I receive about 3 calls a day from this number.  Yes my payment is late and I am working on it.  However, they are calling me on my cell phone and at my place of work multiple times a day.  It's overwhelming.

Best to deal with them, give them limit info to establish proof.. Hanging up just keeps your number in their system, and the good ones will be nice the rude ones will be that...RUDE, but this is why you get their info, phone number, company name and the caller's name, id number in case you have to call back and file a complaint, that person won't want that... it can effects their pay check...like being fired..!

Yes I have, and my spouse actually worked for the company that was calling from although was not at work that day. When you get a new number and the previous person was in a collection company they have a system (can't remember what its called) that notifies them if that number becomes active again, even after years of not being used. So your best bet is to just deal with them, give them the few information they regard to prove you are not the old debtor they are looking for. Once you ease their mind and they MUST stop calling and remove your number from their system. Always make sure to get their name and info if they do not give last name they must have a number (like ID number) so you can use this to lodge a complaint with the company. They don't always follow their own rules and regulations so getting this info to provide to the company boss if the caller doesn't remove your number from the calling list and calls persist.

This phone number 877-901-8795 (Spokeo.com) called last night and asked for a "Daryl Hickey", someone who does not have our phone number, even though he shares our last name.  I told them there was no-one by that name and they wanted to know if we had had our phone number for a long times.  I said "yes".  This morning they called again and woke us up asking for the same person, Daryl Hickey, and AGAIN asked how long we had had our phone number.  I do NOT want to be pestered by thjese people anymore.

I have gotten 4 calls from them today alone, when I answer it hangs up. I cancelled my account months ago because no matter how far ahead of the due date I paid the paid bill, the money was never on the account till after the due date so I was always charged a late fee! Never dealing with them again and I am still paying of my bill on time and yet they still do it.

Get calls from them all the time. I do have a loan with them and they had all my info by me giving my phone number. They said they were going to put something in the notes and then I went into my local branch and there was nothing in the notes and nothing about anyone calling me..

It is not always our fault! I have been getting up to 10 calls DAILY from these idiots. I had a family emergency (spent the weekend in the hospital with my father) and paid my bills 3 days late because I was not near a bank/computer. I called every company when I got home and explained the situation as well as the fact that the bill was now paid. More than a month (and another on-time payment) later I am still being harassed by only one company. I have every reason to ignore them. If it was so important for them to contact me they would leave a message and number for me to get back to them, when I don't have a screaming child on my hip!

Attn:  Mama ^^^ - these are Scammers trying to STEAL your credit card, banking, SS info, and will harass you and your family, friends and neighbors.  You need to quit preaching and do your research.  Just because a stranger calls and says someone owes a debt does not mean it is legit.   Look at You Tube under Fraudulent Debt Collectors, Debt collection scams, etc.  Look at the FBI Internet Crimes website and bulletins posted by the Attorney General.   You are very likely to be a victim if you do not do your homework!

I've been called by 1-877-901-8795 five times in the last 6 hours. I also do not owe anyone money and when I pick up they ask for someone I have never heard of. Where do I go to report something like this? This is just ridiculous!

Maybe if we all paid our bills on time and make payment arrangements when we cant make a full payment, the calls would stop coming in at all hours. Its our fault in the end! You'd call looking for your money too if someone decided not to pay you back and not to answer the phone. Pay the bills!

We're called 4 times a day by Capital One and this has been going on THIS TIME for over the last 2 weeks. Since the first call comes regularly at dawn, we've blocked the number so it just rings ONCE each time.

We have NEVER had any Capital One Credit Cards so these calls are unwarranted as we have no debts with them. We've had this phone number for 18 months so we assume a previous holder is the person they want.

The Canadian Do Not Call registry only prevents telemarketers from calling, not dunning bill collectors with an autodialler and an invalid phone number.

Has anyone, in a similar situation, managed to stop these phone calls? and HOW?

It's not a private cell phone number anymore.  You've put it out there for the whole world to see and if it was unlisted - it ain't anymore.   If you want privacy -don't put your damn phone number on the net.   Web crawlers dig into every public website looking for phone numbers and email addresses that they add to spam lists.  Good luck.

These goons have phoned my number 8 times over a period of less than 36 hours from the number above and 1-905-943-2344 and 1-877-943-1535  I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.  I am debt-free.  I don't owe anyone anything.  I've had my number for a little over a year and have had numerous calls from debt collectors for Stephanie.  I don't know who Stephanie is and I've told a number of them that.  Debt collectors are not supposed to call more than 3 times a week so they are breaking the law.

I dealt with Capital One when my HBC account was sold to them.  I hadn't used my card in a long time so I closed the account. Then I got a nasty letter from them saying "we will be reporting your account to the major credit reporting agencies" and "your current account balance is $ 0.00" and "your past due balance is $0.00".  Are these idiots trying to collect $0.00 from me?

I have been recieving numerous calls daily starting as early as 8 a.m right up to 8:30pm, and as many as 3-4 calls daily, and they do not leave a message on the answering machine. This has been going on now for the last 2 months! I called that number back, and they answered and identified themself as Capital One Mastercard and immediately asked me for my card number. I did not give my number to them, hung up, and called the REAL Capital One Mastercard number (thats on the back of my card) 1-800-481-3239 and asked them if they could tell me if the number that keeps calling, is in fact Capital One, and informed them of the repeated calls from 877-901-8795 who identify themself as Capital One Mastercard and asked me for my card number over the phone. She looked into it and stated NO it is not Master Card, and stated she would forward that number over to security and have it investigated é fraud department. NEVER give your card number to anyone who calls you. Call the original business yourself. I really feel for victims of crime and despise criminals who are behind this scam! I have also forwarded this information onto the appropriate authoirities to look into.

Another reason I block them. If I don't, they interrupt my work, make me wait if I answer and fill my answering with empty messages if I don't.

Im pretty sure it's Capital One, yet I block these calls. I call them on my terms to ensure they are who I think they are.

It's appalling how aggressive and rude these people are. I have never been so chastized by other companies I deal with. Even after trying to notify them of making a late payment three times on a Friday afternoon when no human was available to record it, they still relentlessly call and try to shame me on the phone for three days after and promise to continue to until the transaction goes through.

I'm pretty sure they have it backwards. You see Capital One, I pay YOU. It is YOU who should be available for ME at my will, not the other way around.

Best of all, I love getting fincancial advice from a soon-to-be burger flipper working in their call center.

this just happened where someone from this number called my husbands place of work.We got notification from his secretary and she didnt even confirm to them that he works there. She said they have called many time asking about random people that really dont work there, just happened that when they said his name he actually does! She said they tried bullying her for his personal information and she reported it.He btw is only a secondary cardholder.I contacted Capital One myself and it is my belief now that the people who are making these calls are actually just posing as Capital One. Scammers!

Our employees are not allowed any personal calls, unless it is a family emergency.  You @ Capital one are not an emergency.  We do not care if one of our employees owes your company funds.  It is not our issue.  We will not forward any calls.  Aain, we do not care.  We only care that you are occupying our lines of business.  Our business - not yours.

These pigs have hounded my elderly, handicapped father for weeks and weeks with 12 - 18 calls a day from various lines all connected to Capital One.  He is now in hospital.  Hope you ppl can sleep at night.! Disgusting!

Furthermore, my father has never had a credit card in his life.  You better hope and pray that my father does not pass any time soon!

Every debtor has an obligation to repay the debt that is owed and to make whatever arrangements are necessary. Ignore is not a good idea for any situation.  However if you are overwhelmed seek a credit advice.

On the other side these are the rules and regulations set out by the Government of Canada:

collection agencies are only permitted to call a debtor three times in a seven-day period, including voice messages. Calls may be placed to a debtor between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday

Read more: Collection Agency Rules in Canada | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/list_6606409_collection-a ... l#ixzz1UqZTcV2D

If they are calling you constantly every day then they are in violation and can be severely punished by law and or heavy fines.

Hope this helps and if you are not a debtor to Capital One you have the right to sue for unnecessary harassment.Caller: Capital One Direct
