Prank Call
I got a call yesterday and the caller states that I will receive a court summons the next day and I need to be home.  I got really angry at her and told her I did not appreciate her BS and this stupid prank.  She was evasive but did not like my tone of voice as I got very angry with her.  My husband took over and was told that if we wanted more info. re. the legal document or court action, to call the 888 number.  I called the police and a woman in the fraud unit called the caller back and got no answer.  The police looked it up and said that it was fraud and not to give out any info or pick up the call.  The caller tried to call me a couple of times and I did not answer.  She is probably pissed because I called the police and the police caller id showed up on the scam artist's phone.  The number is 727-362-6780.

This scam company called my step mother in law and wanted to have her give my husband's phone number so they could  make sure he got some court documents about a hearing.  He had to be home the next day for them to be delivered.  She called me and I told her not to give out our number again.  Strangely, they called her niece's phone number.  I have no idea how they got that!  That scares me.  Somehow, they were able to hack into her phone and get that number.  The niece isn't even related to my husband!   They called me and I basically told them if they were reputable, my husband would have been presented the court documents in the normal fashion. We don't have any bills that would require any court action!  He had a pay day loan years ago and that company had been hacked into and private information stolen and sold to these scam companies.  I had a bad experience in the past in this same fashion.  Every once in a while, I get another one.  When I do, I just start  screaming and calling them all sorts of horrible names!  I know it sounds juvenile, but it works!  They stop calling. Not much else seems to work.  The Attorney General's office doesn't do anything, probably because the phone numbers are in a different state,  I really don't know for sure.  These scum are worthless and if I can harrass them like they have harrassed me, so much the better

These jerks called my sisters home saying they had some sort of summons for pay day loans that were filed in a bankruptcy over 7 years ago. They asked for my social and when I refused and started questioning them they hung up on me. This is the second time they either called my sister or mothers home and they won't stop although they asked them not to call anymore. They get your information off the internet and start using it to contact you...Please be aware

I just recieved a call from that number that didnt leave a message. I read about what and who they are on here.  This is what I learned about the law in Fl were they are located. Here is what they have to say: A debt collector is required to send you a written notice within five days after you are first contacted, telling you the amount of money you owe. The notice must also specify the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money and what action you should take if you believe you do not owe the money.

You may stop a collector from contacting you by writing a letter to the agency telling them to stop. Once the agency receives your letter, they may not contact you again except to say there will be no further contact, or to notify you if the debt collector or the creditor intends to take some specific action.

If you do not believe you owe the debt, you may write to the collection agency within 30 days after you are first contacted, saying you don't owe the money. The agency may not contact you after that unless you are sent proof of the debt, such as a copy of the bill.

A debt collector may not harass or abuse anyone. For instance, a collector may not use threats of violence against the person, property or reputation; use obscene or profane language; advertise the debt; or repeatedly or continuously make telephone calls with the intent to harass or abuse the person at the called number. In addition, debt collectors are required to accurately disclose their identities to the person at the called number.

A debt collector may not use false statements, such as falsely implying that they are attorneys, that you have committed a crime, or that they operate or work for a credit bureau or misrepresenting the amount of your debt, the involvement of an attorney in collecting a debt, or indicating that papers sent to you are legal forms when they are not. Debt collectors may not tell you that you will be arrested if you do not pay; that they will seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless the collection agency or creditor intends to do so and has a legal right to do so; or that a lawsuit will be filed against you, when they have no legal right to file or do not intend to file such a suit.

Complaints about collection agencies may be filed either with Office of Financial Regulation at http://www.flofr.com/Consumer/Forms/CCAComplaint.pdf or with the Federal Trade Commission, Correspondence Branch, Washington, D.C. 20580. You also may file a lawsuit against the collection agency for violating state and/or federal law. If you prevail, you may be awarded your actual damages, as well as attorneys? fees and costs.
To remind people of their rights ? and debt collectors of their obligations ? the FTC is featuring a new video available at www.ftc.gov/MoneyMatters, in the section called "Dealing with Debt". The video is also available in Spanish at www.ftc.gov/asuntosdedinero.

A number 407-412-7918 called giving me a phone number to call of 1-888-691-3926 with a case no but when called they stated they were going to send someone to my house to give me a summon for my mom. This place is very rude and get their stories straight. We ran a credit report and checked on a company that is supposibly owed money from my mom but no such debt was incurred. This is fraud and needs to be stopped.

all these messages are very current. would have to assume this company has recently updated it's number and name to do business. companies like this violate the law and hide behind p.o. boxes and layers of secrecy. when they finally are exposed as frauds rarely does anyone of importance get caught. it is the little call center people that take the brunt of the charges. the real owners pickup and start over right away.
leaving others to pay the price.  stay far away from this company

company called with story about an unpaid debt from 2005. debt was paid and signed off by the court system in my area. had to prove it before i could close on my home i was buying.these people sound like scum, as soon as you press them for details, they hang up.
any lawyer worth 2 cents will always ask if you can verify payoff with any documentation. when i offered it they hung up on me. i called them back and insisted i would be happy to send docs, they hung up again.
they ask for ss# and that is the first sign something is very wrong. no body, calling you, will expect you to hand over your ss# that easily. now if you are contacting your bank, etc. they may ask for personal info to verify who you are. however, you are calling them. different when some strange person out of nowhere contacts you and asks for ss#. CNN ran a piece about scum who prey on people who have had bad credit. sometimes a person forgets they paid it already and volunteers to pay it again to avoid trouble. these companies are just rotten to the core and have no morals or ethics. stay away from them at all costs. if they threaten you call the police and the attorney general. if possible, record every call.

Lies. They are bottom feeding debt collectors. They may violate the FDCPA abd try to rip you off. RECORD any calls from them. DEMAND validation of debt. Make sure any debt claimed is not past the statute of limitations. Learn about the FDCPA. If they violate the law document it and inform your states attorney snd their states attorney. FIle complaints with states attorneys and the FTC. Document everythibg. lawyers will tske these cases on at no charge and sue them for FDCPA  violations. Dont be afraid of thrm. Make them fear you.

Someone called me from 727-362-6780 and said they were trying to deliver a summons and that if I wanted more info I would have to call 888-230-6999 w/ a case #.  I called that # and they tried asking me to verify info, I was very suspicious.  They had my name and at least the first few digits of my SS#.  I got very defensive and told them that I did not feel comfortable giving or verifying any info w/out knowing first what this was about.  I them informed them that I had declared bankruptcy in 2011 and my case was closed and history cleared.  I pressed again about what this was about and told them again I'm not giving them any info til I knew what this was about.  the guy got very test and said you will find out soon enough and hung up on me.  this is prob some sort of sheisty collection agency scrougning for $$.  be careful.

Called and said that they wanted to deliver a package. They said it appeared to be a summons. I asked who it was from and they said Epstein Roth. Then, they gave me a 888 number to call and said the people at that end would disclose all the information. Did not press me any further to deliver the package after giving out the 888 number. Called the 888 number and the voice mail indicated that it was Epstein Roth & Assoc. They appear to be a collections firm according to Google.
