Haha sorry but like I said in an earlier post, this company is contracted by TW as well as Cox. Sales reps get moved around a lot and a person who was recently on a TW campaign may say TW by accident. You often get moved in the middle of your work day so switching gears can be hard.

The reason this happens is because the person calling you has no idea if or how many times you have been called. the number recycles in a dialer and may pop up on any sales reps computer. Very occasionally, it may show up on the same computer and if the name is recognized, it is skipped. Problem with that is that it recycles again. To deal with that, we have to dial it but we then would hang up right away. This is the only way to take us to the screen to mark the number. We cannot mark it as DNC without going through the process so we lie and choose something else that would at least give you a break for a while.

Also for those asking to leave a message; federal law prohibits telemarketers from leaving messages. this is another reason why the caller says nothing at first. Some phones go straight to voice mail with no greeting and the beep is often not hear.

There's is a delay on the system they call out of. It's a Voice Over IP dialed out of a computer. When you answer and say hello, the person calling does not hear that first hello. This is why they frequently say hello back to you as it takes a few seconds to realize the phone has stopped ringing. It's really annoying on both ends.

Hey everyone. First let me say, this isn't a scam. I know because I worked for this company. This company is contracted by Cox, Time Warner, Suddenlink, Shentel and several others. It is legit. Most cable companies hire third parties for their promotions as your local offices are not designed to call several hundred thousand customers.

If you want the calls to stop, firstly, don't just hang up. Doing so puts your number right back in the dialer. The national DNC has loopholes so you must be aware of that. When you sing up for Cox, Time Warner or any other cable company, you agree to allow them to share your number. What you need to do it tell them to put you on their do not call list. Again, don't just hang up. Hang ups always results in the number being recycled. Same with not answering. Once you ask them to do that, please listen to the DNC script that they read. Only after that is finished AND they say thanks for calling please call blah blah blah can you be placed on the list. Both of these are federal laws that have to be read to you. Your number cannot be placed on the list unless you go through this process for reasons I don't understand.

This company does have it's benefits if chosen to do business but the clients require a certain number of calls be made.

Number called and left a voice mail saying it was Time Warner cable.  They're not even in our area and I've never had TW cable so no idea if this is real or fake.

You are the one who sounds silly.  It IS a sales pitch.  I recieved the call and they tried to pitch me on cable service.  I only have internet with Cox now.
Now for everyone else in my same situation....there is no way to stop the calls without them taking you off their list since they can call me as much as they want due to the fact I have business with them (internet).

If you already have service with them then they are not breaking the law, as you already do business with them.  They have every right to call you.

They may ignore your no-call-list status and call you if you do business with them.  But by law, they must stop calling (for marketing purposes) if you request it directly of them.

This is Cox Communications. They did not leave a VM so I called back. The person at the other end was courteous. They had a new promotion for their existing customers (3 months of free Internet speed upgrade), which I did not want. They thanked me for the time and that's it. They are just doing a job.

I have also been receiving these calls daily. I do have cox and do not believe this is truly a cox call. When cox xalls, they leave messages regardless of the reason for the call whether it's an offer, a heads up about a bill, or a follow up to a visit to a store. Don't give these scammers any info.

This is Cox communications trying to upsell internet users on a promotional TV package. I missed their call twice and they didn't leave a voicemail. I called the number back and spoke to a rep, who agreed to add my number to their internal do-not-call list.

I'm so sick of getting calls every day from this number, sometimes multiple times a day, for the past several months... One would think that if someone doesn't your calls for MONTHS that you would remove that number from your list. If it's Cox, leave me a message so I know you aren't a scammer. I have all my bills drafted, so there's no way it could be because of an over due amount. Really wish I could block the number!

I received a call from this number.  They didn't leave a message.  I called it back and got a computer generated "Thank you for calling Cox Communications".

I had already asked them to remove my number from their system and they still call!

I believe that if you are a customer of Cox, they may call you to offer you additional services or promotions without violating the law.

I have instructed Cox Communications, on numerous times, to stop calling me and they have said they'd put my number on their "do not call list", but they still keep calling. I am sure many other people are in the same situation as me and you need to press charges against Cox Communications, or at least warn them. I have also contacted their corporate office to provide the same instruction and got the "okay, you're number is being taken off the call list, but wait 30 days to take effect." It has been over 30 days and the calls still keep coming in.

This is a sales call and they are breaking federal laws. I have now told them they will be sued if any further calls are made to me. The law provides $1,000 per call penalty.

I do work for Cox Cable. Any time that the account is past due we will give you a call. But it would not be to ask if you have our service. I have had a couple of customers call in, and they have not been past due. I will report this number, and I will see if I can get anything out of it. Thank you

I don't know what this is, but I do know that I DO NOT owe Cox any money. I just checked my account balance on line and it's $0.00. Because I paid my bill last week.

...and haven't been for 7 years.  Don't owe them any money, either.  And I, too, am getting called regularly from this number.  So much for your "courtesy call" theory!  Don't know that it's a scam.  Don't know what it is.  If I don't recognize a number that's calling me, I don't answer it.  If they have something important to say to me they'll leave a message.  If they don't leave a message, then by definition they didn't have anything important to say.

I wasn't making a guess when I said it was a call about a past due bill.  They may be calling for other reasons, but it's definitely Cox Communications, because I spoke to them and when I paid my bill over the phone, and then logged into my account immediately after the call, my account balance was already updated (in about two minute's time).  Scammers aren't going to pay your bill for you.  Be suspicious if you like, but the fact that my billing information was instantly updated is proof enough for me that this is a legit Cox Communications call.
