Scammed by the same Kingston crew, used my PC Mastercard to buy in, reported the fraud to them but they say "You bought a membership" and refused to refund the money. Pretty good scam when the membership is for a service that does not exist and the F****** bank says but it is a membership and refuses to see that you never get anything back. Sucked in by the 2 for 1 certificate that never arrived and that jerk Jon Vieniot. Be careful people of Sundream Vacations, Tropical Laguna Travel and Can-Am Savings Network, they are all likely willing participants in the fraud

Since my post I have gone to Small Claims and won. I have tried to get my money by visiting the Dartmouth location with my  Court Order....to no avail and not surprisingly that location is now vacant. During November and December I repeatedly phoned the Windsor Head Office and spoke directly to the so called "owner" Chris. Each time I phoned he pretended that he could not remember speaking to me. I faxed him the Court Order. It was during our last conversation that I realized that I too would never see my money....like you a lesson learned:(

I wonder if there is anything else we can do collectively? I have considered calling both the Windsor police and the CBC....

I'll never see the money. Lesson learned.

I am in the same boat!! Went to the presentation in Dartmouth on May 6. Came home and found some disturbing info online about the company and its personnel so cancelled the next day. Have called the branch AND the head office in Windsor many times as well as sent emails....only one of which was ever answered! Same line every time...the cheque is in the mail. Submitted a complaint to the BBB. They did not respond to the complaint! Off to Small Claims Court I go:(

Hi Darren,

My in-laws purchased this "membership".  And when my husband and I went to book our vacation to Cancun for this January, they told us to go through Sundreams.  We are traveling with a 3 year old, and now I'm a bit concerned that I will show up for my flight etc. and my tickets won't exist.

Have you actually booked and gone on a vacation through Sundreams?  If so, did everything work out as planned?

I have called Delta Vacations to confirm that they have all our information from Sundreams and they said they do.  I'm just a little paranoid now!

Thanks!

We attended the presentation last night (July 12) at the new Sun Dreams office located on Waterford Street (upstairs, above some sort of industrial construction type building).  The office was typical of a travel agency.  We were 'checked in' and then were seated in a small conference room  with one of the staff members.  She proceeded to do a questionare with us about our travel habbits and whatnot, and then we sat through a presentation.  The whole point of this presentation was to convince us that being a part of this travel club was going to save us thousands on our future trips.  After the presentation, the staff members made themselves available to answer questions.  Our only question was, of course, how much was the membership.  After a 5 or 10 minute spiel she got around to telling us that the membership comes in 10, 20 or lifetime terms and the associated costs with each.  But, because I was in the healthcare field they would offer us an extra 15% off.  So a 10 year membership would have cost 29.95 a month for 10 years.  She mentions that the membership is transferable and sellable, but mentions nothing about cancellation.  So if you do the math: $30 x 12mths/yr x 10 years = $3600.  That's a whole trip in itself!!  I didn't even pay attention to the 20 year or lifetimes plans.

I'm sure that this company honours its discounted prices, but unless you are an avid and frequent traveller I don't think you'd end up saving much in the long run at all.  I was also very skeptical after no mention of a cancellation penalty, procedure, etc.  Life changes, and being locked into a payment for 10 years didn't appeal to me at all.  We politely declined and drew our ticket out of a drum.  Our prize was, of course, a $500 gift certificate for our next '7 day, all inclusive trip' booked through them.

Bottom line, unless you travel all the time, don't waste your time going for your free gift.  They make it sound a lot different on the phone than what it actually was all about.

Survey
My wife and I attended a presentation on May 1st at the office in Thunder Bay and decided on a membership.  We did our homework and saw this page before attending.  We were sure to start booking our next two vacations inside the 10 day cancellation period.  Yesterday we received our confirmations and final prices for our 3 nights in Duluth at the suites at canal park and and an all exclusive in November.  We saved about $70/night on the three nights in Duluth and about $720 on our all exclusive to Cuba in November.  We were smart and financed the membership.   So we've give Sundreams $350 (cheque which they told us they would certify the next day as it is head offices policy) and have saved almost $1000.  So far we feel we made the right choice.

Note though:
The presentation does entice you to buy while you are there.  But was not high pressure like the timeshares we have seen.
The odds in the draw barrel are that you will receive a $500 travel voucher more often than other bigger prizes.
When you are there, ask for Brad.  He offered us to do the draw and leave without watching the show.  We stayed of course.

I got one of these calls as well. I did the survey and 2 days later they called and informed me I won a prize, but had to attend a one hour information session. They said they are a travel agency opening in Thunder Bay very soon, and just want to get their name out there. On multiple occasions, she told me they are not a time share company, but a travel agency.
I was told there would be no commitment to purchase anything, but as long as I go to watch the presentation, I would win one of 4 prizes that I have two years to redeem. She had me select a date/time for the session I wished to attend. The ones she gave me to choose from are at the Polish Legion. She told me her supervisor would call and give me a 6 digit reservation code to get into the event.
Their number is on my phone from last night again, but they didn't leave a voicemail.
I don't plan on attending this event, and believe it is a scam of some sort.. They should call from a local number if they want to seem legit.

My parents went to this travel "seminar" at the Airlane Hotel in Thunder Bay, Ontario on Tuesday April 17, 2012.  My dear mother paid the membership in FULL by cheque (2839.75) The next morning at 10:00 am her bank called to ask if she wrote a cheque for that amount.  My dear mom said she did - they certified and cashed the cheque immediately.  She deals with a small bank - credit union.  Do these people have the time to go to all these different banks branches to certify all the cheques they receive the very next day?  Of course they do - before people change their minds.  Now we have written the cancellation letter (which has to be done within 10 days)  and wait for a refund within 15 days.  Checked the BBB - they are not accredited - and the complaints about not recieving refunds just keep rolling in.
BEWARE.

My parents as well went to one on Tuesday April 17, 2012 in Thunder Bay, Ontario - at the Airlane hotel. My mother paid in full by cheque (what a dear!).  On Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. her bank called her to ask her if she wrote a cheque for $2839.75.  She said she did.  They certified and cashed the cheque immediately.  Now if a  business is doing a 3 day promo wouldn't you think that they would wait until the end of the 3 day blitz to cash the cheques?  No - they went directly to her bank and branch to certify it before she changed her mind.  Are they going to all these branches to certify each individual cheque? I wrote the letter to cancel the membership, and then checked them out on the BBB - not accredited, and there have been complaints (some as recent as the last 2 weeks) about people that cancel and are not receiving their full refund.  They are still in our town today - calling the police to check it out with them next.  SCAMMMMMM

Just got a call from that number, looked it up and ended here. They did not leave a message. I called the number back and got a message. It was not the one something like " If you do not wish to be called again press 1 and leave your name and phone number"

Instead it was "Sorry but all our representatives are busy right now. Leave your name and phone number and we will cal you back"

I left my name and number, said I was on the DO NOT CALL LIST and did not want to hear from them again

And ( as sockofit asked "When is this ever going to stop.")  it stops real quick when I end the message with a blast from an air horn (those little survival ones you need as part of a boat safety kit)

They get my message.

Got a call from them. First thing they said is that I was recommended by someone. I asked who? They told me a name. They then asked a bunch of questions such as last vacation, age, when plan to take next vacation. They called from 877-857-3877. Got off the phone, called the person to find out that they lied to me. Now I feel dumb. Very unethical. If a company is to lie to you from the get go, who knows what else they would try to do to screw you. This company is a waste to society, adding know value. These companies should not exist and won't exist for long.
