I have received texts as of late from 729-329 and 778-93, I have never listed my cell # on  A website, but get junk from these crooks all the time. The FCC should charge the operators of 7#'s a 180% fine for solicitation, false pretenses, media violation etc. The government could literally open a web page to report fraud texts, and pursue the violators and collect every penny applicable in unjust, unrequested texts.

Crap. Just got another one and a call from them.

Guy want's me to finish my transaction I started last night. Said they will send me a $200 Gift Card to Walmart and four $80 fuel vouchers to Diamond Shamrock. I just have to pay $4.95 Shipping and Handling.

I ask what the catch is and he says none, then quietly starts to read off a paragraph really low volume. Basically saying that this is the Walmart survey thanking customers that were selected to receive a voucher for filling out the survey at the bottom of a receipt. He then tells me I'm also being subscribed to a magazine service which I can cancel after 10 days with no penalty, I should receive the Gift Card and Voucher within 30 days. Yeah BS!

I think I'm going to have to have a chat with a GM at the Hickory Creek Walmart in Hickory Creek, TX.

I received the txt msg last night. Called and demanded a refund. Had three of them bozos hang up on me. I'm going to keep calling every night till I get someone that speaks English.

Wow. I could barely understand the guy, he kept asking me for my CC over and over. I demanded to talk to a supervisor. No luck. They hung up. I told them that it is illegal to solicit information in this form. They hung up. Asked who they were, guy says they got my information from a Walmart store that I visited, even told me the store number and name of the manager. Called the store and the clerk told me the store number and the GM. They matched.

I am pissed off over this!

"Hi Randy, you've won a $200 walmart gift card. call 877-306-9995 to claim".I am %100... sure CRAIGSLIST is where they got my number from because it is where i have sold a couple of items with the b***s*** Name Randy. Not My Real Name.... Before the text message,they called me from 321-443-9136; i thought its was one of my customers calling to complain about the merchandise, so i said yea this is Randy, and then the Indian douche-bag told me my credit card had won. I told him that i didn't have a credit card, So he hung up . the next day i got the text message.

Its not the first time i have Received calls from these fools though. sometimes i play Detective and get them into serious question and they usually hang up. Im  always like 3 steps ahead. keep your heads up guys. Don't be a Victim of fraud.

TOTAL FRAUD! Yes, I did vist BLACKFRIDAY sale site and there was an add about Walmart giving away prizes (including $200.00 gift certificates) BUT,belive me--If it sounds too good to be true, it is a scam. I dialed the number and as soon as someone answered, I quickly asked "WHO IS SPEAKING?" WHAT IS YOUR NAME!"....after a pause, a person with a heavy foreign accent said, "What?" I repeated my questions and he hung up!!

and I didn't think of this before but the stop and number they give you isn't the same because my number is stop2069.  They have a list of numbers that they dial and when you reply stop they know your number.

I recieved the txt from 729-329 saying

First off my name isn't gary nor do I even know a gary, and second if its free, why would you have to pay shipping?  I asked my mom and she said that people just dial random numbers for stuff and if you respond to the stop thats there then they know that your number is a live number.

I also got the text about the $200, its all a scam!! I dont know if unsubscribing will help or not, I dont want to respond to them. Did anyone try it? I cant locate the company w/ reverse look up. Call this # to have you phone entered into the national do not call registry, your # will stay registered for 5 years, call from the same # that you want blocked. Cell phone #s went public at the begining of Oct. so I am sure everyone will start recieving more and more unwanted calls:( 888-382-1222.

I got this text and call asking for Mohamed asking to call 877-474-3546.  I also got call from 402-817-0723, 443-390-1400 by telemarketers.

Here's the story behind MY text.  This criminal named Catreen Anderson told the police department in her town that she had my cell phone number when she bought a "phone in the box" (throw away phone).  This person has continued to use my number...enters it online all over the place trying to get financial, aid or whatever.  If a phone number is required on Facebook....she uses my number....I got this test to "Hi Catreen!"...so I know she entered it.  I did not call the number...I'm posting this to let you know that it may not be anything YOU did, or any site that YOU went to....it could be some crminal like Catreen Anderson who keeps using my number.

Yes I am sure it is a scam! They definitely don't like it when you ask questions.  The first one just kinda put me on hold and never came back.  The second one was rude as hell!

i got a text on yesterday saying hi HOP, Thx 4 visiting our site call 8774743546 to claim your free $200 hundred walmart gift voucher! I called and gave the dude the giftcode and he asked me for my address and confirmed my number, but afterwards he told me i would have to pay a $4.75 shipping and handling price, then told me everything was totally on them!! I hung up.

I've received multiple calls from this group asking for "Yolanda". Every time I say no you have the wrong number, and they hang up without saying anything else. I received the text today for the first time. This is actually pretty ironic as I cancelled my credit card at the weekend as I got caught with phising.

My question is, has anyone actually sent the message and unsubscribed? Do you know if they charged you for it?
Also, what about just calling them to ask them to remove your number? I appreciate what denni04011 said about calling on private so they won't have confirmation what your number is, but this would defeat the purpose of unsubscribing.

I called and demanded, in a less than polite way the name of the business. it's Home Protection out of Los angeles, he said, basically they atre looking for your CC number and you will be getting surprise charges.
Then he asked for my cell number, because I dialed *67 to block it. Be sure to dial *67 in front of their number if you feel the urge to call them, they won't have your cell nujmber to sign you up to anything else that way.

I'll call tracfone tomorrow and get a new number,not a big deal.

I did hear on the radio some of the applications on Facebook, the ones that ask for your cell number to get the results, are signing you up to these crooks, so never give your cell number to ANY applications on myspace,facebook or any other networking sites.

lol so i called. when they answered, it was like a lot of noise and commotion going on in the background. I asked what company this was and he didnt respond. then i guess he caught on that i was calling regarding a text message. He stated his name and asked if i received a text message. I told him yes, then he asked for the gift code. i asked him what for? he told me that this was an appreciation from the company. i asked what company and what site did i enter my number on? he couldn't tell me so i asked him again. he claimed he couldn't hear me. So he said "its simply a gift to you". I asked him again what company? lol guess i pissed him off cause he asked me to hold, and i hung up lol. and didnt call back.

Yeah, they just want your credit card number.  They told me I won a $200 Walmart card but I have to pay shipping, I kinda said no thank you and hung up as soon as they asked me for my credit card number.

I too got the text sayin the same thing. Is it craig's list related? So far they have been the single biggest source of mystery calls and texts i have gotten. There is an unsubscribe number listed as STOP20512Unsub. Was curious if it was a double scam because texting to a non regular number can also charge added fees to your phone bill.

I also received a text like that, what should I do now? Is it true?

wow....i just got the call too! what should we do. this isnt my first one from this number either
