I just got the same security alert that everyone else here has recv'd. It said my card was blocked and to call 877 865 2709..the bank listed was my bank, but the call back number was different from the number I have listed for them. I called my bank thinking something was up, and they checked my card and my husband's card and no blocks..can only assume it's a scam./ That and I don't even recall that my bank has my cell on file, that was my other clue. by the way, i have never, ever, evern recv'd a text from my bank in the 7+ yrs i have been banking with them, they always correspond thru mail. Can only assume this is a scam

seems like this is the season for scams.  I just had the exact same experience--we don't use Bank Of America, which is the bank that was allegedly calling.  I would think there is another way to report this to the proper authorities.....

Just called T-mobile and reported this 877-865-2709 Phishing scam. I was advised by T-mobile customer service to log in to mytmobile.com and set up a phishing filter for my cellphone. I recommend calling them and letting them know your phone number information has been breached.

Bogus text to my T-Mobile Cell Number from onlinebanking@alert.bankofamerica.com.
"Sorry-We've temporarily blocked your card for security purposes.  Contact us at 877-865-2709".

Asks for your card number right away when you call without any company indentification in their automated system.  Never give your account number over the phone OR in a text!

SCAM!

I did not call, I was sure it was a scam since I don't even hold a bank account at Bank of America. It's sad to see how many people fall for this.

Same deal here:  message on T-mobile from 3703 "onlinebanking@alert.bankofamerica.com / Sorry -- we've temporarily blocked your card for security purposes. Contact us at 1-877-865-2709.  Thank You. /" Smelled a rat.  No direct B of A card, but enough plausibility to give concern.  Glad I checked this site!

Also a T-mobile user who just got the message.  Getting text messages from a four digit number like that means it came from an email address, which is why the address appears at the beginning like that.

Much like everyone here, I am a t-mobile user.  But I don't bank with Bank of America.  THe text looked official enough that I thought maybe someone used my info to open up an acccount, but I was suspicious.  THanks for alerting me, I'll let all my t-mobile friends know.

T-Moblie Seattle area subscriber.  On 12-13-09, received scam SMS from 3881 about B of A blocked account. I don't have a B of A account.
I believe that the blocks of phone numbers assigned to cell phone carriers are public info. Of course its not public info who has the number. It may be that T-Mobile did not leak the numbers but they may be able to trace the SMSs to the sender.  Most likely that won't help much.
