I've been getting these for a while now, I don't understand, but this recent one was for on behalf of ICBC, I don't even drive... what the frak... BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH anyways... I've threatened them with legal action that stopped for a while. May have to do it again.

They have been calling me repeatedly.  They say they are from ARO and that they need to verify my identity.  They asked me for my full name, birth date and address.  I told them I would not give out any of that information over the phone.  And really, if it was a creditor, they would already have that information.  They call me at least twice a week.  I have no debt that they can be referring to and when I asked about it, they stated that they were not at liberty to tell me.  What BS.  In my younger days, I have had creditors phone me and they are never shy about saying what it is about.  This is a scam.  Do not give these people any information.  Any ideas as to how I can make them stop calling????

Lady telling her name is Cindy Valentine, and asking to call back referring to a deposition and documents. I never call back it sound like a Scam!

Follow the steps in what you need to know. A legitimate debt collector agency should not have a problem with giving you a real business name and address you can google and verify via google street view, BBB etc.

Based on the above comments referring to these people collecting on behalf of ICBC, it appears ICBC has sourced out a different collections agency. I had a different company on my a** for a ticket I allegedly received more than 5 years ago (NCO Financial I believe). They demanded money right away without stating who they were or what they were collecting for. When I asked for proof of the allegations against me, she rudely responded with "that's not my job"... You expect me to give you personal information over the phone and pay for something I have no clue about. As for this new company (ARO), I have yet to answer a call from them but they call me three times a day, every day.

Depending on how often these people call you, there is a legal document you can fill out and send to the company. The form states to not be contact by them via telephone (if they are pushing the grounds of harassment). I sent this to the last company and all communication stopped completely. Looks like I might have to send one to ARO now. Oy *Sighs*

Got a call from this number the other day. Came up on Caller ID as follows:

After repeated calls from this number, I did speak to a representative... who was with ARO Inc. He claimed to be collecting on behalf of ICBC for a debt that I had no idea I had. Rather than deal with ARO (who never know any details) I contacted ICBC and sure enough I did owe some money due to points accrued with two traffic violations 3 years before. So... ARO Inc.: legit collection agency who does do things by the book with the information that they have. That doesn't mean you have to deal with them if you go right to the source of the debt.

Recv a message claiming they were going to send someone out to my employer right now to serve me with papers if I did not call back... One of my friends is a detective for the NYPD and he called back for me and when he began to question them...the hung up. He said this is an illegal tactic to scam money. People may have things out there financially owed but it's never collected this way.

Matt...you're a liar and you clearly work for the scammers... It's actually illegal for a legit gov't agency to try and obtain money this way. Also these companies are never able to provide documentation of their claims.

Just got a new cell with Virgin Mobile. Keep getting calls from companies like ARO looking for money from the d***hit that previously had my number.

These people have  phoned us twice a week for months on end, even after being informed that the party they are trying to reach has not lived here for nearly 2 years. We do not know where this person is and do not want to know. Not sure how we can convince ARO (?) of this fact.

Your victims would be better off flushing their money down the toilet instead of letting you clean out their bank accounts, at least then they would know where the money went.

They call for any unpaid ICBC traffic violations. I just called them back and apparently I owe a traffic violation from 2009. 4 years later they decide to call me about it. There is no interest at least with ICBC for traffic violations and they allow you to pay them through your online banking, just add them as a Payee and be done with it.

The only thing I could think is like the 1 guy said. I know i had a speeding ticket in BC from about 2 years ago. IT might be the RCMP trying to get money for this. I just blocked the number from my phone. F*** em

I don't know why they are calling they won't stop nd its a recording telling u to call back a long distance number in which u are put on hold indefinitely I can't handle it nay more it is harrasment.

It is not a scam, It is a legitimate collection agency who has clients such as Scotiabank, CIBC and more

These people leave message almost DAILY.  I'm getting really tired of it & I'm registered on the Do Not Call List for Canada.  What can I do to stop them calling?
