Female caller with indeterminate accent (middle east?) identified themselves as employee of Commonwealth of Massachusetts business development and began call with confirmation of published business address.  I repeatedly asked if they are an employee of the state of Mass. and she repeatedly said yes, and when I asked for her employee identification number with the Commonwealth of Mass, she instantly hung up on me.

Total scam artists that sell lists to moving companies and others trying to scam their way into eliciting confidential information about business.   AVOID LIKE PLAGUE-HANG UP OR DO NOT ANSWER CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER

This is a hazardous call for the receiver of the call.  Area code/country code 882 followed by 013 may be from Spain.  Or, it may be from a "non-geographic-oriented," voice-over-internet-protocol (VOIP) service (used anywhere in the world).  It is possible that the call originates from a country, or service, that charges outrageous per-minute fees.  Even if the caller sounds like they are from India, they may still be calling from somewhere else.

This number kept calling so I answered.  They identified themselves as calling from the City of Edmonton. They verified my business name then asked if I was still looking to relocate or have I found a place.  I said I had no idea what she was talking about and she hung up.  

Called AGAIN, sounds like they're having a freaking party in the background, so loud. I think this is the point where I start getting rude as hell because they call every like 3 days. So ANNOYING.

Called and said that she was calling from the Illinois Department of Business Development and wanted to know if our company was still looking for office space or if we had found something. One of my employees handed me the call. I told her that we have not been looking for a new office space and that I did not believe that she worked for the State of Illinois and she hung up. Sounded like a young to middle-aged woman with a foreign accent (Caribbean?).

Two yesterday, one so far today. Claims to be "State of Georgia Business Development Office." Number is visible but name is showing on Caller ID as "Unavailable." In fact the one I just got was the same guy as yesterday afternoon, when I said to STOP CALLING US. I get several a week from them. I have repeatedly told them to put us on their Do Not Call list; I've said if they want to verify our address they can google it. Doesn't matter, they keep calling. Next time I'm just going to start hanging up the second I hear them talk, as I do with "the copier company" who wants to check on our machine's serial number.

The women with heavy accent and loud background noise contacted us and identified herself as Tina from the State of Texas Business Economic office asking if we found a location to move to or we still looking.  I asked her for call back information, she replied "Ms. Tina Collins from the State of Texas Business office at 281.325.8000". I replied I'm not aware of a move then she hung up.  I'm not sure how they can claim they're calling from an "official" state government office when obiviously they're misrepresenting themselves and the nature of the call.

I got a gentleman caller this time, accent (Indian?) and he asked me if we were still at our address, I said that was correct (I never say "yes" to anyone calling I don't know so they can't splice the call into something), then continued on with the usual blah blah blah moving? blah blah, told him "we're not moving, we haven't moved and will never move" he then thanked me and told me to have a nice day and hungup.. breath of fresh air from the evil b**** that usually calls. Still, why keep calling, my answer is not going to change, I've made a spreadsheet to actually catalog all my scammy b.s. calls and they are now on that list indefinitely! Blah alkfjlaskjfl;asfjlaskfj laskfj fracking leave me alone! Like I'm not busy enough.

Same thing happened to me in CA. The woman speaking with Indian accent called me identifying herself as State of CA, business development department and asked me if I looking for a location to move into. When I answered no, she thanked me and hanged up.

Called, said they were with the State of Georgia Business Development Office.  "George Bain?"  I said, "let me look you up."  He hung up.

They called me this morning claiming to be from the State of Illinois Buisiness whatever. They were asking if I was planning on moving next year. I said I have no plans at the moment. I knew it was fishy when a woman who CLEARLY doesn't speak english well is calling people on behalf of the state of Illinois. Nonsense.

I got a call from this number.  The woman claimed to be with the Missouri State Office of Business Development and wanted to know if my business was actually at the business address that she named, or were we still looking.  I said we were and the line went dead.  When I the line went dead, I was puzzled by the call, because state offices in Jefferson City have a 573 area code.

This is the second time I've received an outsourced call center call from the"state of New Jersey" business dev center. Asking if we have found a new place to move our office. Why? Why? Why?

I told him we aren't moving and he hung up.

Gave name as Haley Williams. Asked same quesitons as described above. Definitely a phishing scam. Should be reported and stopped!

just called my office and called me a C*** when I said there is no such office as the canadian development office...got to love telemarketers!

Received continous calls from a Christina who is a 'manager' there. I asked for her to mail us something from the State of Texas to verify their information. She calls about every other day. I have asked to place us on the do not call list, she says since she is from the State of Texas, they cant do that. I just hung up on her after awhile, she never got the hint.

Talk dirty to them. Maybe that will stop them.
What is the scam anyway? They want to know if you have found a new location you tell them you are not moving and then they hang up. What do they get out of it. Are they recording your voice for later use? Are they trying to find a business that actually is moving..?...And then what?

What the hell! Just talk as dirty to them as you can. Close your office door and go to town. Let them have it. After all they are calling you and harassing you, and me. Let me know how it goes.

A woman called me saying she was from the State of California - which I knew was probably not so. She was asking if we have found a new space, if we were thinking about moving, etc. I started to tell her that she should stop trying to scam people and get a legitimate job. She hung up.

called again this morning.

They call me daily!  I've asked nicely to be removed from their list, I've asked sternly, I've demanded, I've yelled, I've asked to speak to a supervisor. THIS IS DAILY, and sometimes HOURLY!!! THIS IS HARASSMENT!!!!!!  You cannot call the number back, and there is no information anywhere on this number.

Just got this phone call so thank you all for your posts.  Her accent was so thick that I couldn't understand who she said she was representing.  When I said that, she hung up.

This woman called, identified herself as "Judy" from California Business Development asking if we've made a decision about an upcoming move. I said, "we have no intention of moving" - So she HUNG UP on me! I'm blocking this number now!

They called again today... new tactic. They asked for our Managing Partner by name. I asked who the caller was (even though I knew since I've basically memorized the number by now). He said his name was Dwayne Dixon calling from the CA Business Office. I asked why he was calling. Told me they wanted to send a "change of address form" since we are going to be moving soon.

I told him we were not moving and hung up.

Heavy accent man saying his name is "Jodi" and calling with the Texas Business Development office; asking how im doing today...I went *click*...they keep calling from other numbers.  They wont stop calling.

Got a call saying they were from the canadian evolving business Network or something...

Got 2 call from them. first they called saying they where from the Quebec government... and they where speaking English , our government speak french i was like wtf? we hung hup.

FRAUD SCAM FISHING.

We get calls from this number constantly. At least 2x a week. Always the same number, but they have told me they are from the Business Development Office of at least 6 different states. Every time they ask if we have found a location to move to, when we are moving, how many people are in our office, etc. So Annoying. Next time I am going to tell them that impersonating a government office is a criminal offense and that I am reporting them. Maybe that will get them to stop calling.
