My Sister got a call looking for information about me from 877/552-5907.
She said the caller ID said Client Services but the woman did not say the company she was with. She identified herself only as Shannon Roberts, obviously a fake name.

Seems they have gotten good at linking family members together - using Facebook!

Called looking for someone and left a phone message on my landline and then my cell phone. Debt agency or collection agency. I asked them to remove my number from their database. They will not identify themselves to you. I don't know how they got my number but it is annoying to have these calls for others that you do not know or do not want to share any info about with strangers.

They called and Karen Whitaker left a voicemail for me to call her back at 877-552-5907, x54972. She was "looking to confirm or correct information for [my ex-wifes name]. If you have any location information that could be useful please give me a call at 877-552-5907", Client services has called me from a different phone number. This is some sneaky people. They're looking up info to try to get you to call back. It's a SCAM!

Received a call from David Simpson looking for a particular person. 877-552-5907 When I called back the automatic answering machine said it was "CLIENT SERVICES".

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Karen Whitaker is the name of the person calling to request personal information. Does not sound legit. Be careful.

I keep receiving phone calls from this agency, saying they are attempting to collect a debt. I DO NOT owe any money to any institution. I refuse to give personal information on the phone. They keep asking for my date of birth and other information. I am NOT answering any more calls.

It's obvious from the post above that the idiot who wrote it is "one of them". At least we, the public, do have some rights now that those creeps and scum have to follow..otherwise they get dinged financially. I have a friend who has dinged this company two times before for unethical practices. She quite enjoyed it and said it was well worth the effort to go after the collectors for a change! Don't be intimidated!
| Get real! 2012-10-26 03:27:22 Unknown |
anyone wanna explain whats unethical about the banks and businesses who loan you "money" that is NOT free...outsourcing their recovery needs to company's that know how to use tactics like near-by and relative calls to recover their assets (which by the way both tactics are totally a legitimate practice as far as Federal law is concerned)......To you it may be a dirty job, but it's the second oldest known profession and someone's gotta do it.........You all try to complain, and hide behind each other's complaint's about these so called, "unethical" companies, who otherwise wouldn't even be in business if weren't for people thinking they are special and don't have to pay for things like the rest of us........P.S. If you can afford that cell phone you're on, with the new ring-back tone every week, cigarettes, beer, the HBO playing in the background, etc......then you don't need welfare, or food stamps, and you can pay your bills! The problem is you people are to weak to have a conversation with someone that could even possibly result in some sort of discomfort for you......when in reallity, if you would just answer your phone, have a quit polite chat with us you'd be amazed what we can do to help. settling your debts for starters......who do you think is paying for the banks to be able to say "We'll take 40% and we're good"? People like myself who pay thier minimum payments with interest for years on end just to not default on things and give up even trying....Get a grip people......try maybe looking at what you are doing wrong in your own lives instead of always looking for a scapegoat or someone to blame for all your problems....own it, it's yours! WELCOME TO CAPITALISM, QUIT CRYIN!

A "Jill Anderson" from Client Services at 1-877-552-5907 Ext. 54823 called a former employer on his personal cell phone asking for me. I have no idea what this is regarding but after reading previous posts, I have no intention of calling. It's incredible how unethical scum businesses like this can continue to operate in this country.

Notes:
Watch them closely, known to change rates, sloppy validation, over-zealous collectors who appear to excel in FDCPA violations.
This is one collector who clearly defines what YUK is.
Settled a class action lawsuit which costs them in excess of $600k.
Be careful of their claims, they have been known to pad charges.
They cannot/do not file legal claims so don't buy their lies.
Also will call third parties, even your church if they can get the number.
Is YUK! to lite in describing them? These are nasty, ugly and disgusting collectors who desreve all the wrath a consumer lawyere can heap on them.
Stay far away from them, they should never be trusted or get your hard earned money.

Sounds like a debt collection service or something of that nature.
They certainly will not give any information and when you call back to get the swithch board operator ,
she tells you that she has "many clients" and can therefore not give any information.

The number they used was !-877-552-5907, and it is called Client Services. Why don't they send me a letter, so I can give it to my attorney.
