If you switched to AT&T, how could you log into Verizonwireless.com? You have to have a Verizon Wireless account to do that.

This is a scam.  I called Verizon Wireless directly via their 800 number on my billing statement and Verizon said they never called me.  I also got a call from 877-835-9539 claiming to be debt collector from Vantage Sourcing - also a scam as Verizon told me they never referred me to a debt collector.

Beware of these numbers and never give them any information.  Always call your service provider directly to confirm there are no issues with your account.  I was told by Verizon to register with the National Do Not Call list since these calls were clearly a scam.  These scammers should be ashamed of themselves.

After receiving a number of these calls, I finally answered the call.  It was from Verizon.     This was a "new" number and they were trying to reach the person who previously had the number.  I suspect it happens from time to time when you get a "new" number and whoever had the number before has some "issues" with Verizon.  They said  they would change their records to prevent further calls...

This is definitely Verizon collections. I called the number back that was on the call ID. Their computer calls me five times a day. Get this, I canceled the service on my two cellphone that I had for 7 years. I took three months for them to stop the service. In that time they kept billing me. Well I finally get the service turned off and get the credit for the three months. Then, a month later I get a bill for $325. They say it an early termination fee. WTF!! I have had the same service for eight years and the same phone for five years. I have no contract. I have phones that I paid for myself. This will probably take me another three months to correct.

I do not have nor have I ever had an account with Verizon.  I have a TRAC phone and have had this same phone number at least 10 years, yet I continue to get calls from Verizon.  Asking them to stop calling and using up my 'units' has not worked.  Very frustrating

I got a call from them. Only problem is, I don't have Verizon. I have AT&T. The message said it was an important phone call. I just figured it was Verizon trying to get me to switch. I called them back and told them I don't use them and have no clue why they have my number.
They apologized then called again 20 minutes later. :o/

They called me and left a message, saying my account was overdue. I don't even have a Verizon account. I told them my phone number, and she asked if I was James. Since I'm not, I told her no. She said she was going to have my number taken off of the list, and sorry for the inconvenience. No harm done, unless she calls again...

This is actually Verizon. I switched to AT&T and hadn't paid my Verizon Bill in full. Called back and paid it. Then logged into Verizonwireless.com and the payment I made on the phone WAS visible on the website. NOT a Scammer.

I have been receiving calls from this number and they are increasing in frequency.  I do not answer calls whose numbers I am not familiar with.  This is being reported to Verizon today.  Taking it a step further and going to block all 800 like numbers.  People need to get out,  find real legitimate jobs and stop taking innocent people for a ride.

Got several calls from this number claiming to be Verizon Wireless, with "an important message about my bill."
But when I called Verizon Wireless, they have no problems with my account and it's paid in full. They said it's a scammer.

Recorded message claiming to be Verizon Wireless and saying to call the number back to discuss "an urgent matter with your bill."  Recording will run whether you pick up the phone or it goes to voicemail.
I had Verizon block this number from ever calling me again.

Repeated calls from this number, claiming to be Verizon.
I called Verizon, and had them block the number from calling me anymore.
Since Verizon permitted me to block this number, it is obviously not Verizon calling.

Beware, the number is available to be used by anyone. 877 calls are usually phony. Someone is targeting you, trying to steal your account information or personal details. Watch out for anyone posting the opposite information about the number being genuine. They are most likely the crooks. You should ignore the call and just dial out your credit accounts to make sure they are safe.

Stay well

Got a call 8/04/10.  Recorded message claims to be Verizon calling for the person who had my phone number over 3 years ago.  Asked me to call them back because of an "important issue with my account."  Given that I have Verizon now, I assume that they know my current information and this is a scammer.

I was billed twice by mistake by verizon.  This collection company refuses to stop calling me.  I was also threatened to be referred to a collection agency if I did not pay the duplicate bill.  If they touch my credit I'll file a lawsuit because I'm sure I'm not the only one they're trying to shake down like this.  I asked for their company's name (they're a contracted collection vendor for Verizon) and was given Bandage Sourcing in Alabama (which was aganst company policy to give out as I was later told by a supervisor).  They would not give me an address to serve with legal docs.  Very shady to call people up and deny who you really are.

This is just a Verizon Collection agency, or maybe an outside one, though it sounds like one. I called them up I explained to the lady that by the end of the month I will pay Verizon. First thing out of her rude mouth "Could you pay it today?". Already she is angering me. "No miss, I just finished telling you that by the end of the month I'll pay the bill. ? Okay sir, but if you don't pay this, it might get referred to an outside collection agency". Now why did she say that for, and push my buttons? "Lady I don't know if you are getting a commission for this but I already told you that I'll pay by the end of the month. What part of the phrase you don't understand, tell me and I'll explain it in detail. Why do you want me to pay it today when I already told you I don't have money and you go and threaten me with a collection agency.... grow up."

I have been receiving these recorded messages for a couple of weeks now and finally decided to call them back a few minutes ago.   I dont not have a verizon wireless account but I do have verizon for my tv.  I spoke to the woman, she asked what phone number they were calling and she gave me the name of the person they were trying to reach. I told here there wasnt anyone here by that name and she said that my number will be removed with in 24 hours.  I hope this is the case. They did not ask for any personal info apart form the phone number.  Everything did seem legit.

It is Verizon Wireless. I received a few messages and returned the call and went directly to Verizon Wireless. An ex employee had listed my number and they were trying to reach him.
It's legit...but don't ever give out information without confirming.
ALWAYS get an identification number from the employee, if they wont give you one, then refuse to give information.

A little suspicious, but they had enough information to convince me they really were Verizon.  In this case, they deal with leftover charges on closed accounts.  They may do more, but that's how I got to them.

Honestly, Verizon needs to streamline their billing and customer service departments (probably leftover issues with the Alltel merger), but that's another issue.  This really is Verizon.

I hope.

I just got off the phone with a woman after dialing this number and It is a part of Verizon.  I called Verizon first because I wanted to pay only a part of my bill.  They gave me this number because I wanted to split the payment in 2.  When I called they gave me a lesser amount of what was owed, only if I payed it within 2 weeks, they also said that it would not show up on my credit report as a settlement??? mmmm This last part made me a little suspicious!
