They called me months ago telling me if I did not pay my debt, I was going to be served an brought to court. I was sooo scared I had no idea what was going on.. But they were really threating me.. So I fell into what I know now is a SCAM!! I've gave them over 400 dollars! Paying $75 every two weeks!! Enough is enough! I will not pay another cent to these F&$king people!!!! I don't know who they are BUT they are still calling me telling me I owe them money an in order to avoid "being served" I would have to pay them!! At this point they don't care how much I can give as long as I give them $$$.. I stated catching on when they were calling me from diff numbers an leaving voicemails with diff numbers.. I feel like a fool!!! How did I know!!?

No, it's not legitimate!  NEVER pay money to anyone unless they send you a debt validation letter showing original creditor, date of debt, how much is owed, last payment made, etc.  Demand they also mail you a copy of the original contract you signed with the original creditor, showing your signature.

They also have to be licensed to collect in your state.  If they refuse to MAIL you this legally required information, then tell them you're reporting them for violations of the FDCPA (look it up and read to learn your rights).  DO report them to the FTC and your state's Attorney General.

This is a scare tactic scammers use to frighten people into calling them back and setting up payment for debts that either bogus, already paid off, or outwith the statute of limitations for collection.  Never give money to anyone unless they mail you (not fax or email) proof that you owe the debt and that they are legally entitled to collect said debt.

Since they have violated the FDCPA by threatening you and leaving this message with your supervisor, I would report them to the FTC and your state's Attorney General.  I would also let them know that they've been reported and that you are recording all calls they make to you (even if you aren't).

And the biggest reason they are scammers - NO ONE gives a heads up that someone is going to be either served or arrested.  You can't "serve" someone via voicemail!  That's just ridiculous!

These people spoke with my minor child leaving a threating message scaring her in disbelief. I can't believe they would do that to a child. I do not want them calling my home anymore.

Looking at the dates on complaints, it looks like this scam has just started. What is everyone else doing about this? Is anyone reporting them to authorities?
