I got a call from some kind of publishers house who the women clamed had been open for 16 years she was trying to sell me magizens

Rec'd a call from them again today....said that I was entered in a $100k sweepstakes, and also won a $100 giftcard that can be used at Wal-Mart, Target, Olive Garden or Red Lobster.  They asked for my address to mail the giftcard....I provided my house number and street and they rattled off the rest....kind of strange.  Then they said how I was also going to receive all kinds of magazines, but I had to pay for the shipping of $3.90.  When I told them I did not have a credit card on me, she said she gets paid by the hour, so if I wanted to go get it, she would wait until I got back.  I ended up taking her phone number, and punched it in to the internet to see what it showed.....and i see lots of people have rec'd the same call.  When I just called them back, they don't even say their name when they answer the phone, just "can I help you?"....it took two tries, but finally got the lady to say Sweepstakes Entry Center....then I just said I must have the wrong number & hung up on her.

If you've a cell phone, add it to your contacts list, then assign it a no-ring ringtone - won't stop calls but it'll reduce your stress. Or buy a whistle or air horn and blow their ears off. These are criminals and deserve no mercy.

I continue to get harassing phone calls from this number and a person named Virginia. The last call I recieved, she left a messages calling me a "silly, silly, little girl!" I have asked to be taken off of their call list however, they refuse. PLEASE HELP

They gave me the option of a car, 25000 dollars or a trip. I told them I was seventeen. they said thanks for being honest and hung up. they then called and left two more messages. Im going to call the better business bureau.

Don't believe anything from these numbers. I had this number calling me over and over, and they would hang up. Then one day someone was actually on the other line and I told them to leave me alone because I knew it was a scam. They didn't call back, but then a couple weeks later I got a call from a man claiming he was James Johnson from the UPS Headquarters in Seattle, Washington. He said that I had won 2.5 million dollars and had a special carrier to deliver my package. I needed to be home and I needed to wire him money for insurance on the package. Total scam! He was a good talker, but not good enough. He even sent me "documents" showing I had won this money. There was a document from the IRS saying I needed to pay $850 on taxes before I could receive my check. Bogus. Anytime you have to pay to get a prize, you're not winning, you're losing. Anyway, the documents had typos all over it, names of the people who supposedly signed the papers didn't match up to who were really the presidents of the companies and so forth. They try really hard to get your money, but anytime they want you to wire money to someone through Western Union you know it's a scam. Don't fall for it! If you know you haven't entered into a contest, then you haven't just out-of-the-blue won a prize. Glad everyone is being cautious and looking up the numbers. If you get a call from 206-414-2957 and a man claiming to be James Johnson is on the line, hang-up. I've reported him into the FTC, so hopefully they can put a stop on the matter.

Just started getting calls from this number today. Can't find their number online. How do you stop them from calling if you can't find out their information? This is extremely annoying!

yeah they offered me a diamond watch  and subscriptions to a buttload of magazines, something about publishers clearing house too. They call and call, i called back once then hung up. b***s***.

I have gotten 5 calls from this number today and it's not even dinner time yet! I think it may be from doing a stupid Facebook sweepstakes survey, junk!

i have been getting calls from  18778832280 for the past week when i answer they hang up they call like every hour or less when i called the number back geez tells me number unavalible i am getting tired of this i have more important things to do then to listen to a phone call thats nobody is there when you answer.

I got a call from this number early in the morning. I answered and no one was there. exactly 59 minutes later, they called back, and again said nothing. my cell should be on the national do not call list, and i've never put my cell number on the internet. I'm thinking about calling back to tell them that I called the cops and their number is being traced.

I Just got a call from this number like 10 minutes ago. I never answer a number I don't know. If it's important, they'll leave a message. This time they left a message. I checked it, and he says, "Hi, (my name). I have some exciting news about your sweepstakes entry..." tells me to call at a certain time. This was a real guy, he gave me the phone number again to call back. Not sure if I should call back or just leave it.

THEY CALL AND HANG UP AND WHEN I CALL BACK THEY GET NASTY!!! I HATE WHEN THEY GET AHOLD OF MY PHONE NUMBER!!! IT'S IRRITATING AND IT SHOULD BE UNLAWFUL!!! THE DUMB*** MAN REFUSE TO GIVE ME THE COMPANY NAME!!!!

They called me at like 10:30 am tellin me I won 25,000 and they need my credit card number.

REPETITIVE CALLS

I began getting calls from this number after following a few survey screens via facebook and a "$100 Olive Garden Gift Card" offer. Probably should have realized it was an offer too good to be true, but I was tired and didn't think the process through. These same survey screens began an onslaught of spam e-mails.
I delete the emails without reading and I ignore the calls from the 877 number. Eventually (G-d I hope) they will give up and leave me alone.

Called me four times in the last hour (on my cell).

they have called repeatedly, i finally called back from work, they hung up the first time, the second time they stated someone entered me in a pulisher's sweepstakes, when I asked how entered me, she didnt know, she stated if I had ever made a purchase online that is how I got entered.
I have never put my cell phone on the any online form.
I decided to give her the satisfaction of my name and number and said ok and hungup.  I guess i will continue to hit ignore.

this number calls my sister 12 times a day,then when you answer they hang up?

I didn't even pick up the phone....

there is also a 565-232-8989, if i don't pick up or ans, no voicemail, i then get a call within minutes from this number, i picked up once said hello 3 times and nothing now it is every half-hour I am going to *57 them and after 2 calls contact the police, do the do not call reg. contact the comsumer protection agency, call my state and fed senators and FCC.  If these people want to bug me I will let the Gov look into them,  You will then be able to consider a Class Action Lawsuit when they are ID'd. Hopefully, they will be fined, some will go to jail???? and all the nice people who are willing to possibly misrepresent who and what they work for will have to find a job.

does the national do not call list really work?

my dad has just been getting calls from this number started yesterday...
he has already told them he's not interested and already caught them using the SAME NUMBER for a different business name...so he knows its a scam number...

still...if it IS a "business" I've signed his number up to the national DO NOT CALL list, and told him to tell them this...cause if they DO call again, its a $7,000 fine plus being put under a federal microscope...

wow! just trying to take a nap, answered the phone, nice lady asked for my mother, told her she wasnt here asked to take a message, quickly said no ill call back. thats when i reread the text on the caller id, called back, and a man answered. i nicely asked to be taken off the list, he then proceeded to tell me "well this was a survey done through the internet so dont use the internet!" and hung up, i was flyin high called back AGAIN, sounded like a dif man tried to be nice and tell them what just happened and asked how it was possible when my mother does not use the internet. he said it was probably through her use of a credit card. i asked him why he had to be so nasty and he said he wasnt and hung up. wow! funny how this has just ruined my day! why do be people have to be so rude!?
