If you have an account with the company listed, source their contact number from a phone directory, their website or visit them in person. Never call a suspicious number provided to you in a text message. The company will be able to validate whether the text message is genuine or not.

Text on cell phone that my WELD account is locked due to unusual activity. Don't know what a WELD Account is and do not have one. I dialed the number that was left to call back to from a land line and just kept ringing.

FOOTHILLS: Account has been restricted.
Don't know what that means.
Pasadena 2011-06-06 21:04:55 Unknown
Received text message that said " Hi. Our records indicated that your 1st CITY C.U. account is restricted. Contact at (877)874-2070" Obviously a phishing attempt.
Shaye 2011-06-06 21:04:55 Unknown
I got the same text, called tmobile. yes, it is a phishing attempt. Interestingly, it coincides with tmobile changing their policies and texting easypay customers a confirmation #. So I got a text confirming payment from my bank account followed by the phishing text saying my account was restricted. At any rate AVOID CONTACT!

I also rec'd these text messages over and over again. Very frustrated. Got it all situated today, though- thanks to a very helpful T-mobile rep.
T-Mobile showed me how to stop getting them. Come to find out, these thieves are simply using the email address that is for each individual t-mobile customer: 513-xxx-xxxx@tmomobile.net (if you have a t-mobile phone number, you have a t-mobile email address that receives incoming emails as text messages).
She walked me through this process:
Log into My T-Mobile Account
Go to "Connect and Share"
Click on "configure email"
Then, click on "Change My Phone's Email Address"
I put in something obscure so I won't have this problem again.
Finally, for a little extra protection, you can also click on "email filters" and press yes to "Block all messages from E-Mail to handset"
Hope this helps out!

On 8-29-2009 at 1:24pm I received the following message:: 401@tmomail.net Message from Foothills Account has been restricted for Reactivation Call 877-874-2070.
But I have also recieved messages from 877-549-3563, 877-847-4003, 877-801-7433, 877-671-7185, 866-363-3933, 18157682842@inbox.com I have been literally inundated with these types of calls since August. Contacting T-mobile can not accommodate my services on my cell as use the text messaging and pictures in my line of work.
I think that these sons of Britches should be trapped and caught in their own little tangled web of deceit. And even at that it would be to good for them
Nipper 2009-09-09 22:19:46 Unknown
T-Mobile will block them for you. Just call
Nipper 2009-09-09 22:17:08 Unknown
I called T-Mobile and had all text messages blocked (pictures etc). If you text you will continue to receive this "CRAP" but since I don't text these scam texts has stop. It's the only way till someone catches them. They are probaly overseas.

foo@tmomail.net (1866-392-5647) Urgent from CU (I went to CU Boulder)
900@tmomail.net (1877-801-7483) Account suspended.
cu720@tmomail.net (1800-915-2785) Credit Union account suspension.
8584300286@read.com (1858-430-0286) New Credit Union message.
sms@tmomail.net (1877-847-4003) Visa "Pending Authorization Notification"
Sometimes I called after a week or so, and the number they listed in the text message no longer available. And I got all these messages within 1 month. How stupid! So sick of these text messages! Everytime they use a different number with a different email (tmomail) address~
Flash 2009-09-01 23:19:15 Unknown
I've received at least 3 texts over the past month or so. All say something about a problem with my "Foothills" account (no idea what that is) and I should call them. How stupid do they think I am?
Pete 2009-09-01 23:18:10 Unknown
I originally got a text message 3 days ago from 7991@tmomail.net saying, "Our records indicated that your FOOTHILLS account is restricted. Contact Us At (800) 932-2209"
And another text a few minutes ago from 719@tmomail.net saying, "We found a problem in your Foothills account. Call urgently at 877-874-2070"
Getting 2 different numbers inspired me to look them up online.
What really pisses me off is that these people costing me extra money since I don't text and therefore don't pay for text message bundles. I don't need this to be a recurring issue.

I got a text from this number saying: Hi. There is a problem with your Credit Union account. Call urgently T 877-874-2070. I don't belong to a credit union. This is the wild part: I got a phone call this morning and a recording said there was fraudulent activity on my credit card to reactivate press 1 to leave press 3. I missed what company they claimed to be calling from so I pushed 3 and nothing happened. BUt when I called the number back (the called id said Ontario) a recording came on that said "Hello to the world"!!??? NONE of this pertains to me or any credit card I have. Such sneaky scammers!
