They called for a free trial and somehow  - talking very fast - made one my guest at my place a kind of a nod for the service (they claim they have a voice confirmation of that guest of mine ) - then after the trial period started Billing me from Jan 0f 2010.

Today when I was checking my Bill found out this charges and called a BestWeb USA .com company Tel # 888 659 8800 - who were willing to cancel the service BUT not refund - a lady told me that I had signed up with Comtelusa.net and I called them on 877 477 5153 - they too were reluctant to refund my old charges BUT told me will return my last bill amount of $ 34.95

This is definately a SCAM and would request the right authorities to catch the culprits - so that such tactics are STOPPED for good.

This company falsely claimed I authorized their service and have $228.59 of charges from them. When I called to complain, they said they supposedly had a verbal recording from me authorizing the service- it's been 3 weeks since I requested to hear this non-existent recording (when it was only to take 1 week). I called for 3 weeks trying to get a refund and all they could give me was a measly credit of 3 months of service, and that's with me speaking to the supposed manager. My only option now is to write a complaint letter to the headquarters, I just hope it's not returned as undeliverable.......

I also got scammed by Com Tel Communication for its 34.95 monthly internet hosting service. I learned that without my authorization Com Tel has been billing me since late 2007, and accumilated total of 803 dollars of "service" I don't need and never used.

The solution I learned from painfully dealing with Com Tel is to first contact them patiently. They will put you on hold, make you lose your patience so please hang on. The first goal is to get a confirmation number about canceling that bogus service. You would be surprised how willingly they would offer a 3 months credit refund. But if you were like me, had been charged longer than that, then the representative would say that he or she is not authorize to give more credit. Asking to speak to a supervise is hitting a wall, you would never get a call back as promise.

You then need to call your phone company's billing department, in my case Verizon. You first need to ask for a "cram block." That would block any 3rd party company from billing you through your main phone provider in the future (i.e. Verizon)
You then ask to speak to a supervisor, he or she would more than likely to give you a standard response that (Verizon) has no investigative authority to determine certain 3rd party charge appear on your bill as legit or not. Ignore this reasoning, and directly ask this supervisor to send back the charge to the offending scammer ( Com Tel, in my case)
It appeared that this supervisor can only send back one year worth of charges in dispute. This obviously does not cover my total damage, but it is a good start. Verizon will immediately place this disputed charges as credit on your account. And Com Tel would have to bill you independently for this amount. I am looking forward to receive a bill from those scammers.

I am of course furious and frustrated by how this seemingly dishonest conducts can continue to scam customers without any government interference. Anyone know of a class action law suit please post it.

My billing was a total surprise.  Was billed last month on my company bill but I did not catch it, was on a back page.  Was billed this month and told will be one more already gone thru for next month.  On my company bill Tericom was handled thru a 3rd party company: ILD Teleservices (1 800 433-4518(They could not give me a no at all for Telecom). They were very nice, issued a credit and a block on my account, got a confirmation number and name.  Called AT&T; they issued a block and credited my account for 2 already billed; will have to call back when the 3rd one bills for that cr.  We talked to noone; they found our website and just billed us without our knowledge.  The key is the 90 day window; after that AT&T says they can do nothing without the credit from the 3rd party biller. However, if you have a Public Service Commissioner in your area, do call. That is "magic words".  AT&T does not like to be reported to them.  I had a sticky problem some yrs ago, could not resolve, but PSC did. Hope this helps.  Kathy

Same story here. I called the number and someone, who sounded like his entire day was spent handing out cancellation numbers, assured me I won't be charges.  Fax into the number he provided - 973-743-0338. (Somehow I don't believe him.  Just an additional con so I might forget to scan the details of my phone bill.)  These guys are very slick con-artists with what appears to be a long history with the FTC running other cons.  The cut and paste voice authorizations is an especially nice touch.  They seem to be targeting small businesses, probably because we seldom open all the "junk mail" we receive and almost never look at the details of our telephone bills. I filed a complaint with the FTC and I hope they don't wait.  The FTC should name VERIZON as co-conspirators for selling this garbage.

Add another one to the list.  Employee said no, thanks to their repeated harassment and then a letter shows up one day before the 2-week "free" period is due to expire saying that we will be charged on local phone bill for $34.95 for ComTel's "services."

Called the number and managed to get someone on the phone, who sounded like his entire day was spent handing out cancellation numbers.  Tried to fax into the number he provided - 973-743-0338 - and got no answer 4 times.  Called back and got the same guy (!) who said "That fax number is getting slammed right now, you might try again in 15 minutes, or maybe tomorrow morning."  Got him to confirm cancellation number, and tried to fax again five minutes later and got a confirmation that it went through.  Ugh.

Telemarketer
Same as above - got my April phone bill with two charges from Tericom Networks, LLC. Billing was put on my AT&T phone bill using The Billing Resource. Got them to block further billing and get charges reversed for the 2 months they billed on recent bill. Based on response from The Billing Resource(a 3rd party billing company) they are at least somewhat aware that Tericom Networks, LLC is a fraud. Googled Tericom Networks, LLC and got a one person company at 53 Harvey Rd, Clifton, NJ 07012, 973-779-1201

Same BS letter. Called them and told the nice operator from the answering service that I would be contacting law enforcement if I saw any fraudulant billing. She gave me a fax number to confirm cancellation at 973-743-0338. The name of the employee who supposedly signed up for it does not exist.

Here's the letter I faxed and mailed to ComTel Communications-- a total scam business:
April 3, 2009
    FAX: 973-743-0338
    2 PAGES
ComTel Communications
590 Bloomfield Avenue, Box 359
Bloomfield, NJ  07003
877-477-5153
www.comtelusa.net

To Whom It May Concern:

Please see the attached copy of your correspondence with my notations cancelling the ?service? that you say I signed up for?even though I specifically made it clear with the person who called that I am NOT signing up for any paid service and that I do want to have to cancel anything.  Of course, the telemarketer was mumbling at FedEx speed, and probably threw in some kind of disclaimer mumbo jumbo. I should have told her to forget everything at that point... but, dumb me, I didn't.

When I called to cancel my service today (10:30 ? 10:50 am ET), I was immediately put on hold for 10 minutes.  Then someone asked me for my phone number and name, and put me on hold again for another 10 minutes (I am typing this letter as I am waiting).  Your ?Customer Care? line is obviously a ?Customer Avoidance? line?- by design, I?m sure.

I finally talked with Migdalia at extension 355 (who sounded polite? but also like she had been eating a snack?probably while I was waiting on hold), and she did issue me a cancellation number: 000599.  She told me to fax my cancellation letter to 973-743-0338.

Your so-called business is disgusting and is a blight on all true business in America.  I don?t know how you guys can live with yourself as human beings. Why not use your creativity to provide a real service for people, instead of coming in to work everyday to shaft people and waste their time.

Sincerely,

Bill

Okay, this is the second time this has happened in three months to my business. They call to "update our yellow page listing", an employee answers who doesn't know any better, and 16-17 days later we receive a letter that says "....After your initial 14 days, ending on 27-Mar, your new web profile and e-mail service will be conveniently billed to your local telephone bill on the ILD page, billed on behalf of ComTel Communications for only $34.95 per month unless cancelled by you." On both occasions this letter arrived 2-3 days after the end of your 14-day free trial period. And I love how they say, they are "conveniently" billing our local telephone comapany. Thanks for the convenience. Would a slap to the face be a convenient way to show my gratitude? And how it's a great deal at $34.95--when in reality they are giving me absolutely no tangible benefit to my business. We already have a personal e-mail address, thank you. Rant over. As per some of the above posts, I am going to place a third-party block with Verizon (who, in my opinion, is somewhat complicit in this simply by agreeing to be a third party biller without finding out if the charges they are sticking to people are legitimate. Also, will report this business to the Better Business Bureau.

Just got the letter today stating that i was going to be charged $34.95 to my phone bill as of March 7, 2009. I was surprised since I received this letter on March 9, 2009. So I called the 877-477-5153 right away and some guy named Jason picks up the phone, asks for your phone number then puts you on hold right away so that he can "verify your account". Anyways, after a few minutes, I typed in this phone number to Google.com and came up to this page. So I hung up the phone and called Verizon right away. Luckily for us, we have yet to be charged and had the 3rd party blocking put in place. The rep at Verizon says that he was not surprised to get my call regarding ComTel Communications, this was nothing new for him and he hears complaints about it all the time. So everyone be aware. The Verizon rep says that they only thing we can do to help other people to avoid this problem is to file a complaint to the FTC, the complaint can be completed online as well at http://www.ftc.gov/index.shtml

My AT&T account showed a charge for $34.95 for a service from Comcast Communications, LLC which I did not recognize.  It took me more than 2 hours to resolve the issue. I made phone calls to my AT&T carrier, The Billing Resource 888-296-8079, and ComcastComm.(1877-779-1201)they refused to have made the charge until I threatened to file a claim and suit at which time they gave me a cancellation confirmation to the service I had never requested. Be persistant!

Same comtel communication....saying it had a free service....I repeatedly said no but they kept pushing and nothing like my usual self I got sucked in!  Do not get sucked in....it is not free and it can change your carrier.  Keep calling the 877-477-5153 and if they put you on hold call again and again....do not wait or yell "no" when they ask you to hold.  This is not free!  I never fall for this stuff but somehow I did this time.

I was taken in by this so called "free internet listing-update, the woman talked too fast and couldn't answer questions, so the manager talked to me, a Mr. Christian Dunn, and how I had two weeks to respond back, he was sketchy about any cost details, and to just check it out.  That was on 12-02-08. The mail was posted to me on 12-12-08 from Bloomington, New Jersey. 590 Bloomfield Ave, Suite  359, Bloomington, NJ. 07003
It was received on 12-16-08. Right a the two week point.  Their mailing address is a UPS mail box in Bloomington, New Jersey. They were planning to bill my phone line service. Call your phone company and put 3rd party blocking for charges onyour phone line, so these kind of scam artist's can' get in thru the back door.  File a complaint with the FTC ASAP

Hi, I was more foolish than you folks.  I gave the rep pernission to sign my bosses business  into the 14 day free trial.  She was talking so fast and it wasn't until the very end that she mentioned the huge per-month charge if I didn't cancel via the 1-877 number.  I quickly jotted it down, found the company www.comtelusa.net and sent several emails asking for immediate cancellation.  I did this because like some of you, when I called the 877 number, their message box was full.

Over the next few days, my emails returned "undeliverable" because it's a dummy address. I was frantic and furious.  Finally, on day 14 I said a prayer, made the call again--and wouldn't you know?  A friendly customer service rep answered and cancelled the account. Three days later I called again, got a customer service rep who verified the cancellation.   Please keep calling.

The "internet yellow pages" calls my office at least once a week.  They try to confirm my information for my "free" listing but since they don't show up on my caller ID, I always ask for their customer service #.  It doesn't do any good to report a scammer unless you have a phone number, but I doubt I'll ever get the real one.  Usually they immediately hang up on me once I ask, but today they gave me 1-877-477-5153.  I know they are spammers, so if they try to talk to me at all I say "I do not want your services, do not call me ever again" and then hang up.  They are persistent!

Please be aware that these callers are not actually providing you any "free" services, and you shouldn't even bother being polite because sometimes they will cut/paste your words into a phone call that sounds like you ordered something . . . imagine what they could do if they ask you to confirm your name/address/phone number/business and you say "yes . . . yes . . . that's correct . . . yes"  Please don't be fooled!
