Credit adapter took $19.95 out of my account for 8 months before I caught it. The lady said she would refund this months chargers but I demanded that they refund all of the charges! she sent an email to the compliance department and said I would get a response within 5-7 days. I got her name badge number and extension. I told her the BBB were going to hear about this and how they are operating illegally, immoral and dishonestly. I'm furious. My credit was messed up due to a divorce and they took advantage of my vulnerability!

I did sign up for the one month memebership and i did cancel via online/email twice. However my bank account has contiuned to be charged 29.99 a month. When i contacted them they claim I never cancelled my membersip online, and that I have not logged in to my account. I let them know I will be contacting my bank to insure they do not withdraw anymore money, and that I needed a confrimation number of my cancellation....basically i got no where.

If MVQ*TWENTYFOURPRTC is taking money out of your account the company's name is Privacy Matters Identity. Phone number is 1877 974 1563. It is not "free credit report".

I just noticed a 2.00 dollars charge from the MVQ*TWENTYFOURPRTC. My solution from Monday is to go to the bank and say that I lost my card. The next number will be different and no one can take money out of your card anymore.

Twenty Four Protect is linked to freecreditreport.com .. even if you cancel the service they still charge you the dollar a month fee.  the government needs to shut them down.

people have reported if they call and complain they will get the dollar credited back.  if you get charged again the next month is a dice roll.

dunno what government agency would report them to.  Problem is it's such a low fee they fly under the radar and get away with it.  a stop payment at the bank would cost 25 dollars which would be 2 years of fee's.. hardly worth it.

It is true that to put on a stop payment cost more than what you're losing.  However, if you let then take it out, then dispute it, it doesn't cost anything more than a trip to the bank.  It is a little inconvenient, but after it happens to the company too many times, the banks start charging the company high rates for their withdrawls.  It ends up costing the company taking the money a lot more than a dollar.  They'll eventually learn.

I had the same problem. I keep calling to cancell it and get sent to the automated machine to cancel and every month I get the same charge. I issue a dispute every 30 days for the same company with my bank. I hope the second commentor was correct in stating that once they start getting charged higher fee's they will stop.

I'm going to call the Better Business Bureau and I suggest everyone else does as well. Since it is such a small but annoying fee the BBB may not pursue it if one person complains. But if they receive a large amount of phone calls about this they're going to have to do something about it.

This is a version of the automatic debit scam as described by the FTC here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel06.shtm  It's frequently mysterious as to how they got your account info in the first place. They might be fraudulently charging accounts at random or more likely you might have given/used your account to get something in exchange for a $-off coupon,  a free something like a shopping card with a small shipping fee, etc., and buried in the fine print is authorization to auto-charge your account every month with bullsh*t difficult-to-cancel subscriptions. The methods used to get you to "agree" to the fine print is endless and they come up with new schemes every day.
To stop the billing, contact the scammer to kill the subscription and get your money back and if that fails, tell your card issuer or bank that fraud has occurred and have them refund the money and replace the account - this is important, the account must be replaced because criminals have it and they can charge again or sell account info to other criminals. Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

I was charged 1.00 as I agreed. Then when I got my bank statement I was chrged 19.95 from MVQ Credit Adapter. I called the number that everyone was given and they asked for your membership number and credit call number I did not provide this. Call 1-800-492-3042 and keep hitting 0 and I talked to a live person, which was Credit Adapter. I gave her my telephone number and I cancelled the membership I hoped. Please get the person name, the membership number and a conformation number which they gave me. Hope that works for you.

I did this too--It was easy.  Just enter your membership # & zip code, and then click cancel membership, and it'll ask you to confirm.  I had been enrolled in this because I went to some credit report website, which enrolled me into 3 different programs and never did get to see my credit report.  I was successful at cancelling the other 2 memberships by phone, but this one kept charging me $2 every month, and my bank statement didn't show the whole phone number.  I had to search "twentyfourprct" to find the whole number.  But anyway, if they continue to charge me now, they're in a lot of trouble.

I just called the 888 number that shows up on my debit card statement. There was no person there, just recorded messages that run you around in circles.  Finally by entering my phone number (actually it was my office number which I tried after my personal number didn't work, and that's REALLY weird), I got another recorded message that included "my" account number.  I then Googled "twentyfour protect" and found something called "twentyfour plus".  After digging around on a sparse and less than helpful website, I found a place to enter that account number and ask that the account be canceled.  Now I wait until next month to find out if they are still charging my debit card!  While there was little to no detail provided on the website, it looked as if it is supposed to have something to do with protection for your car, home, appliances, etc.
