Simple solution..block the call on your phone. Smart phones allow u to block the caller. I just did. Ive had several calls from them never answered it.

The person knows my name and is in my estimation a threat to my happiness.
Why isn't something being done about these calls??

Got a call from 1 877-828 0206 @ 5:00 on 4/24/13, I answered and the caller said "whatever", then I hung up

If the caller uses obscene or threatening language, repeatedly calls and hangs up, repeatedly calls and is silent, breaths heavily or plays a message, it is harassing call. That is illegal in almost every state in the U.S.  What happens next?

Set up a "Trap" on your phone line. This enables the phone company to determine the telephone number of the caller. You will be asked to keep a log noting the time and date of any harassing calls are received, normally for 2 weeks. There is no charge for traps.
Using Call Trace may also help. This must be set up in advance, it only work for local calls and there is a fee each time it is used. Immediately after receiving a harassing call, you enter the *57 on your phone.  and the call is automatically traced (1157 on rotary phones).

Yeah just got a call from them 1:38pm PST 4/17/13. Dont answer 800's anyways but was curious to see who it was so I called from a different number and after a ring or two somone answered, "Customer service, How can I help you" after which I hung up.

If you ask me its just really random, tin foil hat moment maybe its the govt.??

I bet each one of you here owes on some kind of bill collections, this is nothing more then them spoofing numbers because you block or ignore other numbers called they are fishing to see if you and what you will answer the phone for...so they can trap you into their low life scheme of threats to make you pay for some 10 yr old out of SOL debt.

This is happening to me too.  They either hang up or say stupid stuff first, then hang up.  With my android phone I can use a setting for this specific number that will keep the call from ever ringing to me.  It's odd that the phone company (who ever it is) can't be notified about the harrasment.

Why do they call?

I received 13 calls within one hour, and nobody is on the line.

whoever answers on the other line is always rude and refuses to answer my direct questions and tells me it doesn't matter and kept trying to hangup onme.I asked how my name and number was received on their end. Eventually, I had to threaten them I was going to file a complaint to find out it was a company called quote wizard and to have my name taken off of the list.

I just got a call from them with a guy who TRIED to sound serious telling me that there's an order regarding a claim and that I have charges against me. However they didn't tell me where from. They initially called me blocked.

It is another scam! They call and hang up and wait for you to call them back (possibly so you initiate the call??). They say that they are calling for an auto quote I requested (I have never requested a quote). They then spout off a bunch of info about my car (not the correct information).  I asked to be removed from the list, the guy said something about me having called them back makes them continuously call! They hang up  when you ask to be removed from the list.

I got the cal this am and as always , it goes to the fax line, then i reference it on the net first before finding out who it is ! :-) !!!  Geeeez, i get enough JUNK mail in the mail , it's never ending , LOL !

I just got a call at 12:50 pm Mountain time in Utah. The hung up after a few seconds. I'm going to block the number.

I have received multiple calls on my cell phone, at all hours of the day and night, including weekends.  When I checked this site and found it could be because I requested an auto insurance quote TWO YEARS AGO.  I decided to call them back using Redial.  They guy told me, and I quote, "I don't know what you're talking about.  We never call people."  Bullsh*t!  I told him I have Caller ID and I know every time they call, regardlesss of whether or not they left a message.  I called him using Redial.  He continued to deny they ever called me so I then told him to remove my number from their call list or I would report them to the Insurance Commission.  He hung up on me.

I called again and spoke to another man and when I asked for the name of the company he told me it is STI.  Between him and the automated system I learned that they (also?) sell cell phones and/or cell phone plans.  I told that man I am very ill and don't have the time or energy to receive these constant phone calls.  He also insisted they never call people and he was simply a customer service agent.  When I reiterated my situation I could hear him typing and he assured me they would not contact me again.  Quite a claim when just 2 minutes before he claimed they never make unsolicited calls, huh?

I recently chaged my phone number and service provider so hopefully they will not be bothering me again.  I encourage you all to report them to your state's Insurance Commission and maybe we can put them out of the agggressive & harassing sales and marketing business.  Good luck to you all :-)

I missed the call and then called back within a few minutes. After a weird quiet pause, someone answered and said "Customer Service" I said I had missed a call from this number and was wondering what it was for. The man then said "I'm sorry ma'am, we must have called you in error, sorry about that ma'am, then hung up". That doesn't make sense to me... he had no idea my name or number...?

goyyrn several calls from this number no one says anything.  Called back got bad connection but sounded like someone from africa or foreigner.

This number called me on my cell. Left no message. Don't recall asking for an insurance quote as my wife takes care of all that. Any other ideas?

Keeps calling my cellphone at inappropriate times and hanging up when I answer.  When I return the call, this lady ask for a person by name when I state that I'm not that person she continues to go into her rant and "oh we will put your number on our do not call list", but guess what she did call again today, I basically told her, I'm asking her to call again, maybe she'll think I'm a psycho and stop calling.

I was called by these guys as well, called them back, expressed that i'm not interested.  These people work in a call center and are paid by comession.  Try to be a little emphatic with these folks as they are trained to get off the phone as soon as they discover its not a productive call for them.  The other thing I want to tell you is these people are not covered by the do not call list.  They are not telemarketers who are fishing for custimers, when you select information for an auto insurence quote online you are giving them permission to call you in reguards to that.  Its a pain the butt but you gotta call them and request the DNC list one or two times.  Took me twice but its been a while since i've had to hear from them.

Received a few call from this company in the past few days.  As previous posts mention - the line is silent when I answer.  
    Today I called the number back and all I could hear was a young lady laughing and saying "Oh my god - I'm sorry" and then she hung up.  I called back again and the party was still going on but after a few seconds a young gentleman asked "yeah..can I help you?  I mean Customer Service. I mean thank you for calling Customer Service can I help you?"
    I asked the young gentleman to remove my number from his call list.  He cordially agreed and thanked me again for calling customer service.
    I think it's great that this company hires the handicapped.

This number called me 3 times over the past 2 days.  When I answer, there is just silence and the number hangs up after a few seconds.  I just called them back and they knew my name when they answered. (weird).  The girl on the other end explained it was a "customer care" follow up call from a car insurance quote request from wayyyy back.  I told her I was no longer interested in a quote and she said my number would be placed on their "do not call" list and I wouldn't get any more calls from the company.  I hope she's right!

This number has called me twice and then hangs up without answering.
