I speak with him. He asks me for my Google Places login AND password and when I wouldn't give it to him, he proceeds to push Google Adwords on me which is Pay Per Click advertising with Google. I will be contacting my friend at Google with this information. What kind of company needs MY password to access my information?!?

Just got this phone call and thought it was a scam also, but I continued talking to the guy just to see. This guy knew things about my account and business that only an insider at Google would know. He also sent me links real Google links to prove he was who he said. I am about 90% sure this is not a scam.

If you are, in fact, a "google sales mgr." then you are saying that Google does not respect the DO NOT CALL rules--as my phone is listed.  Still sounds suspect.

Sounds like a scam.  If Google was contacting you about ADWORDS your caller ID would have Google on it and not 800- service. Also, you would not hear a lot of boiler room chatter in the background.

got a phone call from 877-456-9995.  they left a message that said they were from "google adwords..then some jumbled up title after".  leading me to believe they were a 3rd party seller of something.  if google wants to offer advertisers something they do it when you log into your account.  there will be an alert in your adwords account informing you of changes or offers.  google does not make sales cold calls.  have been using adwords for 5+  years and never received a sales call from them.

Actually this is a legitimate offer - Google is piloting a line of credit, in the form of a credit card that can only be tied to existing AdWords accounts (it can't be used anywhere else.)    We have sent out direct mail advertising and email advertisements to a random set of customers inviting them to participate in the pilot.    877-456-9995 is the correct number to call if you are interested.   The representative on the phone does NOT ask for or even need your personal financial information - once your account number is verified as on the invitation list, customers are asked to complete an application via a secure website.  I've attached a link to the formal press release from Google's treasurer and VP of Global Online Sales announcing the pilot to the marketplace.

Also received a call from 877-456-9995 from someone claiming to be from Google Adwords. They attempted to get us to change our monthly billing from automatic to statement based. This also seemed like a scam. They claimed to have been calling us for a month but this is the first we heard from them. They did have some of the confidential information about the account which is disconcerting. Such as first 4 digits of the account no, billing contact name and email.

I received a call from 1-877-456-9995 from someone claiming to be from Google Adwords. They offered a line of credit. I refused the offer. The conversation seemed quite scammy and un-Google like.

After I searched for that phone number on the web, I only found references to it from blog posts setup within the last month. That number is also not listed anywhere on Google's official site. In addition, that phone number became available to the public in the past 2 months.

In the brief conversation they requested Tax Identification Numbers and other confidential information. This is definitely not how Google does business.
