This phone number is for ordering Comcast's digital adapters, and they are probably calling you to remind you that you will lose your ability to receive their digital signal, and therefore not be able to watch your TV, if you don't order some digital adapters. You can order three of them free of charge, so it probably won't cost most people anything at all.
The phone number is listed on their website at:
https://digitalnow.comcast.com/About_Digital_Update.aspx
It's on the right side of the page under 'Need Help?'.
It shows two numbers:
To Order: 1.877.634.4434
To Activate: 1.888.634.4434

The whole digital cable expansion thing. I hope this is the only call I get from them.

This company called 2 times in a row. I told them we are on a do not call list. Caller was speechless. Unfortunately they called again after I'd left work.

The number belongs to Comcast Cable. It's an automated message stating that they're switching to digital service and that you need to upgrade to a digital cable box if you don't already have one. I get about four calls from them a week reminding me of it.

Finally, an intelligent post!
The swap-over to all-digital should cut down on signal theft.
I used to sell cable service and you wouldn't believe how much theft of services goes on.

Every cable company has a monopoly. Always have. DirectTV and Dish are not cable companies. Neither are the phone companies.

Got this call-no name so I did not answer, left no message. If it is Comcast, I will do like they do...wait two months before returning calls!

Besides having calls from comcast, i called them to have my number removed from the unpublished/published list so i don't get crazy calls from all these 800 numbers. It's bad enough i get them on my cell.
cal 2012-02-06 23:11:04 Unknown
Not true. I have talked to them once a week for about 2 months now. I have have told them over and over I have what I need. They just keep calling.

Furry Desk,
Aren't you the lucky one! Here in Vermont Comcast has a cable monopoly. Did you have to go to satellite service or is there some actual competition with another cable service for you? For the 2nd time, I find my favorite channel being held hostage to get me to buy a new service- this time High Def. Last time I had to buy into an extra block of channels. I hate these scab bast3rds already.

Every morning at 8AM on the dot this number calls me on my cell phone. Since I don't get to bed before 3AM due to my job, being called by this number isn't just ruining my sleep, it is getting to the point of stalking! The call is on my cell phone which I am now turning off when I get home just to get some sleep. Whenever I answer this call, I get an automated call from Comcast! I have tried staying online waiting to talk to a human so I can tell them to stop calling me and it takes forever to get in touch with a person.
I already use Comcast for my internet and I have told them time and time again that I do not watch Television. The person at Comcast won't let it go, she keeps asking me if I am using another company for my cable and I nearly screamed at her, I DO NOT WATCH TV! She just couldn't wrap her head around it. I had to interrupt her reading of the "great bundling packages" again to tell her I did not need cable because I do not have TV set. I think I heard her jaw hit the floor.
Finally I told her to stop the office from auto-dialing me every morning because I work the late shift at a hospital and cannot be continually woke up.
She told me she would tell her supervisor, but the very next morning at 8AM the phone started to ring. Tomorrow morning, I am going to their office here in Charleston and talk to someone face to face. This must STOP!
JB 2011-09-14 22:09:55 Unknown
Wrong! I talked to them 3 or 4 months ago, told them I wasn't interested and to stop calling. They did - until they started calling again a week ago, daily at least. A$$holes!
Eddie 2011-09-14 19:29:43 Event Reminder
Those who say they will stop calling if you talk to them and ask them to stop are mistaken. I have talked to them (when there was anyone to talk to) on multiple occasions and ascertained that I already have the necessary equipment. I have asked them (on multiple occasions, spanning a couple of months) to STOP HARASSING me.
I still receive calls, some with recorded messages about the digital upgrade, some with a person to explain about the digital upgrade for my area.
The upgrade was overnight last night. I was hoping that it might finally be over. But no, I got a recorded message today reminding me that the upgrade just happened and that I might need new digital boxes!
If I had any other cable service for this area, Comcast would be toast.
I'll probably get another call tomorrow reminding me that the upgrade recently occured. Can't they even record the fact that they've ALREADY CALLED YOU about this and you don't need multiple calls? Especially multiple calls on the SAME DAY!

I just received a recorded message from someone identifying herself as Mary calling from Comcast. She said that Comcast will be going to an all digital channel platform in my area of the city in one week. She said that this requires digital equipment and that they show that I have one connection to a digital cable box but will need digital adapters for other connections in my home.
Well - guess what?! I only have the one connection to a digital cable box because I only have one TV connected to Comcast. So I don't need a digital adapter or any other equipment.
My housemate has DirecTV on her two TV sets, but she used to have Comcast. I don't know if Comcast is counting the connections she used to have and including them on my account for the purposes of and to have a reason to bug me about getting these new digital adapters or equipment. Regardless, I wish they would quit bothering me about this - I'm good to go when they do kick the upgrade active.
I'm also tired of them sending me advertising via postal mail and e-mail trying to pester me into subscribing to their home phone service. I'm cellular only and don't need my own home phone - if I need to use a landline here at home, I can use my housemate's phone. It's not very often that I do use hers and I've lived here over 2 years. I've told Comcast this on numerous occasions and they won't stop sending me this junk advertising mail and the e-mails trying to persuade me into getting home phone service.
