I want Guessology Prize to stop texting me and charging my cell phone for $9.95 a month. I did not orders from them. I was doing a survey I thought. I do not want what ever service they offer. They have texted me under another name last month too.

a friend posted a link to CostCo give-away  /free gift cads. A survey opened up. I never give out my cell number, but trusted the person who posted on FaceBook. I was billed $9.99 to my phone after I entered the text-ed pin. This is a scam, stay away from it, it looks legit, I've never been interested in horoscopes, if you enter the pin you'll be billed from Myhoroscopeonline and the number below

Was charged 9.99 on my US Cellular phone bill for 18777071771 subscription service.  I called US Cellular and they were wonderful  about explaining this to be someone called Mobile Messaging Premium Service and if you answer "stop" or acknowledge the text in any way,  there is fine print at the bottom of the text giving them the authorization to charge your phone bill.  US Celullar was extremely nice and cooperative and offered not only to refund the 9.99 charge but they also put a block on this number so that they could not call or text my phone number again.  I appreciate and am grateful for my phone carrier US Cellular for resolving this so fast.   I noticed it on the my bill on a Sunday night and US Cellular took care of it immediately and on Monday I will be calling this 877-phone number to give them a piece of my anger towards what they are doing.

I just called Mobile Media Services regarding a charge for $9.99 that I accidentally (and luckily) found on my cell bill. I called my service provider first and explained that I had not signed up for anything and that I should not have been charged. They put my number on a block list for that number so that if they tried to charge me again, it wouldn't happen. I then called the MMS number and talked to someone explaining that I did not sign up for the service, that I wanted a refund, and that I was not sure how someone got my number. He explained that there was a three step verification process - you enter your cell number, they send you back a pin and then you have to re-enter the pin. I never did this and no one else has access to my phone. He said that it was for some horoscope thing - I've never looked at a horoscope in my life, so I know I wouldn't have signed up for it. So if I didn't verify the process, then I shouldn't be charged. He said this crap that apparently someone did - it was company policy that if it was verified, I would be charged - no refunds. I asked to speak to a supervisor - no one was available, so he came back on. I then asked him about a 30-day policy - which you cannot find anywhere on their website, by the way! I luckily had called within the 30 days, so he then agreed to refund me.

So after arguing with him for 10 min., as soon as I mentioned the 30-day policy, he said that he could issue the refund. Because I had not mentioned it earlier, he said he couldn't issue one...so if they refuse and you're within that window - mention it. Save yourself a lot of stress and arguing!

Also, tell the MMS company to put your number on a block list. Then you have it blocked from both sides.

Hope this helps!

Prank Call
I had a similar scam several years ago involving Premier Message Service. Without signing up for anything, I started receiving text messages from them telling my subscription had been renewed, but I had never even heard of them before. When I got my cell phone bill from Verizon, I found that everytime I opened one of their text messages, it cost me $9.99.  Verizon claimed that they could not do anything about the charge since it was third party billing and they were including it as a courtesy.  I asked the Verizon customer service representative to make a note on my account that I would pay all of my cell phone bill, but would not pay this charge.  It was amazing how fast the charges disappeared after I had been at it with Verizon for 3 months when I told them I was going to stop paying it.

This is much simpler than trying to get a refund. Since it is third party billing, your cell phone carrier can't refund any money since payments do not go to them. Scam artists such as this typically don't do refunds if you're lucky enough to actually be able to speak to a live perosn.

Pay attention to your bill, and deduct this scam charge from it.  Your cell phone company can't disconnect your cell phone service for non-payment of third party billing, and it should say so on your bill somewhere.  Non-payment for the scammers "services" is also the best way to stop the texting to your cell phone. Until it stops, delete without opening.

Above commenters are right to be wary.  With most scams, replying with a "stop" message only tells them it's a valid number in which case they keep on with the spam texts, and will likely sell your number to other companies.

Here's some further information for anyone interested:

This number is for the same company that also spams with the # 877-707-1775. The company name is: Mobile Media Solutions, and I found their website here:

http://www.mobile-media-solutions.com/index.html

Their fax # (according to what their customer service rep told me) is: 877-707-0110

Their e-mail address is: help@mobile-media-solutions.com

I think I was signed up for 3 of their scams... partially our fault, but I'd say mostly due to false advertising. I called their 877-707-1775 and spoke with a representative the day after signing up and here's some things you might want to know:
According to their customer service representative and also according to their "terms and conditions" which nobody reads, they offer a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee. So if you catch that you've been hit with this scam within 30 days you can call and demand a refund for any charges according to their money back guarantee policy.

When I called they told me I had to fax my phone bill. Well, I don't know about anyone else, but my phone bill doesn't arrive until a good 60 days or so after a phone call/text. (The billing period doesn't close until the end of a month, and then it takes them a month to get me the bill.) So I told them that, and the customer service representative was all confused and actually almost didn't believe me when I told him the bill takes that long to get into my hands. So I asked to talk to a supervisor. (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ASKING TO TALK TO A SUPERVISOR.)

He put me on hold for just a couple of minutes, and then the same customer service representative came back and said that I can still receive the refund, even though the bill comes in 60 days later, since I had called in within the 30 days. He took down the name of whom to address the check to and the address to where it needs to be mailed, and said that when I do receive my bill, to fax it in to his attention, etc. etc., and he already has my information logged.

Hopefully this works out. I'll try to report back when it gets resolved to let you know how it goes.

One more little detail I learned: For me the scam was, you get texted a pin and then when you enter the pin # at an online site they sign you up for a $9.99 per month fee that gets charged to your phone. So, every time you enter the pin online, you get an additional charge. (So if you enter three pin numbers, you will be charged $29.97 per month.) And, on top of that, when you call in, they say they can cancel the account, but they "can't see" in their system whether I entered the pin # online, and how much money I will be billed---so according to them, it looked like I was charged $0.00. Don't let this fool you. Ask for a refund anyway, and tell them you may have entered the pin number, and you will send in your phone bill when you get it, etc. etc.

This is why you still get charged the initial fee when you cancel the subscription. (The subscription and the initial/monthly fee are two different things and supposedly are in two different systems.) Don't let this happen to you. Call and ask specifically for the refund when you call to cancel.

Now, YOU personally may not have signed up for anything, or entered your pin anywhere, but from what I've heard I guess some people have been entering other people's phone numbers onto this scam's websites. So.... somebody else may have signed you up. By using your number.

Now, I haven't tried going through my phone service provider (TMobile), as so many people have suggested to me, but that's probably also a very, very good idea. If this doesn't get resolved I will probably give them a try.

Hope this further info helps someone! Thanks!

I got 3 texts from them last night.  I finally took the chance and replied STOP.  I immediately got one back that said "Amazing facts Alerts. You are not subscribed to any services and will no longer receive any msgs or charges.  For more info call 1-877-707-1775"  and the messages have stopped so far.

I'm gonna pay close attention to my bill when it comes.  Hopefully my reply doesn't tell them it's a real number and they start selling it.  We'll see.
