I came across this thread by accident but felt compelled to leave a post. Yes, collections agencies like Woodsbury, JMC and others use terrible tactics to try to recover money but the bottom line is, you people posting here are the scum bags. These agencies work from lists of information that are provided by the casinos, sportsbooks and poker sites that you delinquent pieces of s*** have deposited to and then disputed the charges because you simply don't want to pay up. As an employee of a small poker site I know that almost 100% of disputed transactions are deposits from Americans. No other country in the world creates comparable chargebacks when it comes to online gambling, not even within 1% of what Americans charge back. The reason for this is the UIGEA which Americans think they can hide behind because it made it illegal for banks to process transactions to or from online gambling sites (UIGEA did not make online poker illegal for Americans).
What you don't realise is that two wrongs do not make a right. Charging back transactions which you knowingly made in the first place is still illegal even if you knew that it was illegal for your bank to process the transaction. While you may think that you are simply using a loophole within the system to play for free and this is a victimless crime, you are putting hundreds of peoples? jobs at risk by your selfish and criminal behaviour. Luckily for poker sites we are now allowed to report your actions to multiple US based negative data bases and blacklists showing that you have committed fraud with your card. As for the collections agencies, it's nice when they are able to recover some money for us but it gives us much more satisfaction in the online poker world when we destroy some piece of s***'s credit rating. Beware of abusing online poker sites in the future American scum bags because we are able to hit back now and f*** your future spending power and credit rating when you try to scam us.

How can these people collect a debt outside the US using phantom web collection names/devices? they Can't  Please go for the protection we are all afforded thru our local state attorney general offices. Each state has a website directing the complaint process. This protects us from these absolute monsters!  Type in Attorney General and your state on web browser and go to file complaint on the options. Believe me they do listen and WILL Respond! I just heard this from a good friend...

I have been getting from the same person.  The emails are not addressed to me personally, so obviously they are sent in bulk mailings to anyone who ever played online gambling games.  Since the email threatens to mess with my credit, I fowarded the emails to the three major credit bureaus to alert them of the fraud.  I also sent a cease and desist letter to the address in Canada threatening legal action if I ever receive another message from Mr. King or if he reports a collection to the credit bureaus. My letter also informed him that I have notified the credit bureaus in advance.  I copied the letter to the Department of Justice, mail fraud division as well as the equivilant Canadian agency.  I suggest everyone do the same.  As bogus as his charges are, he is absolutley right that once it gets on your credit report it can casue major dammage and is time consuming to correct.  Basically he is an extornionist doing the same thing the mob does, threatening to hurt your if you dont pay.  It is illegal and I hope he rots in jail some day soon

Now they are threatening to turn me into the IRS, for monies that I won, and they paid, which are far less then what they claim I owe!  So even if they did turn me into the IRS I have proof that what I "won" was way less then what I lost!  So its a complete wash anyway.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again...this time trying to recoup chargeback fees.  At least in their latest email they have acknowledged that they can't collect on a "gaming debt".

These guys are jack***es, but I almost paid.  If they don't send you a legit certified letter - then they are not real.  Email does not count as a serve of notice.  They are so lazy they don't even look up your real address to send you something because it can then be traced.  Also that would be mail fraud!

I am very very happy to hear that so many of us are "in the know" of what this a'hole/sociopath is up to.  I have given all documentation to my local San Mateo Police Department and they are investigating ... however, the State of the Art computer system/server/hub they have, paid for by gamblers I suppose ... and the unfortunate ones who actually paid the creep, is well beyond what "poor California" can pay.

I recieved a very nasty and threatning email from the "investigations" from woodbury.com and made threats from here to sunday!  I email once and said we did not authorize any transactions, then they proceeded the threaten via email, I then said I have notified my bank and the police and was advised this was a scam.  My bank gives creditors etc 90 days for them to do whatever they do.  The failed to do so with my bank.  Now for the first time they want to contact me.  Not only that the amounts he gave me so did not match up with the amounts I disputed.  I gave them a cease and desist.

Can't get blood out of a turnip ... guess it's time to file bankruptcy once he serves me .... Since I don't own anything of value and he will be my only debt.  Oh Well, it's just my life .... no big deal.  I can live on the streets in California since this is such a huge welfare state ....

Please note that I am now personally contemplating filing a civil lawsuit against your for libel.  I have read your comments on the Internet making false claims as to my intent (stating that I am acting criminally), calling me a psychopath, and conversing back and forth with another woman strongly implying that I am attempting to steal your money and commit fraud.

Just when I thought the harrassment was over, I got an email on July 5th stating that 'it;s "time to take action" if I don't pay them or set up a payment plan. The emails are now coming from Investigations@Woodsbury.com.  Apparently he decided to not call himself John King, Mitchell Levy or Josh Ferguson due to the fact people can search for those names on the internet and find out they are scams.
