If your husband gave them remote access to your computer then yes, they can have got yopur personal information.  That is why the scammers don't ask for money until AFTER they have got access/.  The know most people will refuse to pay and end the call but,m by then the damage has been done. You need to gewt your computer checked out locally to remove anythjing they have put in.  You should also inform your bank (if you do n-line banking) and any companies you use for on line purcasing.  If you have access to another computer change all your passwords on that machine.  Do not change them on your own machine until after it has been checked out.  You can tell your husband that there is no such thing as a Microsoft Windows warranty and never has been.  The people who 'phone are just thieves and scammers who know nothing about our machines.  Neither Microsoft, nor its partners would ever 'phone.  It would be a breach of their privacy rules.  There is a warning about this scam on the Microsoft website.

I am at work, but my husband called and said that a guy by the name of John Lonvecs in Albany, NY from a company by the name of Tech Resolve (he gave a phone # of 877-502-3467) said that our Microsoft Windows software warranty ran out "yesterday" and that there was a hacker that tried to get into our computer. This guy asked him to go to the computer and enter some information so that "John" could show him all the errors in our computer, which my husband did (problem) but then he mentioned  that it would cost $149 to "resolve" all of the errors and renew our Microsoft Windows software warranty.  At that point, my husband told him that he would have to check with me before doing anything further.  "John" basically hung up.  Is there any chance that any of my information would have already been hacked by this guy for the little bit of time he was on my computer??

I got a call today from 1-888-605-1560.  The person with a heavy Indian accent said he had received error messages from my computer.  He asked me to go to my computer.  I asked him his name.  He replied "Max Jordan".  I asked him where he lives.  He replied "New York".  I asked him if he had ever been convicted of a felony.  He said "no".  I asked him who is he working for.  He asked why I wanted to know.  I asked him why he wanted me to go to my computer.  Then he hung up

I got a call at 9:45pm telling me they were Microsoft tech service and I hung up since it was so late and after solicitors can call. Then the next night at 8pm I got another call from a different person and this time I got their number and name. They are Tech Resolver and phone number is 877-502-3476. They said they were from New York but the accents for three different people one being the supervisor were all the same and did not appear to be from New York. I immediately hung up and reported them to the FCC.

Called provided 877-502-3467 as the number to call to verify that they were legit.  Caller ID showed the caller was John Kendall at 347-753-9068 (but I have heard these are faked also).   The rep said they were calling from Tech Resolver in Albany, NY.  When I played along they transferred me to a Sr Tech, David Watson.  their story was the typical scam that my computer was sending error messages to me and they were calling to help me fix it or else my computer would lock up and not come on again.  They said they had my IP address and some other computer ID.  He wanted me to go into the windows key to look it up.  He hung up on me when I said I wouldn't do anything until I checked them out, and that I suspect they were malicious frauds, as has been reported.  They had very good english, but still obviously foreign, probably asian.

I had 2 calls this week from the 347-753-9068 on my caller id.  I believe it was the same who called me a couple of weeks ago from a weird number like all 1's & 9"s - that one immediately hung up on me.  So they are definitely working it!

I also received a phone call saying I was having constant "error and warnings' on my laptop.  The first phone call came last year from a "Sam Wilson" and a very rude man whose name I didn't get.  This guy had the nerve to even have turned on my camera on my laptop when I told him I could not afford to pay for the service.  The second phone call came just this pat Friday from someone named "Alex".
The conversation was the same. All of them had very thick Indian accents.

this company has called before and today they called again.  Claim there is a computer with virus that must be shut down to resolve and they are only ones to do it.  Asked for company name and he provided Tech Resolver ph 877 205-3467 and gave me his name as Max Gordon.  Vey heavy accent for this type name.  He became very agitated when I told him I'd investigate and call them back.  Kept stating I did not understand.  Very persistent up to and including when I finally hung up on him.

Had  a call onmy  home phone line  from "Jim Wilson" with a heavy foreign accent. Asked him for  his phone number and he said it was 877-502-3467.  He said my computer is sending error messages to Microsoft  each time I log on.   He asked me to go to my computer keyboard and follow certain steps which he would lead me through. I ended the call.  Seemed like a hoax or a scam.

I had a call today from Harry Jones at Tech Resolver who advised me he was a representative of Microsoft.  As I am aware of the scam I told him that I did not even have Microsoft Programming on my computer as it was an Apple.  He said he also fixes Apple computers.  I asked for all his information and said I would pass it on to my computer tech who will call him back to fix the problems. He gave me all dodgy details.

I have had repeated calls from down-town Mumbai from people with names like Peter Smith, James Brown and Stephen Gibbs all of whom are asking to speak to a Mrs Catterall, who is not me obviously, and I always put the phone down after saying I wasn't. Eventually I decided to listen to what Mr Stephen Gibbs had to say. He didn't claim to be from Microsoft just said they were an independent company who "supported" windows users and talked about the "error messages" being sent by may computer. After a very long time I eventually said that I was not near my computer and would have to call them back when I was. The number I was given was 0800 032 5309 which I decided to call, and it appeared to be an Indian call centre. I asked if the woman that answered was religious or believed in Karma because although I sympathised that she was only trying to make a living just like the rest of us, I didn't envy her next life for what Tech Resolver was doing to vulnerable people. If it happens again I will try one of the techniques mentioned above.

Said my PC was going to crash any minute, and they had been getting messages from my computer of serious viruses that cant be detected by normal anti-virus software. Everything sounds and looks good, even their Website. They wanted $320 for lifetime protection.

It has been true that my PC has been very slow and getting caution messages.

They said my internet, router, laptop, battery, hard drive files and programs were all infected. He showed me duplicate files with .PNF

Call comes in from 877-502-3467. When they get you to boot up your computer,  you are shocked to see a "blue screen" like they told you you would. They get you to agree to do a remote session because they "are only trying to help". They work for Microsoft and been getting error reports from your computer.  Then the kicker-- they show you the "Event :og" where it shows all these "events' and the end of the list says "Software Warranty Expired, Hackers Active".

I disconnected from the session. My computer would not work. Passwords change.

Had to go through a Total Restore.

But--they called back. Same person. Asking me how my computer was doing. This time, the phone number showed--877-502-3467.  I called the number back and found out they were TechResolvers.com".

TOTAL SCAM

Pass the word.

Received my first call today from the number in question.  Since I NEVER answer calls that are out of my area code I didn't know who was calling.

Thanks to this site and the people who posted their experiences I was able to find out about the caller.

Thank you everyone...

I have  now been called 3 successive times on three successive weekdays.  First time I hung up.  Second time I asked who he was working for and he hung up.  Third time I decided to play along  for awhile;  they want access to my computer (Ha!  I'm old by I ain't stupid and I am computer savvy).  He told me he worked for Tech Resolvers;  I asked him if Tech Resolvers worked for Microsoft.  He said they work for  Windows.  I said there no such thing as Windows, as a company, that it's Microsoft.  He was very insistent; told me they were getting many error messages from my computer.  I asked him how that was possible. He said he had the serial number for my computer (!).  Long and short of it, and told him not to call me again.  I notified some governmental agency about the scam.  I am now going to write them again and link them to this page, because these guys seem to have gotten really aggressive since the last time I posted.

This company called me and said they worked for Microsoft and my computer had many viruses. They instructed me for several hours to try to use my password to open the computer. Luckily, I had been frustrated with this computer and had been using my laptop instead. Consequently, I had forgotten my password! They worked very diligently to try to get me to access the computer.  They were Indian men who impressed me with their patience and kind manner. I honestly believed they were trying to help me. When I could not access my laptop, they advised I hire a computer technician to retrieve my password. They gave me the 877-502-3467 number to call them back.
My son advises me this is a scam and I am fearful he is correct. I feel vulnerable and naive.  For once, my computer stupidity paid off when I could not open Windows to let them proceed to do what might have come next.

Prank Call
Received a call from this number and spoke with a woman with a very thick Asian accent. She reported that my computer was in danger and instructed me to log on to the computer immediately to run a series of tests. She also said that if I did not run these tests, my computer would be "shut down". Highly aggressive call. When asked for name and number, she provided "Christina" with a phone number of 877.502.3467. She reported the company's name was "Tech Resolver".
