My husband and I were contacted by "Sunrise Travel"--we attended the presentation last night (08/31/2011) in Bend, OR, at the Oxford Hotel in lower level--last minute reschedule from Phoenix Hotel. They first called and asked us if we were over 50 years each and what our income level was. Apparently, they want older people with fairly high income levels (over $50K/year). Then they ask that you attend a 1.5 hr presentation in order to get your "free gift." We ended up staying well past 2 hours with pressure tactics aimed at us to buy. At first, they told our group of 5 couples that the meeting was just a meeting to get our opinion on the opening of a new branch of their travel agency in the Northwest--which I now know was a complete lie. Then, they talked about "C.A.R.E. Travel" as a broker company from which they buy excess travel (air and hotel). In order to "join," you must pay $7,995 plus annual dues of $279 and another fee of $399 (documentation fee--whatever that is), and another one-time fee. This gets you into this supposedly great club where you can purchase last-minute travel deals and save $2000 off each of them. They give you this slick presentation showing why it's so cheap in the long run because you can stay anywhere for from $299 to $799 per week--including exclusive and expensive condos that only the rich and famous can usually afford. When we refused, they pressured and pressured...then finally reduced the price to $4995 from $7995. When we still refused, they said they'd do a 5-year trial--anything to get our signature on a contract--for $1295. We told them "no" again, and asked for our free gift that was promised, which was a free airline ticket (US Airlines) and free cruise. The man got angry with us and gave us a voucher for a "free cruise" (which expires this September--next month), and then basically told us to leave. We were the last ones there--everyone else had just left and didn't buy anything--so we were their last best hope. We tried to grab the notes we had taken at the presentation, and the man grabbed them first--did NOT want us to walk out with anything that could incriminate them.
From what we could tell, when pressed, they admitted you could not book popular destination trips except during "down periods." Their offers were only good for last minute travel deals. My husband and I both agreed that you could find the same deals (or cheaper) they pretended to offer to "members only" of this exclusive club just by doing a few simple searches on the Internet--without paying the $7,995, plus annual membership dues and other fees.

I called, it seems to be for a 90 minute time share presentation. I was told I was not eligible because I said I was single and not living with anyone. Just a scam to me
