Call from Us Fidelis from Bob Jones. They should know what my personal home number is and they only called my work number and did not have any information except to call this person at this number.

NO ONE can get money out of you, not even an attorney; only the COURT can extract assets from you, and before they can do that, they must have a DOCKET NUMBER which means the collector has brought a suit against you and you will be notified by mail or sheriff of THEM vs.You with the docket number clearly given.
Even if you truly owe a bill, and you know this, why deal with collection agencies?
You really don't have to give them any thought until you receive a docket nimber from the court.
At that time, get an attorney, go to court, bargain for less, pay up and go home.
Chances are that these agencies won't even bother to file a suit and go to court, so stop worrying, don't respond, don't send them any confirmations, and in time they'll give up and stop calling you.
If you truly have VERY BIG debts, and one creditor comes against you, then it's time to file bancrupcy and get them all off you back once and for all. Best of Luck ------ Stay Cool!

I am so fed up with these people!  After continues hangups, I called back, a woman answered and knew who was calling back??  Sounds like Im the only person they are after???  I am definitely file a complaint and charge them with Slander.  This woman kept it up by yelling at me and would not like me talk!

@fed up...appraently you don't pay yours or you wouldn't be here...the issue with these types of companies is that more often then not the bill is paid.  they buy old records from mergered banks, or banks that went under and find a loop hole with fees and such and then go after you for the entire credit limit, or they buy old debt for pennies on the dollar.  i worked for one and the average cost they pay for $1000 debt is $10 to $50, at times $100.  But, they must ID themselves every call or when they leave a message and just so you know, all my bills are paid in full, i have a recod of everything, and have sent them all of this and they still tried calling, saying in review of my records they saw fees that should be paid.  they are not legit and are harrassing.  so, take your dead beat a$$ and go somewhere else...most of these companies are like you, cowrads that hide behind a phone or PC screen scamming people or harrassing them.

Unbelievable!  They have the audacity to call me with a machine, but when I transfer them to my prerecorded response to collection calls, they don't have the decency to stay on the line long enough to listen!

Okay folks, here is what you do.
Go to google and type in consumer protection for you state, each state has different laws.
In Texas, I can tell you, that they can try, but after 4 years if a debt hasn't been collected, it's dead, they cannot take you to court.
They cannot call you at work, they cannot call your neighbors, they cannot discuss your business with anyone.
To get them to stop calling, invest $5 and send  them a CERTIFIED, RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED letter telling them to CEASE AND DESIST ALL COMMUNICATION. This usually does it, they will give up or sell you to another company in a few months. If they persist, check in your state for an atty who specializes in harrassment suits against collection agencies, make sure the atty works on a contingency basis.

I had to do a little work, use an answering machine and get a tape recorder, but it was worth it.
They called me every hour on the hour and it wasn't even my debt.
It doesn't matter if you owe it or not, they are not allowed to harrass you.
I had some idiot call one day and tell me I owed $5,000.00 from 1996 (I didn't) and when I asked who it was that I was supposed to owe, he couldn't tell me. I guess he thought I was just going to write him out a check.lol
When they call you, they are supposed to send you a backup letter within 30 days, I never got one, so, I know it was some scam, they do have people out there doing that.
Each time they call you, write down the time and date and the person calling, even if it's a recording, write it down, if you sue, this is very important.
Most importantly, don't let them intimidate you, arm yourself with the laws in your state and read it off to them if you have to.
They don't waste their time with informed people.

Here's another idea....call them with your mute button on and just sit there. Do this frequently. It's payback time for people with no common sense!!!

I have explained to them that they have the wrong phone # and suggested they do a reverse lookup on my phone # to see who it belongs to.....but they're just not smart or skilled enough to do so. I make sure my bills are paid and have a stellar credit rating so it will be my pleasure to harass them right back!
