What is this number: 1-877-829-4736 ?  These people called a friend of mine claiming to offer an invitation to a dinner with George Bush!  How stupid are these people?

Jettie Atkins from NRCC called asking for my husband. Trying to issue an invitation to a dinner at the White House with [outgoing] president G dubya Bush and she said she was calling on behalf of Cong. Tom Cole. Asked for a fax number, I declined. I asked for a call-back number and she gave me 877-829-4736. I find Cole's website and he's in Oklahoma!
From the NRCC site, I found the link to the Business Advisory Council's farewell Dinner HONORING bush. It then links back to nrcc . org. There is a small text link at the bottom of the graphic: http://www.businessadvisorycouncil.org/bac_images/2008_Pres_Dinner_Agenda.pdf . What's funny is that it reads "tentative schedule" at the top!

Just got a call for this same thing. The secretary didn't understand the persons name so she went online and typed in the number and this is what we found. They did fax us the sheet saying we were invited to a dinner with Pres. Bush. THis is a scam, and you shouldn't proceed with joining it. We are republicans but even we saw through this. Hope this helps.

I received a message on my answering machine this morning (4/30/2008), to call this number from a Randy Fletcher, from the NRCC BUSINESS ADVISORY COUNCIL and that Congressman ----- (could not understand the name, no matter how many times I listened to the message) suggested I be invited to the ANNUAL WHITE HOUSE DINNER. I can't imagine why they would call me, and I do not know who the Congressman would be that would suggest my name, or my business, but I don't recognize what I could make of the name to be any of the Congressmen/Women from our State.  When I called "Mr. Fletcher", this is evidentally a key word that is used to signal that a message was left for you to return a call to them, and you get another rep, because Mr. Fletcher is currently unavailable. That person then puts a recorded message on, that is supposedly Congressman Tom Cole, from OK, who asks you to join the NRCC BUSINESS ADVISORY COUNCIL, and that he would like me to be a representative for small business owners, in the State of DE. It says that Nancy Peloski has already started to attack small business, as though we are rich, by having more taxes put on us. When the recorded message is over, another person comes on the line to ask if you could hear the message clearly, to which I answered yes. The next question was if Congressman Cole can count on me to join the NRCC, and represent DE for small businesses. When I responded that at this time I am unwilling to agree to something I know little about, but I would gladly read over the literature that they send to me in the mail and make a decision after I know more, she responded that they don't send the information through the mail, but I COULD go to the website of www.NRCC.org and read about the Council. She also said I could call 888-383-4164 for more information. It is my policy that anyone who calls me, but cannot provide the information, through the mail, I can't do business with. So, there you have it! A scheme to get money by joining the Council, or whatever it is, I truly don't think there is any intention to really invite me to the Presidential Dinner. Besides, everything that was mentioned was pro-Republican, and I am a Democrat, if I am either, and my household is not pro-Bush.

I also received a similar call from a "Shirly Concis (sp?)? claiming to be my contact from the NRCP Business Advisory Council. She was calling me on behalf of Congressman Tom Cole to invite me to a dinner.

I couldn't find any information on the web about the  NRCP Business  Advisory Council, Shirley , or the 1(877)829-4736 call back phone number.

I also received a call directed to my Son stating that they were calling for Congressman Tom Cole to invite him to a dinner with President Bush.  Tom Cole is a congressman from Oklahoma.  We live in the NYC area!

Who owns this number? Anyone knows?
