We have been getting a robo call from 877 865 9814 every day this week. The message is the same as others have experienced with no stating of a person the call is for. I called the number back today after realizing that it isn't going to stop by ignoring it. All I got was a message saying there was a high call volme and leave your name and nmumber for a return call. i said. "You have called our number (xxx) xxx-xxxx every day this week saying you are a debt collector and we have no over due debts so stop calling us or I will turn your number in to the police!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!"" Let's see what happens. i am right after typing this going to report it to the BBB and the FTC and suggest everyone being harrassed by this man do the same. What an idiot!!!!! He claims to be a debt collector, but I think it's a scam.

It's a dregs of the earth debt collector in chicago. They are the leading COMPLAINT in Illinois and have been investigated by the ATG there. I suggest giving them hell by using their contact page, tell them all calls are being recorded for the DOJ investigation you're initiating.
They're a 'bucket shop' who buys up OLD debts, many bogus or paid off years ago, and tries, through INTIMIDATION and ILLEGAL TACTICS to get you to pay them. DO NOT DO IT. SUE THEM INSTEAD unless they provide you with an original unpaid invoice or shipping label etc. which they CANNOT Do.

Here is the website of the Scum Collectors. They've phoned me and left a non legible message. They've been investigated by the Illinois Attorney General. I suggest giving them a campaign of hell in their "contact" page and threatening to record every conversation as a legal aid to the DOJ investigation and FTA as well against them. I suggest that they are a 'bucket shop' that buys old OLD debts, many bogus or paid off years ago and tries to collect via intimidation. I've dealt with insurance ones in the past, truly the dregs of the earth. I owe no man any thing except Mastercard and I'm current.
Have Fun!

I also registered with do not call and can not be bothered by this chop shop, go back to the olden days and send me a bill or a statement saying your taking legal action, a call at 9:00pm at night is overkill.....

So much for do not call registry....I registered all my phones and still get this annoying sadistic agency. My credit is already crap, so they are not hurting me that way-but yes annoying being woken up to this.

I've been getting calls from this number for several months. Finally just started cussing a blue streak until it hung up, but it's a computer generated call, so probably wasted my breath. I owe nothing to anyone, other than my mortgage payment, which has never even been late in 15 years.

I have been divorced for over 15 years and am getting calls from "Richard Silver" regarding my ex-husband's unpaid debts. We are no affiliated in any way, shape, or form. Each time they call I tell them that they have the wrong number and I ask them to please remove my number from their system. I have even gone so far as to ask if the call is being recorded and threatened leagal action if they continued to call my number but, of course, they hang up if YOU start asking questions and then call back the next day. GRRRRRRRR!!!!!
LaLa 2012-06-22 16:10:10 Debt Collector
I want it to stop. Richard Silver phone calls every day. Please make it stop!!!!

So if he's a debt collector, he is not saying he is trying to collect a debt. I called my lawyer this morning and will attempt to get a settlement for not following the fair debt collection act (or something like that)

rusty 2012-01-04 15:15:03 Unknown
this is not a legitimate collection agency - its a scam to get people to pay them you idiot
Upstanding Citizen 2011-12-31 02:44:59 Unknown
Do an online search for "phishing." Sounds like a scam trying to get personal information for illegal use like identity theft. Search "identity theft by phone." The fake name Richard Silver is often used, but it could be anything.

Please do not call

what i have started doing is calling these jerkoffs back but i dial *67 in front of 8778659814 (the 867 blocks my number and they get a private caller). when they answer i don't reply and after a short time i hang up. i then repeat as many times as i feel like to annoy them and keep them from getting their work done. yes, it's a waste of my time but i do feel satisfied.

Those of you getting skip trace calls for other persons can send LERS a cease-comm notice. If you can possibly be held liable for a debt claim, a dispute letter demanding validation is a better option. You can in the same notice limit or revoke call permission. Send all letters via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft them. These will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril.
The problem with any blanket advice to flatly ignore debt collectors is that they have one vital distinction from other types of pesky callers. Collectors can get a judge to enforce their will. Frankly, the time to begin defending yourself is with that first dunning letter and/or set of auto-dialed calls. Earlier action is *much* easier than later, when you're named as a defendant for sitting on your hands.
High volume collectors bend and break laws such as FDCPA and FCRA every day because they are infrequently challenged. Those who learn their game can make their job difficult if not impossible to complete. Anyone curious can learn how to exercise their rights as an alleged debtor at FTC-dot-gov.

I think most people are not angry at collection companies for doing their rightful job. I think people are angry because of the reprehensible tactics that some collection companies employ.

Just go to your telephone company web site and BLOCK the offending number, so it will not be able to come thru.
But that's nothing permanent, because those Caller ID spoofers use a number for one day or so, then start to use some other number. The numbers they use are abandoned numbers, not yet reassigned by the telephone companies.
From Wikipedia:
Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's Caller ID display which is not that of the actual originating station. The term is commonly used to describe situations in which the motivation is considered malicious by the speaker or writer. Just as e-mail spoofing can make it appear that a message came from any e-mail address the sender chooses, Caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to have come from any phone number the caller wishes. Because of the high trust people tend to have in the Caller ID system, spoofing can call the system's value into question.
It is amazing that such a crooked practice is allowed to go on!
Where are the feds when I need them????? I wrote to my US Rep...no response!
Bottom line: IGNORE IT and never give the other side ANY information. PERIOD!

Hi Mary
If your business cell is an Android phone you can down an app called Mr. Number from the market. This is a free app that will stop these calls. If you have a normal cell phone you can create a group in your contacts and name it blacklist. You then assign a silent ringtone to this group. Once you save any number to the blacklist group your phone won?t ring. If these options do not work for you please repost. There are other technical options to stop harassment.

This is from Leading Edge Recovery Systems. They are debt collectors. They have called me 115 times in the past 45 days. I have tried reasoning with these people to no avail. I have managed to settle a lot of my debt with other creditors because they were interested in recovering their money. Leading Edge seems more intent on harassing me than acting like an adult. Times continue to be tough however I will continue to work with serious creditors to get them paid. What I won?t do is engage people that wish to act like petulant children. Leading Edge should try using adult tactics.

This person is really a harrasing one. We need a class action lawyer to claim puitive damage. Any one not introducing themselvesand the company they represent is a harrasser. We need to get a newlaw passed, if it is not there. We can sue this guy Richard Silver personally as aclassaction, where his property can be attached. He wo't stop the millions of people he is harrassing.

We've been getting calls from this number for some time now. We got a phone made by Panasonic that saves and blocks phone numbers. We added this one. They call and get a busy signal. This call blocker has been really nice. All these crank callers get blocked now. Even the one we got from Kingston Jamaica! LOL
bonbon1 2011-07-13 00:42:04 Unknown
Richard Silver keeps calling. He never states who the message is for. For all I know he has the wrong number. I don't call back anyone who doesn't state their business and who they wish to speak to.
