Did not get a call - got a 'letter' from National Council for Consumer Debt Relief according to the seal.  Google says the zip code '95472' is Sebastopol, CA.  The USPS Presorted First-Class PAID
permit is '191'.

'You have been selected by a Certified Non-Profit 501c3 Debt Management Agency to participate in a nationally sanctioned program which allows select individuals to reduce the interest rates on their
unsecured credit card debt to rates as low as 0% APR.'

The local post office in 95472 should be able to say who 'owns' Permit 191.

Hope this helps.

Definite scam.  Person answering phone claimed they are "Transfer Direct," a call center for "many many companies" and claimed that she couldn't even tell me the name of the company sending me the mailing even if I gave her the "case number."  She said Transfer Direct is based in Colorado.  There is no "Transfer Direct" registered with the Colorado Secretary of State.  I am going to call my former mortgage company and ask them about it.

I received the same letter as noted with the other comments.  The "seal" on the top left hand side makes it look official but if you try to read it, you can no further than "National Council" and the rest is faded looking (on purpose).  It is a scam

Take a closer look at the "Member FDIC".  Not sure about yours, but mine has a light shade of grey which would make the letters "Member EDIC"...does this even exist?!!!

I also received the same letter as Lisa. They trying to make it look like they are a part of the government with an "official seal"; while also stating in smaller print they are not affiliated with any government agency. When something seems too good to be true, it probably is. The decline of ethical decision making of what people will do to advertise their "business/scam" is constantly surprising me.

Got the same mail as Lisa and have the same thought about making it look official including wording on the outside indicating jail time for interfering or obstruction. On the bottom, it says Licensed by the Department of Corp;  not sponsored or affiliated with your lenter, HUD, FHA, or any government agency.  Yeah... They should be reported for misleading email.  Scam Inc.!

Got a letter in the mail from them. I have to hand it to them, they do make it look very official, like it's coming from the government.

I got a letter in the mail and it referenced this number but had no details regarding the name of the company offering this offer.  I called the number to see if I could get a company name and they said that they were called Transfer Direct a 3rd party company that works on behalf of other companies.  I am guessing that had I proceeded with the call I likely would have been solicited for something and that the offer was just to lure me in, but since I did not proceed with the call I don't know that for sure.  I'd be interested to see if anyone goes that next step to see if it really is a solicitation.

Hey Jeffrey-
I received a letter from some company regarding lowering my payments on my house mortgage.  When I looked up the number online it brought me to this.  I was trying to figure out if this was a legitimate offer, but can't find out.  it's the same number that you said you recieeved a call from. The letter does not have any information about the company on it so I'm a little bit leary.
did you find out anything?  Hope this helps.
