My husband received a call from a man named Eric James phone number 800-200-9171. The calls were made to his work site phonenumer, as well as the corporate office. The man said he was going to have papers served to my husband at his work and needed to verify the address. He clled me ver upset and asked me to please call this man back because he could get fired if he was seved legal papers at his place of employment.  I called the number back and thye phone is answered by  an automatd system stating to please hold while your call is being transferred; then, please begin recording after the beep.  I left a detailed message, and also indicated  that I need some documentation showing this particular debt.  I'm anxious to see wha  happens next.  This is the third time in 6 weeks this has happened to my husband at work.  All three different numbers, stating different debts and stating that he was about to  be served papers at work if he doesnt pay the debt.  Who do I report these scams to? The BBB?

Had my lawyer call Eric James back and they didn't want any papers faxed to them they said it was a mistake and that my lawyer did not need to send in any paperwork. It is a scam.

OK so my dear friend txts me again claiming these people called again stating I have multiple felonies for check fraud. She asks why do they keep calling her and can she have their name and address because she wants to get her own attorney involved. They promptly hung up on her. So I called them (2nd time). Again same woman answers "Rollins & Miller." I ask for Eric James (who claimed to be an atty) and the woman says he is just a process server and is out in the field. She asks my phone # and can't seem to find it in system. That's funny bcuz I just called yesterday AND left a voicemail with my name and phone #. She asks me what I want and I tell her I want to know why they are harassing my friend and making false accusations of me. What info does she have to support these claims? She stated I took out a payday loan in Mar2008 and listed my friend and my sister as references. She rattled off my email address, home address (in CA) and my SSN# and told me that I need to settle with them for $1000. I asked her why is she giving conflicting stories to me and my friend? Is she trying to collect a payday loan debt OR did I write bad checks using my friends name like she said yesterday? She then replied " don't try to be a goody-two-shoes with me!" If I didn't pay right now they would continue to call my friend and sis. I informed her that I don't have any payday loan debt, I also had a ch7 BK that was fully discharged in Dec2008 and, by the way, the statute of limitations on any said payday loan debt is 4 years for both CA and TX (where I live now). I informed her that she could go ahead and serve me with whatever legal papers she felt necessary but STOP calling my friend if your business matter is with ME dumb M***F***ers. SHEEESH! Why do they keep contacting my friend if I've made contact with them and they have my name and phone number? They never call me only her and my sis. I tried searching the internet for any "Rollins & Miller and find NADA!  I can't even turn these idiots into the FTC cuz I have no idea who they really are. So frustrating!

I rcvd a frantic text msg from a dear friend of mine claiming she been harrassed numerous times from this guy who claims to be Eric James Atty@Law. He told her there were warrants out for her arrest and she would be served with legal papers at her job bcuz I had committed fraud writing bad checks from Bank of West using her name. First off, I've never written any bad checks under someone else's name NOR have I ever banked with Bank of West. My friend is very upset, so I call the number 888-200-9171 and a woman answers the phone asking me what phone number I'm calling from. As soon as she verified my name and # she began screaming telling me I've committed serious fraud writing checks from Bank of West using my friends name to a company called Midland Financial and they are serving me with legal papers today. She said the client (Midland) is willing to settle with me for $1000 some odd dollars if I pay it right now. I tried feverishly arguing with her but she wouldn't let me get a word in. She kept screaming obscenities calling me and my friend effing liars. I tried asking her Company name even her name and she wouldn't answer me. Just kept screaming away I'm going to jail and I need to pay it now. I was finally able to get in " is this an attempt to collect a debt?" she viciously answered " NO! This is much more serious than that so don't even try that FDCPA b***s*** on me honey!" I got very angry and started yelling back that she needs to provide me with some sort of documentation and to stop harrassing my friend but she told me "NO! I don't have to, I'll just see you in court" and hung up. I have no clue who the woman is or what company she works for or even who Midland Financial is. These are completely false accusations and I don't even know how to prevent them from harrassing my friend or myself. I decided to call the number back bout an hour later hoping to get someone else. I immediately heard loud hold music, then automated voice said "please hold while we transfer your call" then answering machine said " leave your msg at the tone." So I did. I told them I want them to call me back immediately with the proper information I need to identify them and have my attorney serve them with legal papers! Haven't heard back from them yet. WTF??? This has to be so illegal.

Midland Financial is a bank, Midland Credit Management is a debt collector.  These people sound more like that Indian fake debt scam.  Nobody has mentioned an accent so this may be a similar domestic scam.

This is a criminal extortion ring operating out of India. ABC News released an investigative report on it in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

In the meantime, you are going to have to do whatever you can to protect yourself. That includes letting them know you are aware they are running a scam and are reporting them to the authorities.

I have recieved two calls (so far) at my place of employment..  I was freaked out by the first one because I didn't write the number down..  Today, I got the number and called back.. Had a similar experience to the ones described above...  Music, recording asking me to leave a message..  Said the firm was Rowling Miller???  I googled it and nothing really came up.. must be bogus because, while I have had problems with debt in the past I don't have anything outstanding now.  They must prey on people that have been legitimately intimidated in the past thinking they will just pay money when threatened..  Not this time..

Recieved the same call today, had a recorded message from Eric James. Called the 888-200-9171 and talked to a very nasty lady named Patty. All the info she had was BS. Don't call this number back and DON'T give them any money!

I got the same prerecorded message from Eric James today and I know I do not have any debts to pay but if he would like to serve me papers bring it on. This is a scam do not respond to them.

This is FRAUD. You call the number and they obliviously cannot verify your personal information because they DO NOT HAVE IT. Legitimate collection calls and letters are ALWAYS sent to address on file. This guy was rude and starting quoting statutes. Told him he was incorrect and he said fine, you'll just be arrested.  Told him in 2 words what I thought he should do, but here is what YOU need to do, not only for your protection, but also because these "organizations" can legally be shut down.

I just received the same call from Eric James 1-888-200-9171 Threatening me They have to be stopped!! I told him to send me the original debt....then he told me they r taking me to court and hung up!

I got the same call, everyone gets in a bind and gets behind on their bills, but to call with threats is absolutely ridiculous and i bet they are in the same boat. It  really does not bother me because i try to ignore the messsage, they leave. If they are going to serve papers just do it and stop recording the same message over and over. the number on my phone was 000 000 0000 come on now, we are not stupid right!

Same as everyone above, got a call on my cell phone from 0000000000, message from Eric James saying he needs to serve me with papers at my place of employment or residency. With questions to call 888-200-9171. The message left was for a Jeffrey Nelson- which is not me, my husband or any relative or anyone I've ever even heard of before. I've had this phone number for 4 years and have never gotten calls for Jeffrey before. I think this is a total scam. Haven't called the number back and from what is written above, don't plan to either.

got a call from 'eric" said he had papers to serve me at home or place of employment gave this number to call back got music and finally an answering machine. So I told them who I was and to call my place of employment then gave them the number of the local police station to call and havent heard back......

I have gotten the same message as everyone else, and of course they have called work also.  I have asked to recieve the information regarding any money I owe but am told that all I can get is a reciept.  I refuse to give my personal information over the phone and they continue to call my home and work.  They have said that they are from Social Services, family members, and even medical workers to try and get me on the phone.  The phone number is a cell phone used in the same are but does not go back to a company.  I have been called every name in the book, and one woman even banged the phone against a desk before she hung up after I said I was going to report them for harrasement.  I have hugh medical debt do to a kidney transplant and a son on dialysis.  I have 2 insurances and still owe more money than I make.  It is not like I went out and bought a car or a house and didn't pay for it and with the way things are today many people have had to do just that because of loosing a job.  We just got the short stick when it comes to health issues.  My husband and I both  work as does both my sons, even on dialysis, we have never had welfare and have tried to pay our bills.  But as with many others the bills are more than we make and we are in debt to our ears.  Then some real piece of work has to harass us over a bill they are not even willing to produce.  I feel like I am being kicked in the stomache when I am down for the count.  I wish I could do something about this kind of harrassement.  Sorry for the ramble everyone...I just feel violated.

Continues to call family members telling them that if they do not assist them in a criminal investigation they will be charged with witholding evidence.  Claims to be Eric James! And that I also left my relatives number as a contact number.

I just got a call from this number today stating that i had to pay $1000 a pay day loan bad check. I asked them the name of the Pay day loan name and gave me a name that I have not heard. I had cleared fro Chapter 7 filing and discarged almost 3 years. I told her about it and he told  me I dont have this information here you have to pay the amount now.
Who is the right person to talk to solve this harrasment?

Same exact thing has been happening to me. The 0# Eric James. Call the 888-200-9171 no one answers. I have been dealing with this for a month. Calls at work and cell phone. Calling General attorney. Grrrrrrr

Just received a phone recording with all 0's.  called the number back and the woman threatened to fax papers to my job.  Said I owed Bank One 1,609.00  when I asked for documents of proof she said if i pay the money she would stay on the phone and THEN email papers.  Come on, that would be very stupid to pay up front.  Anyway, she is very rude and so I told her when the guy comes to serve me papers I will look at them then....of course she hung up the phone.

Yesterday, I posted here stating that I received these same calls form this Eric James. I called the number back and I spoke to a woman by the name of Patti Allen, let me tell u what a nasty freakin bi***, she is she would not give me any info on this payday loan and has for this Eric James supposedly he is some type of a officer that works in the feild. I tried telling her that if u keep calling my number or my job I'm filing harassment charges against you and she told me to go f*** myself and that the police won't do anythin.bout it. She called my sister in-law a c*** because she tried to help me out. I talked to a prosecutor and he told me that what this person is doing is illegal and that if these phone calls persist to go to your local PD and file harassment charges against her.

Well, I have received 6 calls from this "company."  I called them back after the 4th time and now after the 6th time.  Talked to someone who swore at me and her name was supposedly "Mrs. Roberts"
