Got the same message; clearly a scam.  Probably found something with the card number but don't have the security code.  Called bank to put freeze on card just in case they try to use info another way.

I got the same text message from 888-227-5019....I also have Sprint, I think it has something to do with Sprint users, I have been getting weird text messages lately.  Do you think Sprint sells our phone numbers or somehow someone got access to them.  If I get another weird text message, I'm calling sprint!

I received that text this morning as well. I didn't know what it was and I never put my SS# online until recently. I also have sprint and only spot that I would remotely have my phone number on the net is Facebook. Although, mine is set to private.

I am glad that I was able to find this info online, I got it twice today the same similar texts everyone on here is receiving.

So far i've received 2 of those texts.

My number is on facebook
I am with sprint
I have a chase visa card

I called up chase directly, and they said that they were not responsible for the message, and that other card holders were calling about the same thing.

Got the same message as many above earlier today, tried calling that 888 number from a work phone (since the caller ID that goes only to a menu) as the message seemed odd.  Judging from the name it said it was from "department@visacards.com" it looks like a phishing scam.

It appears that number is now not in service, or at least it wasn't earlier.

Also on Sprint service, phone number not published on facebook.

I am also on Sprint.  I did sign up for Facebook mobile with my number, but did not use it.  I also just deleted it from Facebook.  I do not have my number as part of my profile on Facebook though.

Maybe it's a Sprint thing???

Same as everyone above. I'm on Sprint. Just curious, does anyone else have their phone number posted on Facebook? That's the only semi-public location anywhere online I have mine so perhaps it's a data miner that has somehow run through there? Maybe online orders through an Amazon account or something?

Received same text as described above.  How did they get our numbers?  I am using the Sprint Service and receive the free sprint messages.  I also just purchased online from ebay but did not use my cellphone as a contact.

I just got the same text today.

I thought it might be real message from my credit card company since I just put a $600 deposit down on a vacation rental.

It sounded fishy enough that I decided to do a quick Google search first. Glad I caught this post - thanks!

I figured if it was a real threat, they would have called me on my primary phone number as well.

then the call just ended.

I was suspicious about what I had just done...given the last 6 digits of this account number, and what I thought could possibly be my ATM pin number. I'm not even sure if it was my correct PIN number, because I never use my credit card for cash from ATMs.

I called the number on the back of my card and spoke with a representative who informed me that they didn't send the above text message to my phone. She informed me that the card number would be closed and a new one issued, to be safe.
