I am in Texas. My wife and I both just received the following text message on our cell phones on the Sprint network: From:1234 Sent:Nov19 8:01 PM Msg: Card Service Alert: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 877-691-3053 to REACTIVATE your CARD. I called the number and got a robotic message: "Thank you for calling the credit union center 24 hours card services. To activate your card press one. To change your personal identification number press 2. To end this call press the pound sign." I pressed 1 and entered the card number 1234-5678-9012-3456 and it hung up on me. Clearly a scam to get someone to punch in real credit card numbers

My husband and I got the same text within minutes of each other on the Sprint network and it said "Credit Union Alert: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED.Please contact us at 877-691-3053 to REACTIVATE your CARD." To my knowledge, my bank doesn't even have my cell number. The text concerned me at first, but I don't believe the bank would actually text me if my card were deactivated. And I also don't believe my husband and I, with separate banks, would have our cards deactivated at the same time. I did't respond because I was concerned about some I.D. theft scam or the like, and from reading another's post, it seems that at least credit card theft is the goal.

I am a police officer in Oregon. I just took a fraud report regarding this number. Definately a scam.

I have Sprint as well and I just got this exact same text too. In fact, I got one ~10 minutes later except the number to call was a local Oregon (541-663-4236). Don't ever reply to something like this since it lets spamers know that your number is valid. I forwarded the text to Sprint's abuse address for investigation.
