'April Lopez' left a voicemail that stated the call was not a joke and she was not a telemarketer. She was calling from the 'Welcome Center' in Gilbert claiming I was guaranteed one of 4 top prizes - ranging from a 32 inch tv to a 2008 Lincoln Navigator. It was required that the 'prize' be picked up between today (Tuesday) and Saturday. I was instructed to call to get the details. My name was not used in the voicemail.
I called back and 'Dave' answered. He is in Chicago. He stated that in order to claim a prize, attendance to a 60-90 minute presentation for Star Travel would be required. There are age and income restrictions. Apparently, if you meet all of their criteria and attend the presentation then you get a scratch ticket that will reveal which guaranteed prize you get.

I got the same message, I hate people like this.

I got the same exact call but from the "Welcome Center of the Napa Valley".
How do these people get away with this?

I got the same call from Welcome Center of the Napa Valley. Fortunately I checked that number on the Internet and found these comments here. This should stop somehow.

Received same call, Wednesday July 9,2008, from April, from the Napa Welcome Center.  Call was to my work phone and I do not yet remember entering a contest.  When I called back April was out of the office but I got Dave, who said he was based in Chicago.  He said either he or April would call back within 5 minutes.  When he called me back he told me that I and my wife would be required to attend a presentation by a company called Global Exchange to be able to qualify for the prize.  He asked me to talk with her and call him back.

Same  call from April WED afternoon, from the Welcome Center in Napa. Promising not to be  telemarketing or sales call. I had be selected for one of the four top prizes in a contest I had recently entered for a 2008 Navigator. BUTthe only test is I must claim the prize by Sunday!
I left numerous messages at DAVE'S number. Because I did actually enter a  contest recently for a Navigator and 32 " Flat Screen.
However They have not"promptly" called back as promised.
It is now Friday AM.
What a nusance!

I too got a call and of course thought to myself " what a crock of s+_), but upon giving it some thought, I did recall being at the Casino and Home Depot a few months back and filling out an entry form. So I figured I'd call "April", not give her any personal info and see what kind of bologna she would tell me. I also need to mention that I blocked my number when I placed the call. I'm always VERY SCEPTICAL. Come to find out, she asked if this was " Michelle or Julie?", explaining that she was only waiting on two other people to respond that day. When I told her I wasn't either of thoes people she explained that she must have dialed the wrong number and apologised over and over again. I waited about an hour and called back, this time she asked if my name was Michelle, tickled by the whole thing I agreed. Come to find out when it was all said and done, she broke it down to me and gave me the date and time that the entry form had been filled out. She was very up-front about EVERYTHING and didn't beat around the bush what-so-ever. I ended up picking up my gift in my town last weekend and am happy to report I've got an extra $2,500 to spend ( or save ) as I see fit. THANK YOU APRIL FOR BEING HONEST FROM THE GET GO , I HOPE OTHERS WILL GIVE YOU THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT LIKE I DID IT WAS DEFINITLY WORTH IT.

I received a call from April Lopez & Dave also.  And just to clear the air a little, this call was not a scam call.  This turned out to be some very enlighting information on discounted vacations, trips, cruises and much more.  Something I was able to use.  Thanks April & Dave!

I got a call from this number. A lady named April Lopez said that I am a guaranteed winner of one of the top prizes in some annual holiday giveaway in Gilbert AZ. I am going to call the lady back to see what's up but believe this to be some sort of scam because she didn't say my name in the voice mail and she said that I have 2 days left to claim my prize. Whatever the case I will call back WITHOUT giving out any personal information.
