I responded to an online AutoTrader to inquire about a vehicle advertised at an unbelievable price by private (not a dealer) seller. When I called, my call was answered by voice mail saying this is Mike, leave me your number and I'll call you back. I left a message with a special forwarding number. About 45 minutes later I received a call from (888) 217-1547 through my forwarding number and let it go to voicemail. When no message was left I returned the call to receive a message saying all representives are busy and to leave my name and phone number. I didn't of course. Afterwords I notified AutoTrader of the possibly fraudulent ad and added a block for the number to my forwarding service.

I have been dealing with the death of my father since Sunday and have been extremely stressed getting the details sorted out with that when I get home at 11 pm last evening I had 9 calls in a row from them while I was out yesterday!!! No message left or anything.  I am on the "do not call list" but some of these companies get away with doing it anyway.  I really wish there was a way we could do a class action suit against these companies to show them that we are really sick of it...the problem is we can't get the information from them when and if you get to talk to them.  I just really dont want to have to deal with this right now :(

I think they want you to call them and leave your name and number to get around the do not call list. They have been calling me for a couple of days now but at least I know they are telemarketers now. The best way to deal with these people is to talk to them like you are interested in their product and waste their time. When it comes time to give them an address curse them out and tell them to get a real job or just hang up.

If they are calling your cell, Save that 888 number to your phone and asign a silent ring tone. this way when they call you will just miss the call... It works for me. If its a house phone, ????

Received call, pressed key for transfer to agent.  When asked "To whom am I speaking, agent responded with "the supervisor."  When asked for a name, "Darlene."
When asked name of company, replied
- "This one right here."
"And what's the company called?"
- "'This One Right Here'"
"The company is called 'This One Right Here.'"
- "This one right here?"
"Yes.  The company you represent is called..."
- "This One Right Here."
"Is this an Abbot and Costello routine?"
- "Is this a what?"
"Forget it.  Don't call me again."

I wonder if this Financial Solutions is actually authorized to say anything about credit cards. Still think they are a phisher trying gather information so they can steal another identity.

As for ken wanting to return the favor (with the automatic dialer) as a individual it would be considered harassment to flood a phisher's phone lines.   But it's okay for them to do the same to individuals because they pretend to be outside of the United States so the laws don't apply to them.  That's -Bumblebee -Soup, their corporate office is listed as being in the United States.  Seems the laws often protect the scammers, spammers, phishers because of their telemarketing lobbying.

Jenny - you hit a sore spot for them, they don't like the truth.

"Caller Type" that's really a good question.  The way the call came in it sounded more like a telemarketing call.  Watch them start calling as a survey so they don't have to abide by the standard telemarketing rules.

Same story, company was Financial Solutions, asked to be taken off their list and the b*****d yelled "no" and hung up on me. I called the number about fifty times and just got their answering service, but at least I am costing them money. Looking into an automatic dialer system that I can plug my computer into and just flood their lines.

I just got a call from these people and wanted to know who they were so I transferred to a rep. I actually forgot the name of the company, because after they revealed they were a debt refinancing company I said "so you are spamming people then"?

I don't need any debt refinancing. So this was a cold call.

The guy thought I said scamming, and got hostile really quickly. Before I could correct him he said "suck an a***ole bi***" and hung up.

Doesn't sound like he is having a good time at his job.

Financial Solutions is a scam company that poses as a modifications company....they tell people they are charging fees to modify their mortgage and send you a contract you must fill out with a check for 2500 dollars....then they tell you you do not qualify for a modification due to your credit score....FYI a lender does not pull credit for a loan mod! When I reviewed the contract it said nothing about a modification just a consulting service....Look them up in scam reports....they're all over the internet.

They called with the message saying that it was about my credit card (which we don't have), as above. I pressed one to request that we be taken off their list. The person who answered said it was Teresa, and when I asked that they take me off their list, she just hung up. I tried to call back, but got their answering service, asking me to leave my name and phone number.

Same experience.  "Do not be alarmed...your credit card..." etc., etc.  When I pressed one as requested, the person who answered did not identify themselves, so I asked "Who am I talking to?"  The answer was "That's not the way to start this conversation," and they hung up.  Obviously a scam.  I checked all accounts, and all was well.  Don't fall for this phishing expedition.
