I received a text from an undisclosed number telling me my card ending with **** had been deactivated and I needed to call this number right away to reactivate my card. I ignored the text since it was obvious it is a scam. The digits were correct but in the wrong order also.

Thank goodness for websites like this. I just got the same message on my phone. I ALWAYS check it out first even though I never call them back. Thanks for the info, folks.

I got the same text that all of you have. I checked Southwest FCU's website and they said this:

VERY IMPORTANT - Vishing Scam
If you receive a telephone call or a text message to your cell phone, you are being vished! New Mexico is currently experiencing vishing scams. A vishing scam is a way to elicit either banking or credit card information from someone, which may then be used against that person. Vishing scam operatives WANT access to this information so they can gain access to credit card or bank accounts and clean out the funds. THIS IS A SCAM! NEVER GIVE YOUR INFORMATION OUT. Southwest FCU has security measures in place to ensure privacy and safety of the information you provide to us! We already know this information, so we DO NOT need to ask for it. To report a call, telephone the local police department and file a report.

Yep, got the TEXT too - twice. It is from 502 and read "RI FCU Alert: Your CARD starting with 4306* has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 877-838-6734 to REACTIVATE your CARD." I wish there was a way to get them back for their poor attempt to steal info from people.

Of course I have not card with that number or bank. I never call these type of things back as they could be scams as this seems to be.

I got a phone message from this number saying that Southwest FCU (I assume that is Federal Credit Union) deactivated my card.  Credit card?? Debit card???  Don't know,...... never had any account with Southwest FCU or whoever they are.  The message wants me to call this number back.
