I got a text with the name of one of my ex-employees name on it and referring me to an 877 number. Definately sketchy.

Same here. I keep getting text messages from another number (a 704 area code number) that I applied for a Postal Clerk position and this person wants me to respond to the 877 number. Yeah, I have to agree that it sounds very sketchy. I have not responded to them for that very reason.

From the background noise it sounds like a boiler room environment, possibly trying to get as much information as they can for a school of some sort. You know, the kind of school that has many degree offerings that are soooo worthless!
