Called, automated call, and claimed to be VISA fraud protection, but gave do data, and asked for none.  Pointless phone call, if it was a business.
Very short call.

Received call from 888-222-5056 said was Visa Protection Center, Colonial Bank.  I had made an online purchase from Walmart just 15 minutes before they called.  They had that charge and 2 = $1 charges about the same time.
This was a payment processing center in California.  She said that they would not be debited from my account.  The $1 charges did not transfer to my checking from Pending. I wonder if Colonial Bank transactions are heing monitored because of the take over by BBT.

After I reported this to Colonial, this is the response that I got
"The 888-222-5056 phone # is the actual # to VISAs Fraud Prevention and we partner with them to monitor check card activity.  That is a legitimate call.  If you call that # it will be an automated system asking you to enter your 16 digit card #, mailing zip code and last 4 of your SSN.  It will then tell you the transaction that was flagged as suspicious and ask you to press 1 to validate the transaction is legitimate, 2 if not, etc.   Our customer get this type call when a transaction ?scores? as suspicious in VISAs monitoring and they have opened a case."

I'm not too sure about this. Visa Fraud Protection Agency. They called me yesterday during dinner time and today just a few minutes ago. They left a message yesterday but not today. They addressed me by my first and MIDDLE name only, but they gave the last four digits of my debit card correctly.

On June 9th, 2009 I received two phone calls from 1-888-222-5056 Colonial Bank Visa Protection Center??? (or say it said)stating three possible fraudgelent charges on my account.I was confused becuase they knew a few charges that I made which was not fraudgelent. So I hung up with them and called my branch (bank) and they were just as confused. Stating they didn't know about any fraud charges to my account or the Visa Protection Center. Me and my branch was so confused and on alert that we closed that account. What I need to know is, was this a set up to get my card information or was it legit? Any comments would be great. Thanks!
