The Statutes of Limitations regarding debt vary by state. Some have SOLs of as little as 3 years for unsecured debt. I live in one of them.

Yes they do... I spoke with the Michigan Attorney Generals office and they stated that there is in fact a statutes of limitation on past dept. THATS why most credit agencies only go back 7 years.

I will say the lady that called was very nice. She said that she looked at my credit report and could verify that this loan was taken out/ me. I told her that I don't remember taking this out, and would need something in writing. She then asked me for my address. Wait....you looked at my credit report, but you don't know my address????

Got a call from some "black" sounding girl that one of my accounts was breached. Wanted my info.
knew right away it was a scammer.  Companies do not call when there is a breach, they write a letter and mail it to you first. And already have all your info . Do not give any info to these people, just hang up !

OMG, I just had the same call!!  The person I spoke to said it had to do with Quick Payday Loan that I had in 2006 and that I was making payments through Wells Fargo Bank!!  I told her I don't know what you are talking about because my Wells Fargo Bank was closed in 2001 and that I did not live in the State of California in 2006.  I too gave them my email address so they can send me an email.  I told her why was I not notified about this alleged debt, after-all it has only been 8 years!!  She couldn't answer that.  She also told me what my last 4 of my ssn was and where I "use" to work and who I work for, she even made comments about what was on my credit report (I did not confirm the information with her-she must have thought I was that stupid!).  I ask her why did she call me on my cell phone and how did she get my cell phone number since it was changed 2 months ago, I also told her since she got ahold of my cell phone then can she verify my home address, etc.  SHE COULD NOT ANSWER THAT!!  So I told her I am not paying for a debt unless I see this in black and white and I want the full information of Quick Payday Loan (address & phone number), she told me she did not have Quick Payday Loan information so I told her "so how are you going to pay them????".  I told her "you all will be hearing from my attorney and that I will have a full investigation launched on there company".  Goodbye!!

I had the same thing a few minutes ago, they give you personal information and say they are collecting a debt and want you to pay this debt off.  The sad thing about it is I received nothing in the mail about the debt, I filed bankruptcy as well.  Needless to say, I ask her for information and she could not provide that to me, so I told her "I have a legal right to know (in black and white) what I am paying for.  She said she had limited information so I told her I was not going to pay on a debt that I am not aware of in writing.

Was called about a quick loan that was taken out and the money deposited in a Wells Fargo Bank and Wells Fargo saying money wasn't good.  This is  supposedly to have happened in 2006. Gave them my email so they could send me information to review. I had a phone call a year ago that also said I had taken out a quick loan but, it was for 2008 and they wanted me to pay restitution for which I said no way.  They then advised me that I would be served with papers.  I'm still waiting to be served.
I called all quick loan places within 100 miles and none had any record.  One places said it was a scam.

This company is going to be reported to the FTC because I am on the do not call directory. Additionally, if a company is ligit then they can send things through the US mail.  Tell them not to call anymore.

A man called and asked for me by first name. When I asked who he was, he responded "Stewart". I asked Stewart what company he was with and he asked if I was the person he was looking for. I asked again what company he is with. He stated SRG. I asked what kind of company is SRG and was hung up on.
I called the number back and the woman answered. I asked what the name of the company is, she responded SRG. I asked what does that mean, she said "That's the name of our company". I asked her what does SRG do, what kind of company is it. She said if I don't tell her who I am, she can't tell me. I told her I am reporting them to BBB and hung up.
Very unethical and rude, if it is an actual company.

My wife received a call about a debt that was over 10 years old and that she had paid off way back then, this person on the other end had our previous address, current address, name, cell numbers, some financial information and wanted my wifes routing and account number, she didn't give that up thankfully but she did verify our current address and gave her email to have the supposed bill sent to us. I called them back after my wife started asking me questions about it and telling me the conversation. When I called and asked what their business was and what they did, I got an immediate who am I talking to, and they continued to avoid the answer which got me mad hatter mad, they wanted to direct me, pull my account up, everything but what their business did and why they were calling over a 10+ year paid debt and asking for banking information. I had a whole lot of explisives for them and told them I was going to have my lawyer look into them etc... if they kept avoiding my question about who they were and what they did as a business and I got sir you don't have to use that type of language, avoided again and I hung up. Actually I am still mad as I type this and I'm thinking about calling them back and ripping them a new one again... I will be reporting this to the FTC asap and trying to get some type of Law Enforcement involved with this that is for sure...

She called me on my cell phone and told me I owed $600 to Chase.  I've never had a Chase Bank account and that it was from 2001 to 2003.  I lived in South America from 1999-2004 so I kindly let her know this and hung up.  It's a scam!
