Will Not Be Scammed 2012-08-17 21:59:06 Unknown
I previously posted on one of the "directories" re ERS Group and would like to post it here as well so that the general public can be educated about this scam. I was bombarded by calls from ERS asking to talk to my mother. At first I was concerned that it was in reference to my student loans as I recently settled a student loan debt for less than the full amount and I was afraid that they were coming after me for the rest. So, I called them and explained that they had been calling my number but they were leaving messages for my Mom, and wanted to know what this was all about. Of course, they would not reveal anything without my Mom's permission, so I did a three-way call with Mom and the so-called ERS collectors advised my Mom that she has an outstanding bill with a hospital when she was seen there in a summer of 2009 (it's August 2012 right now). Well, for some reason they had Mom's old address where she had not lived since 2004 and at first we thought that it was our oversight and the bill was in fact sent to the old address and never forwarded to her new address. Then the ERS person said, well, are you going to pay the bill or not? I told her that we needed to see the bill first, confirm with the hospital and Mom's insurance that the bill was not paid, and only then will we pay. At first she said, OK, I will give you two weeks to investigate, and then we can settle. I said, sounds great, I will call you as soon as we find out the details. She then said, oh, no, no, no, I need your credit card or debit card number NOW to put the hold on the amount owed, but we won't take any money out until two weeks from now. That made me pause for a moment. She wanted my debit/credit card number BEFORE I even saw the bill with the amounts owed! I firmly said, NO. After trying to persuade me that it is in my Mom's best interest to pay now, she gave in and said, OK, I will e-mail you the bill. Well, the e-mail came in with the following message: "please cl me when you get this letter." It was quite unprofessional. Also, no bill was attached to the e-mail. I attempted to call with no luck at reaching anyone. Then I wrote them back stating that I need them to send me the bill, and that after a brief investigation we will be happy to pay what was owed. I also summarized the content of our phone conversation, and advised them that should they fail to respond and send me that bill, and my Mom's account affects her credit score (as they advised me it did not affect her score YET), I would file a civil suit in a local district court. I also advised that I will seek punitive, treble damages for any damage they cause by their actions. I also advised that the e-mail that I was sending to her will serve as proof of our lack of knowledge of that bill and their lack of cooperation in sending us pertinent information to settle the account in full. Well, there have been NO response since. The phone calls stopped as well. This is a scam. It is NOT a collections agency that they claim to be. There is an ERS Group (Everest Receivables Group), but I think that the "collectors" that called me were not even from that group! The numbers that they used to call me were (888) 397-5002 and (480) 696-7447 (which is a local to me number).

what is the statute of limitations? I'm not quite sure what this group is calling about, but was intrigued by your post. Thanks.
Lydia 2012-07-31 19:54:12 Unknown
My call keeps coming from 888-397-5002, though the woman says she is calling from the ERS Group. She keeps calling my work number, and the message left is that she needs to verify an address in order to send out a legal notice, but she will not disclose what the notice is in reference to. These calls at my office should stop.

818 660-1955. Said they were going to send me legal notification. I hung up. Anything defaulted has been covered by the Statute of Limitations and collection actions after it has expired are illegal (and actionable). SoL: for them, yeah. I know my rights.

Mr. Bryant tried to leave a message for someone and then told me to shut up twice. He said he would harrass me everyday and that by law he could do so. However, Alaska has laws against this type of harrassment. Don't even know what this is regards to. Very rude for someone trying to get something (or asking for a favor).
good-neighbor 2011-06-06 21:04:44 Unknown
They call and left a message. I called them back and they said there was a collection for the person living in the house in front of me, so they were calling neighbors to see who could deliver the message for them as they were not taking their calls. Can you believe that one?
chapped 2011-06-06 21:04:44 Unknown
they called left message for my son who has nor been in this state for over 10 years.... so I know it is not a pressing financial problem .... have checked on this number before they buy old bills that have been written off and try to collect on them..... will say anything to up-set you.... very rude...
ron 2011-06-06 21:04:44 Unknown
said they were from the IRS.
TERRIFIED OF COLLECTORS 2011-06-06 21:04:44 Unknown
Actually these people were very kind to me and helped me with an old debt. They let me pay $300 instead of $565.00 and cleared that account on my credit report. If you are sincere, they will be helpful.

A Mr. Gleese calls and asks for someone thats not here, and when I said that he says "Do you know anything". Then when I asked if he was going to be ignorant or leave a message he says "I don't know can you take a message". Like a pure smart-a**. Rude,Rude,Rude! Also said he was from ERS and his ext. was 2167.

My parents got a call from these Monsters. They insulted my father and called him an irresponsible and bad parent. Their website says something about integrity or some s*** but its just a bunch of the typical tactics they use to get whatever money out of you they can. I actually find it sad. I cant believe these people get any sleep at night. I can revel in the fact that if there is a Hell these people will surely burn in it. They DO have every right to call relatives and friends but as soon as they tell them not to call again they aren't supposed to and can be fined if they do. TO ANYONE OUT THERE WHO IS SCARED OF THESE PEOPLE...DON'T BE! all they can do is threaten. At the very worst they could sue you....and then what... you owe them the money that you already owe them? In the words of The Comedian, "It's a game, it's all a game"

If you would like results try calling one of the owners of the company samuel tornatore or jeffrey bassett although be prepared for the call to be forwarded to the operations manager sandra ?????? she is there to screen all calls and prohibit the owners from taking your call try at least now you have some names (real names) behind the people making the calls
Smart 2010-06-09 22:17:12 Unknown
Your an idiot. These people are extremely threatening to the point of actually scaring people. They have threatened to hurt people and everything. If you think that's a great way to get money out of people and make good money then you are an idiot.
You have to know... 2010-02-16 02:36:22 Unknown
They cannot tell you the nature of the call as they are bound by federal privacy guidelines. Collection agencies ARE well within their rights to try and reach you through 3rd parties, including relatives, if they don't have a valid # to reach you or if the # they have on file hasn't been validated. I understand there are ALOT of bad collectors out there but alot of these "incidents" seem to be one sided and could in fact be falsified trying to make the agencies look as bad as possible and the "victims" look as innocent as possible. One person said that collectors have 6th grade educations. Of course this is a stereotype. Believe it or not, collecting on defaulted student loans give collectors the opportunity to make more than most college graduates! I have worked with collectors who make anywhere from 80k to 200k a year! Not bad for a 6th grade education right? The best way to reach people that owe money is to talk to them how you yourself would like to be spoken with. Trust me though, there are alot of rude people in the world and it's not always the collector. It's the person that answers the phone. Some people are actually offended that you have called them about a debt that THEY ran up and ignored! People are just amazing to me.

These people are attempting to collect a debt. Their website says they represent the integrity of their customers. Too funny. They are rude, uneducated and unable to communicate with the debtors. Do not pay them!! I refuse to reward a company that harrasses, accosts, belittles and badgers.

Called my house asking for a friend I hadn't talked for several years. I asked them who they were and all they would tell me is that they ERS. When I asked them what they did ,they were very vague as to what they did. All they would say was that they were working for a client and wouldn't tell me who they were. I asked them how they got my number and how they found out that I was friends with this person and they wanted to hang up. I kept asking and they finally hung up on me.

calling for my son 2007-12-05 00:28:27 Unknown
They can not even pronounce the last name. They have called a couple of times looking for my son. He is at school and I sent him the message. A Mr. Bryant just called and told me to shut up twice when I question who they were and if they had mailed anything. He got mad when I caught him in a lie and he started yelling at me and saying that he would harrass me everyday for the next few weeks. Strange way of acting, when you are trying to get someone to help you. I don't believe this is a valid claim to begin with.

all iliegal!!!!! but when did that stop them? they are all criminals. Calling your neighbors is against the law
calling your friends is ilegal. Making threats of any kind is ilegal. But you have to look at who they hire to do this. most have less than a 6th grade education and on parole or probation Maybe one day the will be rehabilitated and obtain an education. Criminals big time.
Lori 2007-09-27 00:36:28 Unknown
They just called me, but since I didn't recognize the number, I did not answer. They did not leave a message.
