What is a person of interest?  Makes them sound like they are investigating a crime.  Are they cops?  Don't cops say that? "You're not a suspect, just a person of interest."  Cops have never called me.  When they want to talk to you, they knock on your door and show you their badge.

Debt Collector
My husband recieved a mssg from a James Miller in regards to a "case" they just recieved about a week ago. He mentioned in the voice mail that they have sent a notice to the HR dept of my husbands place of employment and also to our residence. Not in any moment did he specifically mention my husbands name or what this "case" is about. I called the number in the mssg. 877-630-7383 and the caller was unavailable. I searched the phone number online and found this page with very similar calls. The mssg didn't sound convincing to begin with and after reading everyones comments, it only confirms my thoughts of not paying any attention to this matter.

Why are these people harrasing us? If we are a person of interest why don't you say our name when leaving a message.

Telemarketer
I just looked up the original number (855-215-4137) and it shows that the 855 area code is connected to dozens of telemarketers. This is just one more reason I believe that all of this is very possibly a huge scam. I know shortly after I started a new job just over a yr and a half ago I got a call from someone claiming to be collecting a debt and threatening me with law enforcement coming to my new job. I talked to someone claiming to be someone I do not believe he was. When I went back (after paying) and listened to my saved voice mails I foolishly realized the man who claimed to be from the courts was the same voice that was claiming to be another person from the company.
I cannot say if this is or is not a scam for sure but I do know I am going to be a lot more skeptical this time. I am going to take the advice of asking for written proof if I do speak with someone but, I do not plan on answering these calls or calling them back.

I got a voice mail today from 855-215-4137 saying they need to speak to me about some papers they got naming me as a person of interest. They want me to call 877-630-7383. They never refered to me or anyone else by name in the voice mail and the whole thing makes me wonder what is going on. I did try to call the number but got a message saying the person at ext # was unavailable.

Debt Collector
They are scammers.  They called regarding "my pending court hearing on February 20th".   They have not told me where the hearing is taking place and I have not been served with any summons.  They want my "final statement" before the hearing.  Legit lawyers would not  conduct business this way.

These clowns made a huge mistake when they called a lawyer at the U.S. Department of Justice and threatened him with jail and having papers served to his employer.  He has recently started a federal investigation.  Take good notes and record any messages they leave because they may help shut this company down and sent some  people to prison for  fraud .

If you want a good laugh, go to the M &K and Associates website.  They are debt collectors who promise their clients to treat their customers with the utmost respect and no threats. I'm sure the Justice Department will be able to use their lies against them.

I received a call from this number stating that I owed a debt for a payday loan from almost two years ago that I NEVER got. They threatened to have me thrown in jail. I am a victim of identity theft so my first reaction was to pay them, but my gut said otherwise. I looked up the phone number and was directed here. After reading I decided to contact my lawyer and try to gather more information. The lady I spoke to said her name was Veronica. She gave me the address of 655 Testings Park Road, Leesburg, VA 20176. The closest address to that that I could find on Google Earth was 655, Testing Road, Hindmotor, Konnagar, West Bengal, India. That obviously isn't in the US. I had my lawyer call and they gave him a P.O. Box 931, Hamburg, NY 14075. I looked it up and came up with another number related to this "Miller and Clark" (855) 218-2360. That look up also states these guys are scammers. They called the Ft. Knox 911 Emergeny call center making the same claims that they did with me. My lawyer is sending an official letter requesting validation of debt, but he said he would bet the farm these guys are complete BS. Just a heads up.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I also received a call from this #. After this call I talked with an attorney. He advised me to ignore these people, with Ms. Dennally included and if anyone can get us an address from  these fraudulent people, WE WILL BRING A LAW SUIT AGAINST THEM! Because what they are doing is illegal.
