I received another voicemail.. this time on my HOUSE PHONE:

10-11-10 4:41PM

"Message is for (insert my name nere), my name is Jim Lofton, I'm a process server with the state. Ma'am, reason for the phone call is the same reason I called last time. You have a summons to appear in court that's been issued for you. I have been ordered to serve it to you. The problem is I don't have the correct address on file. The phone number pops up no problem on the search program that I have but the address is wrong. I got you on <insert my street name> but the house I went to, they swear up and down that's not the (insert my last name here)'s. I just called and spoke to somebody at this phone number who verified that you do indeed live there. So, this is going to be considered an official notification. I'm going to make a note on the file that it is such. You're in danger of missing a court date. I'm going to leave a number for the plaintiff. If you have questions or concerns give them a call. Also, it's the opportunity to update your address so I can get this delivered to you. 'Cause if you don't I'm just going to return it to the county and you're getting a no contact status. And, that definitely gets a failure to appear ticket issued for you. Phone number is 877-309-2780, reference court docket number (insert number here)... (insert my name here) this is your official notification."

Notice that, even though he said he'd called before, he left a DIFFERENT name. Though, I do believe it IS the same guy. I listened to both messages and the voice on both messages sound exactly alike. East Coast accent (Boston, New York, Jersey). The "court docket" number he left is the same as before, but the phone number he left me is different. And, this time, he didn't leave a company name.

These people are unbelievable.

I got a phone call on my cell this morning, the number showed up as "0" so I didn't answer it. A voicemail was left as follows:

"This is for (my name here). Ma'am, my name is Joseph Ferguson (sp?) I'm a state licensed process server I work for a company called United Litigations. Now, there's been a formal complaint filed against you this morning and an order to serve you a summons to appear in court. I see you've got a couple of different civil charges here there's also a fraudulant use of check charge listed on the citation. Reason for the phone call is state law requires me to inform you that you have a legal right to contact the plaintiff if you have questions or concerns prior to paperwork being issued against you. And, try and schedule something with you on a cordial voluntary basis to get this paperwork issued. Phone number for the plaintiff is 877-801-8346... reference your court docket number (insert number here)."

He also left a message on my EX IN-LAW's voicemail. They told my ex-husband which resulted in his showing up at my house to give me the message, with phone and docket numbers as well. Luckily, by that time, I had looked up the 877 number on the web and discovered that it seems to be some kind of scam. Reassured that I really wasn't going to jail for check fraud, he left shaking his head.

Event Reminder
Called here looking for an employee of mine and said they were a process server and needed to talk to my employee about an important court date. His name was Mike Brown and would not identify the company he worked for when asked.
