Mr. Hubbard is an employee of Standley and Associates, LLC (A Telephone bill collector)  who has absolutely no ethics and makes all kinds of threats.  He even left my SSN on a third party voicemail.  I reported him and Standley and Associates to John Suthers office of the Colorado Attorney General's Office.  They refered the complaint to the Colorado Supreme Court on attorney Regulatories who jumped all over it.  Bottom line is Standley and associates do not have any documentation to back up their claims and therefore dropped their case against me.  I suggest that you ,all press them for documentation with complaints to your Attorney General.s Office.  Make them prove that they have a legitimate case against you and when they cannot produce the documents they will be forced to drop their case against you.  Their entire business model relies on their intimidating you and harrassing you into admitting you owe them and paying them.  Once you make payment or admit to the debt then they have you where they want you. . . . other than that, they do not have the documetation needed to win in court should you push them in that direction. . . . . Remember, they have to prove their case. . . . not you.

Had a message left today from a deep joiced male by name of Micheal Hoffman from Stanley and Associates Law Office. Asked that I call him back at 888-203-1833. Tried calling number and got message stating he wasn't available at this time and to leave a message. I hung up and didn't leave a message. Don't know what he wanted, but I owe NO MONEY to any person, card or institution! I might call back sometime just to see what's going on, but it has to be a SCAM! If I call at a later time I will post the outcome.

Received a message from a "Mr. Hubbard with James Standley and Associates" at this number stating it was extremely important I talk to him. Upon calling him back, I was told I had debt with Wells Fargo. I told him I needed to check with Wells Fargo to make sure it was legitimate. He said he understood and he gave me a file number to help me out when I contacted them.

I contacted Wells Fargo, and not only could they find nothing under the file number I was given, but they could find no outstanding debt under my social security number.

I called Mr. Hubbard back and explained this to him and he tried to explain that "you need to call the corporate office, not go to the local branch." When I explained that I had called the corporate office, and even confirmed the phone number, he simply said "then we have it down that you have called Wells Fargo and they say you have no debt. We will move forward." End call.

1-888-203-1833. is the phone number that this so-called "Mr. Hubbert," or what ever, left to call back to. After that, another caller from the same calling number

Seattle WA (12533365205) [BTW, this is NOT a Seattle number!]

. . . called and left a message for a person who has never lived here, and in fact, he left the message after hearing my wife and I answer the phone with our first and last names! How utterly criminal these legalized loan sharks are!!

Well, when I lost my employment over 5 years ago, and had to default on credit cards, I began searching for how to combat banks' loan sharking. What I learned is that ALL credit card banks are committing an unlawful scam! And, moreover, just a few questions asked to every bank lawyer on the witness stand, will get the case and the collection thrown out for its very unlawful perpetration!

Bankers operate outside Constitutional financial law, and it's no wonder that they put nobama into the White House, since he has rubber stamped every measure they can get through Congress to destroy our constitution!

Look out, people.

Just got a voicemail that had exactly the same details as 'Tracy' described already: man with a deep, near-unintelligible voice identifying himself as Mt. Hubbert called, leaving a msg for me by name, saying "don't contact the court without talking to me first" etc. etc.  I looked up the number and found this website. Needless to say I'm not returning his call.

If they keep calling, you can sue them under the TCPA (Do Not Call) and FDCPA laws for harassing a non-debtor:

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

TCPA: What Is It & How Does It Affect You?

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA) does many things - including prohibiting debt collectors from calling your cell phone without your permission. Each unauthorized call could result in the debt collector paying you up to $1,500. Here's some helpful information on the Act and how it might affect you.
What is the TCPA?

The TCPA, which was signed into law in 1991 under the first Bush Administration and codified under 47 U.S.C. 227, prohibits calls using any automatic telephone dialing system or artificial or prerecorded voices to:

?Emergency telephone lines
?Telephone lines of any guest room or patient room at a hospital, health care facility, elderly home or similar establishment
?Telephone numbers assigned to paging services, cellular telephone services, specialized mobile radio services, other radio common carrier services or any service for which the called party is charged for the call
?Any telephone call to a residential telephone line
?Send unauthorized faxes
The only way that a caller won't violate the statute is if express consent has been given - and violations of the TCPA are steep. An unintentional call carries a damage amount of $500; an intentional call carries a damage amount of $1,500. That's per call and regardless of the purpose of the call. In other words, if they call you using an automated dialing system without your consent, they've violated the Act and you are entitled to damages.

How does it affect you?

Most debt collectors use automatic telephone dialing systems to contact debtors. You'll recognize this when you go to pick up the phone and there is a slight hesitation on the other end. In fact, most debt collectors are calling nearly 100 people at a time just waiting for someone to answer. Although many have stopped calling landlines, cell phones are another story. Since more and more people are using cell phones either instead of, or in addition to, traditional landlines, debt collectors are finding their cell phone numbers using skip tracers, calling them and hoping that they don't realize that the TCPA has been violated.

I just got a call on my home phone for a Jeremy Pierce from a person indentifying himself as Mr Hubbard. The man with a very deep voice said he was from Standley & Associates Law Firm and he needed to talk to me, my spouse or my attorney as soon as possible. He also threatened legal action through the county I reside in.

I called back and left a message indicating I was not Jeremy Pierce. This is the 6-7 time in 12 months that I have received a call from someone representing a law firm for a person who does not live at the number they called.

I just got a call from an Unknown number on my cell phone. A man with a very deep voice said he was from Standley & Associates Law Firm and he needed to talk to me or my attorney as soon as possible.
I called back and got a man who would not give me his first name; he told me his name was Mr. Hubbert and he was the only Mr. Hubbert there. He said the debt I owed was a PayPal account from 2006 and I owed over $900.00. The original amount was just over $500.00, but they had tacked on $400.00 in additional charges. When I told him I didn't know what this was and could he send me paperwork outlining what the charges I owed, he said he didn't have any and that I need to call PayPal. When I asked him if he had PayPal's phone number, he told me NO, he doesn't keep his client's phone numbers. He would not give me any pertinent information. WOW what a scam, don't fall for it!!
