They may be legitimate, but they call me both at home and work.  I know they have a job to do, but it is not okay to call me at my job.  

Scam. The 'debt' they tried to collect was not real. I said, "this sounds unlikely, I still have an account with so and so, I will discuss it with them" then they hung up on me.

They just keep calling, and won't give up. If they are professionals why don't they say who they are when they call the first time? Most professional agents would.

this number has called once a week for the past two months and does not leave a message. Ido not accept calls from unrecognized numbers as typically these are sales calls/scams. If these people have a legitimate reason to call continuously they need to leave a detailed message or mail a damn letter!!!

The problem with them calling is that according to the FTC debt collectors are required to send you a verification letter stating the debt you owe (from who, when, & the amount owed) and informing you that you now need to pay them as they now owe your outstanding debt...

They called me and left a message, I don't have any bills in collections, I pay mine every month.

Got a new phone and immediately started getting calls from this number.

This is not a legitimate debt collection agency.  It's a scam.  They called my unlisted cell phone claiming to be looking to collect from a woman I've never met.

They call 4 to 5 times a day even after pressing 2. They out of control.

The only problem is that everytime they contact you and you speak to them the debt is reactivated and the statute of limitations begins again.

Sorry for disappointing those folks who think this number is bogus...it is in fact, a real collections agency. The name of the company is State Collections Services Inc. located in Madison Wisconsin. I know they are legit because i recently end up being hospitalized on two occasions and the result was medical bills totalling over $24,000 and there was NO WAY i can pay them.off in the alotted time...and i have premium insurance! I ended up applying for Charity Care and was approved and forgiven of the debts. However, because the automated billing systems hospitals use arent exactly timed up with past due collections cycling, the debts were already sold to SCS Inc. Though patient financial services assured me that i owe nothing and that they have recalled all of the debts back from collections, the a$$holes at SCS Inc wont update thier info on file and thier douchbag employees keep harassing me and leaving real voicemails now, whereas before, it would be a s****y automated recording from "Tom", "John" or "Jenny" followed by a brief, uninformative message. Even though they are legitimate debt collectors, the are also genuine a$$holes.

They seem to be somewhat professional however asking me why they called when they called me and then laughing is not professional.  UW physicians for me also.

I did the same thing. Waited through the hold time. Even though it told me I had a 15min wait, someone answered within two mins. I found out about a bill I missed paying. Kinda upset I had to pay but dealt with some very nice people. Asked why I had to jump through so many hoops to figure out who they were and the lady I spoke with explained it is to protect my privacy. She even gave me their website : http://www.statecollectionservice.com , said if I didn't fell comfortable paying over the phone, I could check out their website and make a payment that way. I would recommend just giving them a chance and listen to what they have to say.

this is a legitimate debt collecting state company, just wait through the hold time they are very understanding and nice phone people when you get through. i was only on hold for a couple minutes and dealt with a very nice woman who stated exactly what i forgot to pay and what company it was for. they are not stating who they are working for so they can keep their clients confidentiality, just call back and get through to them!

This is a legit collection agency. They have been calling to resolve outstanding payments I have with UW Physicians. They are generally okay to work with and will put holds on the collections calls as long as you check in with them periodically about your financial situation. As far as collection agencies go, these agents seemed a lot more professional and courteous than others.

That should have read and NOT be on hold for 15 min.

I did the same thing; pressed 1, pressed 1 to confirm and then got the "your hold time is 15 min" - do they really expect people to wait over 3 min for a call they know nothing about???  They are losing money from everyone who refuses to hold and possibly would like to clear up an old bill if necessary.  Rediculous!  Not a way to run a business, that's for sure.  They should at least allow you to leave a message so you can give them a time to call you back and be on hold for 15 minutes.

Got a message from this number 877-692-8196 State Collection Services. A private message for me only, (right). Sounded like crap to me, but called the number, got put on hold, then a message saying no one available, I left a message, "when you tell me who you are, maybe I could help you? Waiting for an answer...

They claim to be a debt collection service, but offer little information unless you tell them who you are and what number you are calling from, or where they left a voice mail. I have no debt, so I assume this is a scam or a mistaken number. Either way, I am not interested in wasting my time.

Getting repeated calls from this number. They tell me that --- needs to call  Jason at 877-765-7021. I called the number and said this number was on a do not call list and I would report them if they kept calling because person they asked for is not here.

I got a call today from 877 - 692 - 8196, they said if you are Jesse xxx press 1, if not press 2.  I pressed 1. Than they said please verify that you are indeed Jesse xxx by pressing 1, or 2 if it is not you. I pressed 1 again!
Then the stupid machine said: your call is very important to us, Please hold. Your waiting time is...15mins!  I hung the phone. WTF is wrong with these idiots calling an unlisted number, and asking me to WAIT 15 Mins!

The caller called my employer asking for my boss. They sais it is a personal business matter, but wouldn't say anything else. The caller said her name was Jenny Todd.

vultures trying to collect on purported debt from 1999. Way past statute of limitations - never leave message.  Just tying to intimidate people to pay - told them go and sue me or otherwise go eff themselves.
