I just got a call from a Michael too and asking a ticket for his son from Montréal to Frankfurt for tomorrow night Friday.  Very strange.  Could hardly hear him.  Thanks for sharing the info. Same phone no.

YES I got a call from 877 754 1740 he said his name was michael (Nigerian accent) I didnt get far with him before he hung up on me. if you ask the right questions they figure out your not going to issue a ticket for them with out them coming into the office with the credit card and ID.

In our agency we dont do it unless you are a regular customer or in our data base as purchasing legit travel
in the past. There are to many scammers out there. its a dead give away when someone that never bought anything from you and they want to by a ticket between city pairs that dont originate in you home city expecially if they are buying it for someone else. If you know the red flags you will not get burned.

This Just In: I found it funny when I typed in the number on google and the same thing occurred to me. I'm a travel agent in Toronto and a gentlemen called wanting a ticket from Toronto to NYC. Left me with the 877 area code with the name "Michael". I decided to do some research on the net in regards to his strange 877 number and this is what I came to! Down with these scammers! This 'gentleman' tried to pass himself off as a travel agent with us - he tried being Rhonda one day, and Patty another....obviously does not know the difference between male and female names in North America - another clue you are not dealing with a legtimate customer or travel agent?

Surely that report should be for the Police to deal with?

Scammer using this tel # (probably VOIP) is calling travel agencies to purchase tickets with compromised credit cards.

Mr Morgan Thillot called me for a last minute airline ticket from San Diego to Peoria. Had a heavy
African accent. When I questioned if he was referred by a current customer, he said his ex-wife
Monica Clark used our agency before. I do not know this person. I told him I would call him back,
and after looking up information on this number, I know this is a scam. Needless to say, I will not
be calling him back.

Caller stated his name was Ewan Julius Ewongkem. He wanted to depart Houston for Douala, Cameroon. He gave a callback number of 877-754-1740, which I cannot get through to. He sent a copy of a passport and a copy of the credit card. The face did not match the accent on the phone. I asked for a DL with the billing address and he never got back with me.

Caller will send you a copy of credit card, looks like legit....but the back copy has no information of the bank's phone number.  Request for a copy of the ID or DL and caller will never get back to you...or tell the caller to come over to your office if they are in town....and will automatically shoo away.

I received a call too from Mr. Michael Kofie.  At first he wanted to go to Chicago to Montreal .  Then he changed to Chicago to Toronto.   He gave this phone number and he said he is calling from Chicago. With the 877 area code....sounds really suspicious.  When I called the number, it sounded weird to me that you have to leave your name then you will be directed to him.  Since I felt suspicious already the moment he booked his flight,  I asked him to send me a copy of his credit card and drivers license as part of our protocol.  He told me he will email it to me.....never did!

He gave me his name as " Larry Awad" and the number and I questioned him. I said, "but this is a toll free number and you are calling from MIA". He answered "yes".

I too just received a call and became suspicious.  I am a travel agent in FLL and he said he's from MIA and wants to fly to DCA.  I told him I'll call him back. Guess what? He'll wait forever. I googled the name and phone number cause he sounded like a terrorist, whatever a terrorist sounds like.

Yes I'am a travel agent in Victoria BC. I have recieved this call from "Larry" asking for his wife and 2 children from Paris to Montreal to Vancouver return. Last minute of course.

Individual using the name of 'Larry Patterson' is using this number on his email signature.  He's scamming travel agencies to purchase airline tickets for various people with different names to different parts of the country.  This individual is calling on 347-298-2028 phone number (the list is long on that search).
