My wife and I did pay $2500 for the same package and was promised a lot of extras like free condo stays and an additional cruise and flight to anywhere. This was in May of 2011. We called to use our free cruise in Feb of 2012 and was told they went out of business in July of 2011 after they got our money. What a scam.

They are in Texas today and when I called the number, the person who answered asked me for a confirmation code. It is assumed this indicated the location for the sales pitch that is required to get the gift certificates.  Because she said that the promotion was ending tomorrow (Saturday) and I did not have chance to attend today, I was certain this was a high pressure sales process.

When I asked if there were fees associated with redeeming the gift, I was told that there are port fees and associated taxes that will be required and that there is a 90 day wait period and that it is good for 1 year.  Having been through a different deal where the restrictions were so rigid, and cruises can be had at such a great rate anyway....it was going to be more expensive to use the free one.  Coupon was shredded and I booked a cruise with better conditions (date of travel, room type, etc...). These freebies are not free (no surprise) but with a little legwork, you can find a better deal outside of the free trip (which has a lot of restrictions) and skip the hard closing sales pitch.  Wife hates these with a passion.

Sounds like the presentation is for membership in a travel club. This is the typical run-the-sales-gauntlet-for-freebies trip where you will be hounded by professional sharks to buy club memberships in the  $thousands. Beware of hidden limitation clauses in the contract and hidden fees. All perfectly legal but do you really want to swim with sharks?

Received a post card in the mail for a complimentary cruise and round trip airfare tickets but I must attend a 90 minute presentation. It appears to be a legit offer just for 90 minutes of time. Anyone been on the cruise?

Okay, so NOW I have some real research.  For anyone thinking of attending this seminar, please read these two NEWS articles first.  As of May 9, 2011, the attorney general's office settled a $3 million lawsuit against the person believed to be running the Travel Deals office.  (And FYI, there's no website for this 'company'.)

http://www.nj.com/business/index.ssf/2011/05/ ... g_route_of.html

There's another article from Newsroom NJ, but my computer is acting up and won't go back so I can find the link.  Sorry!

Suffice it to say, this is too good to be true, and LOTS of people - legitimate, involved - have had problems with this company.  BEST to avoid it, don't go; it would be the only guaranteed way to put this man out of business.  At least make sure you read the articles prior to giving them a dime.  Buyer beware.

So, we are going to the presentation tomorrow.  We were asked to bring a credit card, it would not be swiped or even handed over, and I can cover the numbers for security.  This is standard in a lot of travel sales (timeshares, etc), because if you can't afford a credit card you're not creditworthy enough to deal with.  Sorry folks, but this is business, after all.

My husband and I did the unthinkable a couple years ago - we bought into a timeshare.  But we bought ours on the points plan, not a weeks, and we LOVE it.  I mean, L O V E.  For $139 a week (plus whatever points, our last trip was 34,000 points and we never use them up annually), we can get a 2 bedroom, full kitchen condo, fireplace, balcony, ... you get the idea.  And using our points, we go ANYwhere.  We traveled to Cancun with them, use them to get airline tickets, stayed for a week of skiing in Utah; people who hate timeshares either weren't financially prepared to pay it off, or don't really want to travel a lot.  My point - sorry, I digress - is that SOME of these offers are legitimate and you can miss out if you aren't open minded.  Of course, you also can't be a fool.  We don't get pressured, we say no when we mean it, and we research.

I don't know if "NJ Res" is a part of this or not, and "TRACleveland" is in OH, so it's hard to say how closely these are connected.  I will try to post back in the next couple of days to update on how things went.

And yes, it is possible this is a joke, but since not one person who posted has actually gone to this, it sounds like everyone else is just flaming each others' fires.  And FYI, one of the reasons they have an F from the BBB is their length of time in business.  Even Starbucks and Walmart had a starting point; so they would have had a rating like that, too.

I recently attended (yesterday) there little sales pitch.  I knew what it was going in, but decided to go and listen for fun.  Let me preface this by explaining that I own a business and that my primary function is to recruit and train sales professionals into low impact/soft closers.  I went more as an experience to see the "hard line" closer mentality and for the free trip.

Fact 1: The event took place at a Marriott.  Not a bad hotel.

Fact 2: Only the 1099 girl out front had a business card or would provide me with one.

Fact 3: There is a general manager (sales manager) who does the presentation after a quick "survey" designed to find your hot buttons.  The talker was very entertaining and very informative.  The package program regardless of the pricetag is actually a good deal if you have the money to spend and you are a traveler. Also given that the package is legit.

Fact 4: Having our own personal table closer who positively stunk of "need money, in college, will do ANYTHING" in his windbreaker and button down in place of a sports jacket did nothing to improve the system.

Fact 5: After we said no, not now, they brought in the heavy closer.  Aside from wearing every piece of faded jewelry he owned to impress and blowing me over with his tooth decayed breath, he immediately dropped the offer to 2500.00 for the platinum.

I was quite open to purchasing the platinum package.  At full retail price.  Later.  We have bills that must be met this quarter to keep the office open.  I am well aware that later normally means never.  However we were told that we could never have this chance again.  Oh, they also mentioned there are 5 companies like them.  I suppose I could go with another one.  I was also told at this point that they only give business cards to buyers.

Fact 6: The free travel package requires you to activate it within 21 days.  You have a 90 day waiting period.  You may only book in off season months (Sept-December).  If you leave from any major port, there are extra fees.  If your trip includes any day within 7 days of any holiday on either side, there are fees.  You must register by paying 100 for dock fees and 75 for the flight fees. (I am told those are legit.)

Received a post card about Complimentary 8 Day Cruise just like everyone else, but I live in Ohio.  It sounds like this New Jersey Company has moved to Ohio.  The post card refers to a company called Buckeye Vacations at 18615 Detroit Rd. St. B, Lakewood, Ohio 44107.  I?m glad I checked the internet, because this confirmed my suspicions.

All sounds like a great deal to me. You cannot say it is as scam unless you go to the seminar. Travel Deals could be a legit company you don't know for sure. I have an appointment Saturday and was never asked to bring my credit card. You better call so you don't lose out on the deal.

Nice Job IDMAN7.... I was going to call the number for chuckles, but instead decided to Google it first and found your posts. I had to laugh when I read that {CARL} said that a Driver's License or Passport for travel could be stolen, but when thinking about it, I suppose a Credit Card or Checkbook could not be stolen??!! lmao...What a joke.  I have a quick temper, so better that you made the call than me...lol

I received the same card.  I laughed because I live inland and would LOVE to see the new port where this giant cruise ship would enter.  At least that is the way I read it.  My mantra is...if it sounds too good to be true, then it is!  Thanks for being brave enough to call the number to find out what the scam actually was...I'm sure they wanted a "down payment" for the free trip.  Makes sense to me....NOT!!    Oh, and most of us have caller ID and know exactly who is trying to reach us.  I can account for all the numbers on my ID.

I just received the same post card. i always look for scams first and found your post and read it word for word laughing the whole time and you are right--how do they know if it is 48 hours since i received the card. Anyway I decided to call the number to see what they had to say and try to find out WHO was having a grand opening. found out it was {Travel Deals in Marlton, NJ}. The guy {CARL} was a fast talker and said it was good after one of those 90 minute seminars and a few other REQUIREMENTS that i would need to match in order to qualify for the deal. First.DO YOU HAVE A MAJOR CREDIT CARD? {i said no}.o.k.then,  DO YOU HAVE A CHECK BOOK? {i said no}.SORRY YOU DO NOT QUALIFY. I asked WHY? and he said it was for ID reasons and I said , oh thats OK, I have a Licence and Passport for traveling. He quickly said that they were NOT good enough because people can steal them..I LAUGHED. I then said again, so because I cant give you a credit card or checkbook info I can not take the vacation, he said that was correct and that was the qualifications, i laughed again and asked if this was a scam or something--HE HUNG UP!

Postcard received....in celebration of our Grand Opening in your area<<<okay what grand opening???where exactly in my area????name of company that was having a grand opening???? gee my my//never a mention as to who was/had a grand opening. Hmm...this is interesting....I was selected to receive a Complimentary 8day/7-Night Cruise for 2  with an outside cabin, leaving from any major port in the US, including New York City. I wonder why this postcard annoucement makes mention oif NYC and not Ft Lauderdale..or Miami or Philadelphia etc. Wait there's more...If I call withing 48 hours I will also receive as a bonus 2 roundtrip airfares leaving from or going to any major airport in the continental US. How in god's name do they know if I contacted them within 48 hours when the postcard I received was by bulkmail. They have NO clue when anyone would reveid it unless it was certified and return receipt requested and had a signature on it. Hmm..this 'company' that has been trying to reach me by phone and now sends this postcard to my attention lists some ports of call on the postcard for al lto see. NYC, Freeport,St Thomas. Wowzer LOL. Oh wait...I jsut read this is not a timeshare or land sale offer. Oh gosh..i feel so much better and can sense this is REALLY a legit offer. I never did nor will i call the number listed however I'd love to see the sweatbox floor where the calls are received to watch the scammers and low lifes try to suck money and informaion from unsuspecting individuals
