I talk to them.  A lot.  Windows Event Viewer..what's that?  How do I open it again?  Wow those errors look really bad.  What do I do?  Please help me.  I need to go to a website? What's that?  Browser, what's a browser? Was that "http" with a colon or a semicolon? What do I do now?  huh, could you please repeat that?  Click on what?  I did but nothing is happening.  What do I do now?

Of course, I am nowhere near my actual computer while I am wasting their time.

The rampant iYogi scam operation of India.

They claim to be outsourced tech support for various services, mostly computer-related.  They want access to your computer to 'effectively assist you.'  Translation:  to invade & compromise ~ that is, hack ~ your computer.  They also want to charge you for the experience.  An iYogi 'support technician,' a woman calling herself Sarmistha Thapa, was extremely rude, as well.  Best guess is that they are based somewhere in the eastern portion of the subcontinent.  Alternate ph# used by iYogi:  877-501-3691.  iYogi = iNdiaScam.  You have been warned.

Thought I was calling Dell.  On the phone for 4 hr. never got the problem fixed.  All I wanted was to get connected to my router coast 199.99 and didn't get no where.  They did refund most of the money, I am still waiting on 29.99.  This company is a big joke.  Now they keep calling me, I don't answer.

I called gateway computer customer service number because I had a trouble with wireless internet setup with my brand new netbook.  It connected me to India and after speaking to the person and giving my name and phone number she asked me, "How would you like pay for this service?"  I told her that this is a brand new netbook and it should be covered under warranty.  She replied that hardwares are but not the software contents.  I told her that it is outrageous and I told her that I will not be needing her assistant.  Right after that day I have been getting telemarketing phone call from India including this phone number.

I had a problem with my d-link router, and was given the toll free number mentioned to get help resetting it. The man (obviously in India) said he had to set up a remote access to fix it. then proceeded to go thru all my files on the computer. I told him several times I just wanted to reset my router, and he said he was looking for the problem in my computer that caused it to stop working ( I had pushed the reset button and caused the memory to wipe out). He said I had viruses and uneeded files on my computer that had to be cleaned up, for a fee, before he could reset my router. I told him to log off, then I couldn't shut my computer off. I pulled the plug, and unhooked the internet. My internet provider redid my IP address for me, and I got a different router, and closed and reopened all my bank accounts with new numbers, and reset all my passwords. Better safe than sorry even if they do charge to reset your IP.
And he called this morning, I told him there was no such person at this number.
PS: My internet provider said there would be a pop up on your screen if someone attempts to remotely access your computer, but not to leave it on and unattended.

I called Belkin as my router was not working properly. I agreed to the remote desktop use via Yogi and am seriously regretting it! After spending over an hour on the phone with some Indian guy I could barely understand, they told me that they needed to create a new IP address and that it would cost $99.99. I freaked out on them, called it robbery and hung up. Now I'm all freaked out that they have access to my computer and everything on it! I don't feel safe accessing any of my bank accounts now.  So frustrating. And still, my freaking router isn't working properly. Do NOT trust these people. It is totally fraudulent!!

I experienced a problem in setting up a new linksys router, called them but somehow was connected to Yogi, what a scam. After some three hours on the phone they wanted $199.99 for the fix plus one year software support, then $99.99 for the fix only then finally no charge.  Be careful.

I had problem with internet connection yesterda,y and called D-Link and Yogi company which is a scam and fake support. They said, i had major problem with my Laptop (Viruses) and they tried to get a remote setup and after all they can't fix the problem and they charge you more money if you want them to fix it. All my problem was, we just moved in, and the internet was on and off and they make it harder and they said i had a virus with my com, but that  was not the case that i can't get a signal. After all i figured out what was wrong, now i fixed my own laptop and have a very good signal without paying them more money. What a scam!

YEP - you are all right! I had called 888-999-4747 for hp support and they want 59.99 to fix "software" issues. If not fixed then they refund the money because it would then be hardware issues. DONT believe that! they have called me 4 times since I called them on May 1st.  same thing :(

It would be from Yogi or one of the sister companies that fakes hp support, then they try to get you to set up a remote desktop session. They steal you Windows license and other products, then charge you the full price of a new windows license and put a pirated version on you computer. they make 2 times the amount of a windows license.

There is never anyone on the line...call backs result in "no one available to answer, try back later."

I have been getting calls from ? who wants me to go to my pc and he will help get rid of the ailments.
He advises that I had called to request help, (last November), I advised I did not and if I did what took 5 months to respond...avoided the question. Called back several times in a day and advised that I asked him to call back. I advised I had no problems, did not request any help and did not ask to be called back.
I belive it is the same number but not sure..

You might be right about yogi -- I had to go through them to get help on my HP. They've called me since then. I suspect the calls from this number are them too. Moral of the story: don't call HP tech support.
